Chapter 33

REID:
The first reaction I get in seeing the lady among the two is a kind of elation. Then quickly it switches to a pang of jealousy because she is right beside a man when she shouldn’t be.
The proximity between them is what makes me feel that way and the next thing is that I find myself asking interrupting their conversation with a little growl. “What are you two doing on my territory?”
They both look in my direction at the same time. And by the looks on their faces, I can tell they are confused. But confused about what? Don’t they realize they have trespassed?
“I asked you two a question: What are you doing here?” I snap them out of their supposed reverie because I cannot stand the sight anymore.
“Who is he? And did he just say his territory?” the male speaks but he is not even attempting to speak to me. Instead, he is questioning the lady who has her eyes on me knowingly.
“Are you two not going to say anything? Or is it until I have you both behind bars before you know that I asked a question?” I threaten but it seems to me that I am just calling bluffs because it doesn’t make any of them flinch one bit.
“Kira, why are you looking at him that way? Do you know from somewhere?” the male asks the female who simply nods with her gaze still fixated on me. And even with my annoyance, I cannot seem to take mine off hers as well.
“Yes, I do,” the girl says. “That’s Alpha Reid,”
“Alpha Reid? Night Blaze’s alpha?”
“Yes,” the girl affirms. But I feel like I am being treated as if I do not exist because they are simply talking to each other without caring about my presence.
“Then what are we still doing here? Quick, follow me. We need to get the guards right here before he does something harmful to us,” and the male grabs the girl by the hand, attempting to pull her away. Out of pure instinct, I snarl at them which makes the male back off instantly.
“Do you realize I could rip your head off right now for even attempting to disrespect me?” I snap at the boy. “First, you trespass. Now second, you are acting like I do not exist. Are you testing my patience?”
All of my will at this moment is to get my hands on the boy. I am filled with so much anger but only withhold from doing anything to him because of the mindset that he is not a pack member. If it had been another option, he would not live to hear the end of it.
That is when the girl steps forward, making me shift my attention to her. Because of her I relax a bit but do not take my mind off the boy.
“Alpha Reid, it seems you might be getting it all wrong,” she says. “We are not on your territory. This is the territory of the Green Dales, and by rules, it is you who is trespassing, making it a serious offense because you are an alpha of a rival pack.”
At first, I do not try to react. Then the next thing I am smirking it off. The girl sure knows how to play games.
“What do you take me for? A kid? Because I have caught up with you two now, the next thing is for you to try to deceive me by telling me this is your pack territory? I’m sorry to disappoint you but such will not be working on me.”
The girl’s face twitches in confusion. She then looks back at the boy who is standing against the tree they both were before. She looks back at me and says, “What do you mean you’ve caught up with us? Were we meant to be running away from you in the first place?”
“That is what you two were doing!”
“We have been standing here for about ten minutes now. And if you take a look at us, do we look like we have been trying to break a sweat at all? Huhn? No. So why would you think it was us you were chasing after? You need to leave now before I call the guards on you.”
I have never been more confused than I am right now in my entire life. It suddenly feels like I have no control over this situation because her explanation suddenly makes it seem like I am the one trespassing for real. I just need to know how on earth I would be trespassing in my territory. And if they weren’t the ones I was chasing down not too long ago, then who was it?
“I don’t understand what is going on here. How can you call the guards on me on my territory? Isn’t that a strange thing to say?”
That is when I hear incoming footsteps. It doesn’t sound like one but it felt like a wide range of them were coming. Then a voice that sounds like one of them is instructing the others follows.
“Did you alert them?” the girl turns and asks the boy who simply shrugs.
“I did what I have to do.” was the boy’s response.
I am not even sure what to think. Should I make a run for it? But I am still convinced that I am on my territory? It makes no sense that I will be on a rival territory when I did not even cross the borderline.
I decided to expand my vision to see if I could sight those approaching us. And by doing that, my vision comes in contact with someone dressed in a warrior’s uniform. Except the uniform didn’t belong in my pack.
They were right. I was not on my territory. I have trespassed without knowing. I think I need to go back to how this all started because this is me finding myself in a mess I didn’t plan for.
I should have listened to Bryan.

KIRA:
From the look on his face, it is obvious that he is trying to decide how he is going to get out of here. It is as if he just realized that he was in trouble. Sure he must have been convinced that he was truly on his territory and not ours.
This is all Kelvin’s fault. I have no idea why he even reached out to the guards.
“Why did you make the call?” I find myself asking Kelvin but not bothering to turn around to look at him. “You should never have done that. I have things under control.”
“Seems to me like you don’t. Didn’t you see that he was insistent on being on his territory and not ours?”
I shake my head, trying to think of ways to help the Night Blaze’s alpha out. I have to because it would be wrong of me to let the guards get to him. They would end up making him a suspect for the current ongoing crisis that no one else knows of yet.
“We need to get him out of here,” I announce, still trying to think of ways to do so. However, nothing is coming to mind.
“There is no way I am allowing you to do that,” Kelvin states and that is when I turn to look at him in a snap.
I give him a once-over. “And when did you start dictating to me? I will be helping him out and there’s nothing you will be doing about it,” I pause and after that add, “What was it you told the guards to make them come here?”
Kelvin looks like he is not going to talk which makes me annoyed more than I already am at him for making this whole fuss up.
“Be quick, Kelvin. They are gaining on us. I don’t care if you are unwilling to help me or not, just tell me what you told them!” I try not to yell at him too much despite my annoyance toward him. When it seems like he is still not going to say something, I say, “Whatever. I’ll sort this out myself.”
The alpha is still standing there watching the events between Kelvin and me unfold. Although I notice he has moved a few steps backward.
I start to say to him, “I can help you evade them. But you have to follow my lead. Is that okay with you?”
I was only feeding his manly ego by asking him that. I know how those in authority tend to react whenever low lifers like us try to dictate to them. So to make it smooth for both of us, I had to go with that approach.
A nod from him is the go-ahead I need. But before I could leave with the alpha, I hear Kelvin speak.
“I told them I was in trouble,” he says, prompting me to look back at him because I know already what he is talking about.
“Can you lie?” I demand from him.
“Depends on the situation.”
“Help me find a way to fend them off with one.” and with that, I am on the run away from the scene with the alpha.
