Chapter 48
REID:
“The bullshit is you trying to come up with an alliance just so you could end the rivalry between the Green Dales and the Night Blaze packs,” Simon states. “Just like you seem to know a lot about the Green Dales, I know a lot about your pack as well. I know how much your father hated the idea of the Red Legion, which means he forbade you to even consult the Elder. So why on earth would I believe you now that you tell me you met with him and it was him who gave you the idea to form a truce with me?”
For real, this time around, I want to smack the hell out of Simon. Not just the fact that he is pissing me off with his words, but his constant assumptions are a killer for me. I would not mind putting my fist to good use before I leave.
“I don’t what goes on in that head of yours that causes you to make absurd assumptions for me. I mean, is that how things work over here? Because it seems you lots tend to make unnecessary assumptions over everything,” I tell him, earning a narrow stare from him.
“Who else have you been communicating with, Reid? I knew you were spying on us.”
“Here we go again... another assumption. So because I made such a statement, it means I am spying on your pack? Oh c’mon. Is it not possible to get to communicate with one of your own, knowing some of your members would be sure to be stubborn in abiding by the rules that affect the borderline.”
“Who is that? Which pack member did you communicate with?”
“It’s none of your business,” I tell him, and with that, I shift away from that topic because I know that prolonging it would make him want to know who I actually did speak to. “And back to your supposed assumption about me meeting with the Elder or not, tell me something, is it me or my father who is leading the Night Blaze pack?”
Simon seems skeptical in some way as he stares at me. He stands up from his seat first before proceeding to respond in a way that was not even close to an answer to my question. “Why would you ask me that?” is what he says.
“Because you keep mentioning my father in all of this!” I snap slightly at him. “My father’s reign is over. It has been for years now. Now, this is my tenure. Whatever business or whatever assumption you have about my father, I will advise you do not think that about me because my father's reign and mine are two different things. That is to say that even if my father had detested going to meet with the Elder, it doesn’t say the same about me because I simply do not care what his reasons are for not consulting him. I hope you understand what I mean,”
“For a young man, you have got some balls talking to me without an atom of fear.”
“I think it should be vice versa because you know how dangerous I can be when I went to. If I were scared, I would be here with either of my beta or my head warrior. That is to tell you I do not give a fuck.”
He nods. “Well, Reid. Or should I say, Alpha Reid? I will very much like to tell you that I will not be reaching a compromise with you on the issue. Your pack might be going through a lot of crisis but mine isn’t. We only recorded a few mysterious happenings but we have managed to put it to a stop. So I will advise you to go work on solving your pack issue rather than looking for help from mine.”
I stand up from the sofa. “Simon, you know this is not going to be over. You think that you might have handled the situation but I promise that you have not. And trust me when I say that. It is not something that you could put to a stop just like that. The Elder made it clear that if we do not come to a compromise, then it is surely going to escalate. I promise you, it is not the end.”
“Well, let me figure that out myself,” he says nonchalantly. “The last thing I need as well as my pack is coming to an agreement with a long-age rival. Who knows if you are trying to play on our intelligence because that is what the Night Blaze is good at,”
“Gosh, Simon. Try to trust me on this. If this were not serious, I would not be sitting here talking to you.”
“But you are standing now,”
“What difference does it make?” I say with a lot of frustration. “Look, Simon, let us just reach an agreement on this and I promise that after that, we could go back to the long age rivalry, I don’t care.”
I see as his expression switches which give me a glamor of hope because it makes me think he his about to agree to work with me on this. But the words that come out of his mouth make me realize he is still very much skeptical about the whole thing.
“You keep mentioning that the only way for it to end is by working together. But what are we going to be doing together? Huhn?” his brows are raised after the words leave his mouth.
Trust me, I did not come fully prepared for that question which is why as soon as it is directed to me, I am a lot skeptical about how I am going to give him a response.
The truth is that despite everything that the Elder discussed with my men and me, he never mentioned what we need to do by working together. This is why this is going to be hard to come up with something to tell him.
“I will be honest with you,” I start to say, “the Elder said nothing about what we need to do. All he kept mentioning was a prophecy and that is all I can tell you.”
Simon scoffs. “That is the best thing you could come up with, huh? Something about a prophecy? Reid, Reid, Reid, you keep amusing me,” he declares and then calls the name of someone. “Thompson!”
Instantly, someone comes in. I instantly could tell who it is because it was the same wolfling that had been with the warriors that had come to escort my men and me to Simon’s quarters.
The man was apparently his beta because that was how he introduced himself to me when we met. And I had acknowledged it with a nod.
“Thompson,” Simon says, “Please see Alpha Reid and his entourage out of the territory.”
I instantly decline as I start to walk out of the quarters. “You don’t need to. I know my way out of here.”

KIRA:
I just have it in me to pass through the location leading to the Alpha's quarters. Something tells me that I might find out something today about why he visited the school the other day. Trust me, I am dying to find out, especially after knowing that I would not be getting anything from Bradley. He simply has no idea about it.
I should be heading straight home but the curiosity is eating me up. I know that I promised myself that I would not indulge in things like this again but I just cannot help it this time around. Luckily I do not get caught in the mix.
When I reach a point where I was certain was very close to the Alpha’s quarters, I stop because my mind is telling me to go back already. But another part of me is urging me to move ahead because it is too late to turn back. Although I know it is an option that I would reconsider because through this path, I could make a turn that would lead me back to the route to my family quarters.
Anyways, I decide not to think about what is going to happen next as I persist to my supposed destination.
My hands are clutched tightly on the straps of my bag to express how nervous I am at the moment about what I am doing. It is one thing to say that I occasionally clutch onto the straps, but this time it was purely out of nervousness.
When I eventually get almost close, I sense something that makes me stop. There seem to be more warriors coming from the alpha’s quarters than usual. And what makes me believe that is because of the number of mixed colors I was seeing. It seems to me that there is a mix in the warriors because a few of them were in different colors as they approach my direction.
All of a sudden I see someone coming in my direction. He has a hood over his head which is covering most of his face but I have this hick that tells me he is someone familiar. And that is proved when he gets directly in front of me.
