Chapter 63

KIRA:

“What are you doing here?” At the same time, Alpha Reid and I throw the question at each other. Now it was left to who is going to answer first because this is definitely a situation I never anticipated.

I have no idea how I am seeing him here. But the fact that Alexia already stated that I was not in the Green Dales territory means I could very much be in the Night Blaze territory. I think I might have trespassed again without knowing.

Alpha Reid is the first to speak after that as he says, “This path has not been explored in a long time yet I find you here when I decided to check it out,” he pauses for a while as he gives me the rules of scrutiny which has me bothered. “Tell me, how much do you know about routes like this in my pack since you seem to have a thing for trespassing?”

That was a question I have no idea how to go about. I was not sure about the response I have to give to him because he has put me in a position that I could not handle.

How was I to explain that I did not willingly trespass and it was just my body that took control of me? It makes no sense to even tell another. And the only way I know that would make it make sense was if I told him about the fact that I have a spirit wolf.

Sure, he would be surprised because he knows my age already. And that would mean he would want to go through a means of clarification which I have no time for.

When I suddenly notice him take a step forward which he follows with another soon after, I start to back away until I realize I was standing right behind the big boulder of rock that I had been lying against not too long ago.

Now, what do I do? I have to find a way to get out of here before he gets closer to me. And I am not avoiding him because of anything else but to ensure that I do not stay too long here lest I vent my emotions out on him.

“Look I’m sorry I trespassed again,” I say while stylishly putting my hand on the rock, trying to gather momentum on it. “But I promise that I did not intend to do it this time around. I don’t know what came over. So just let me go and I promise not to do it again.”

I notice that he has shifted his gaze down. Seems to me that he has noticed what I am about to do. More reason I have to make a run for it soon enough.

“Are you going to say that you were chased down by the unknown again?” he asks in a way that sounds like he is teasing me. Don’t know if I have room for that.

“I never said I was,” is my response to that as I start to get myself ready for what I am about to do. He has not stopped making his way over to me.

“What if someone else found you here? What would have been your explanation? I think you deserve a little punishment for trespassing at any single chance you get.”

I did not wait to hear the end of it as I put a lot of weight on my arm and with that swung backward which leads me to the other side of the rock. And without even thinking to sense if he was right on my tail, I have started to storm off from there with the fastest of speed I could muster.

I was certain it would not be an easy task to evade him, knowing he is an alpha with a bit of experience. He would be sure to catch up with me so the only thing I can do now to ensure he does not get to me is if I could shift into my wolf for the first time.

‘That is not a good idea.’ Alexia states when the thought reaches her.

“Why not?” I ask.

‘Because shifting for the first time would mean that you would have to stop to get that done. And there is also the fact that you would be revealing yourself to Alpha Reid. Do you want that to happen?’

I do not need to think it through for too long before deciding that it was indeed a bad idea. Perhaps I should just go zigzag to confuse the alpha.

One thing I noticed on the way is that I could not hear the wind ruffling behind me. Seems he is not chasing after me. But that would be strange because the way he had started to come at me when I was still in front of him made it seem like he wanted to get me at any cost.

I wouldn’t dare look back, though, to check if he was right behind me. Asides from the fact that it would slow me down, I have to ensure I keep my gaze ahead so I would not bump into something along the way.

“So what do you suggest I do now?” I ask Alexia.

‘Just keep running.’

“But you wanted me to meet with him before. Why are you advising that I run away from him now?”

‘This is not the best time to have a conversation with him so take my advice and make a run for it. Perhaps some other time.’

She has just finished with her statement when I feel like something was about to go wrong. It makes me increase my pace instantly because I cannot afford to be caught up right now. I am sure it is him.

Suddenly I hear Alexia yell in my head: ‘Watch out!’

But before I could process the reason she said that, I have been collided with by a force, sending me crashing to the ground.

Just when I try to find my feet back up, I am pinned to the ground. I try to struggle out of the reach of who it is when I look up to see it is only Alpha Reid towering over me with his face close to mine.

Unexpectedly, my heart starts to flutter.

REID:

Looking at her this close was mind-blowing for me. I know I should take action now by getting up but I cannot help but hold her gaze.

She stopped with the struggle only after realizing that it was me. But the way she was staring right back at me makes me think that she stopped because of something else.

She is holding my gaze as well which is why I cannot look away from her yet. Her eyes looked like a million stars were harboring in them and it was sending me to a state that I cannot fathom.

My heartbeat was disorganized. I could feel my pulse rising as well. Everything felt divine at the moment and trust me, I wouldn’t want it to end.

“What are you doing?” she suddenly asks. But the way she sounded was not the way I would expect her to sound, knowing how confident she always is.

She was sounding like she could not handle what was going on at the moment. Just like the way I was struggling too as well. Could she be feeling the bond already?

“Stopping you from getting yourself in trouble.” I finally find the words to say to her.

“What trouble?”

“You were going to get yourself into the hands of my warriors.”

And just at the same time, the sound of footsteps could be heard around the axis which makes her open her eyes wide in surprise.

The footsteps go on for a few more seconds before the whole area becomes quiet. And at the same time, I exhale in relief.

She uses that momentum to get me off her, making me land butt-first to the ground. No lies, there was quite an amount of force coming from a sixteen-year-old.

I get up to my feet at the same time she does. Watching her, I could see that she was looking around, perhaps to confirm if she was safe.

“Why did you save me? I thought you wanted to get me locked up for trespassing?” she suddenly announces, much to my surprise.

“When will you learn the concept of saying ‘thank you’ first for a favor done to you?” is my response to her because I am a bit annoyed by her action.

“I only say so when I asked for it. It was never your call to help me in the first place.”

As much as I feel frustrated that she has to be so annoying at a time like this, I decide not to let that get to me. After all, she is still a young one.

Instead, I choose to ask her something that relates to why she is here in the first place. Although I still want to know how she found out about this route. Who knows how many more people know about this place?

“My parents are dead. Does that answer your question?”
