Chapter 12: The Runaway Mate

Natasha got up from sitting on the ground. She wiped the tears from her eyes, and let out a deep breath. She stepped her feet backward. She turned her back and ran away from the castle with tears all over her face.

Natasha couldn't imagine that she cried like this because of how the alpha's fans were harassing her. She shouldn't mind them, but on the other hand, she can't prevent to feel affected. It is because they tried to hurt her. They threatened her and she was afraid of them.

“I am so sorry, Alpha Aiden, but it's beyond the belt. Those women attacked me. I have to protect myself because my twin sister still needs me.”

Those words came out from her mouth while she was running away from the palace. Natasha hoped that the alpha won't chase her and if that happens, she must be celebrating.

She just continued running and didn't even care if sweat kept flowing to her face. Her tears were unstoppable. It won't leave her face.

On the other hand, Alpha Reid was looking for his mate. His eyes narrowed to all the visitors and can't even find her mate. She could even feel his blood boiling while thinking that maybe Natasha left.

“You are really hard-headed, Woman. Where the hell are you?” He queried to himself and kept walking. Many are calling his name, but he didn't turn his gaze at them. His mate is more important to him at this moment.

“Where the hell is Natasha, Reid?”

Alpha Reid turned his gaze to Zach's direction. Her blood boils upon seeing the man. He grabbed the collar of his shirt and stared at him in his dangerous stare.

“She's not here and I know you're hiding her. Don't pretend, Asshole. Do you want a rematch!?” Alpha Reid queried, which made Zach to smirk.

“Do you think I would still stay here if I had her?”

Alpha Reid let go of him after he mumbled those words. He's still glaring at him.

“Don't follow me! Just make sure that you're telling the truth because if not, I will go back and kill you!”

After the alpha uttered those words, he left to start looking for his mate. Alpha Reid was so worried about her. Despite the fact that he doesn't want her, Natasha is still his mate. He must protect her because she's his other part.

“Alpha Reid?”

He stopped from walking when he heard a woman's voice. Alpha Reid turned his gaze to her direction and then he found out that a woman isn't alone. She has other companions.

“Is there anything you want?”

He queried and the three women in front of him sighed altogether that confused him.

“You're looking for your mate, don't you?”

He furrowed his brow because of what he heard. These women knew that he was looking for his mate.

“Have you seen her?”

“We saw her earlier. She ran away from the castle with a man, Alpha Reid.” One of them responded, and he gritted his teeth.

“That woman was getting on my nerves!” He uttered, and then he's confused again when three women were bowing their heads, so he grinned.

“Your mate is not loyal to you, King Reid. She was—”

Alpha Reid didn't allow them to continue what they were about to say when he ran away from them. He must find Natasha and ask her about what they mentioned. He should not overthink. Natasha would never do that to him, and that's what Alpha Reid keeps telling to himself while he's tracking his mate by her smell.

The smell is getting far, so he moved fast to reach where the smell came from. Alpha Reid never used to do this even before he met Natasha. He admits to himself that he's being a playboy and women were just his toy, but when Natasha came everything changed just like one snap of a finger.

He didn't expect that all his plans would turn out to be like this. This wasn't his plan before. Alpha Reid couldn't explain what is going now.

“Where the hell are you, Natasha?”

He keeps asking himself for about five minutes already until his eyes notice something. It's probably someone and he rushed to approach her. Alpha Reid smiled when he saw Natasha. The woman was walking, so he used his speed to reach her.

“Damn, Natasha?”

Natasha didn't expect that Alpha Reid would be about to arrive. Her eyes widened as she stared at him. She even blinks a couple of times just to make sure that she isn't hallucinating.

“Alpha Reid?” She asked and was stunned by what he did next.

Alpha Reid grabbed her waist and pulled her close to his body. The alpha hugged her and she never thought this would happen.

“You make me worried, Natasha.”

She still can't digest everything that happened now. Alpha Reid followed her and what's shocking most is how the Alpha hugged her.

“W-why are you so worried about me?” She queried and that's why the Alpha let go of her.

“Of course I would be worried because you're my mate. Damn it!”

In just a blink of an eye, Alpha Reid returned to what he was before. Natasha escaped a loud sigh because of that.

“You shouldn't follow me here, Alpha Reid. I wanted to go back. I can't handle it. I wasn't for you.”

Natasha wanted to turn her body away when the Alpha didn't allow her. Alpha Reid grasped her wrist which prevented her from walking away.

“I hate a runaway mate, Natasha.”

After the Alpha mentioned those words, he suddenly carried her like a sack of rice. Natasha's eyes widened because of that. She tried to flounder, so the Alpha will let go of her but Alpha Reid doesn't seem to care. He was still carrying her and Natasha gave up from floundering. The Alpha had no plan of letting her go.

“Just please put me down, Alpha Reid. I can walk because I have legs.”

Alpha Reid puts her down when they are exactly in front of the castle. Natasha thought that she could totally escape from him, but she was wrong.

“Now tell me what happened and what provoked you to run away?”

And Natasha stiffened from her direction when the interrogation was about to happen.
