Chapter 18: Remuneration and Condition

She stepped her feet backwards when she saw Alpha Reid. Her heart racing inside her rib cage out of fear upon seeing the Alpha's face.

“A-alpha Reid…”

She even stammers.

“Natasha…”

The alpha even stepped his legs to approach her, but Natasha did her best to avoid him. She couldn't see his face because of the darkness. Natasha starts to feel scared for her life. She doesn't want to die.

“Don't hurt me… Please…”

She's begging. She's crying. She's afraid.

Natasha doesn't want to leave this world. Her twin sister what comes into her mind.

“I am here because—”

“Please, Alpha Reid… Don't hurt me.”

She didn't allow him to continue her words when she cut him abruptly. Natasha still continued stepping backwards until her back hit the cold wall. She was cornered already. Alpha Reid was already in front of her. Although she couldn't see him, she could smell his scent.

“Just let me finish my sentence, Natasha, okay?”

Her mouth widened from what he uttered. The fear she had felt faded away for no reason. The way he speaks was different. Natasha could tell that the alpha is not mad anymore. He's calmed.

“W-what do you want, Alpha? Would you punish me now?”

She inquired, that made the alpha let out a deep breath.

“Look, I know I made a mistake and I am really sorry about that, Natasha. I know I am just overreacting. The theft was not proven guilty. Her statement and the people who knew about her helped her to be released from her case. I totally understand her reasons now and I am so sorry for judging her like that.”

Natasha was shocked by what she heard from the alpha's mouth. It seemed surreal. It seems exaggerated for her. She flicked herself just to prove that everything was real. And she realized that it really is.

The alpha changed too abruptly because from being cold-hearted to softhearted.

“That's great to k-know.”

It's only what she had responded to him. Natasha was still dismayed because allegations put her life in this tough situation. However, she didn't regret defending that woman. She knew that the woman was telling the truth.

“I'm sorry…”

Natasha bit her upper lips when the alpha held her hands. She could feel her heart pumping so abruptly as it reacted to what he was doing.

He's asking for an apology, and it's inevitably unbelievable. She never expected that an alpha like Reid would ask an apology to a woman like her.

“I am so sorry if I locked you here because you tried to defend that woman. Don't ever think that I am so cruel, Natasha. I admit my mistakes and that's why I'm here to take you out. I am also willing to give you everything that you wish for.”

“What would you do if I wanted to get out of your life?”

Natasha was stunned by what came out from her mouth. That's not what she wanted to ask.

“It's not fair, Natasha. Ask a different favor and not that, please…”

She let out a deep breath from the alpha's response. Natasha knows that whatever will happen, she has no way out from the alpha. She was already destined to be the alpha's procured mate.

“Would you allow me to meet and see my sister again, Alpha? I want to talk to her.”

All Natasha wants is to see and talk to her twin sister. She wasn't given the chance to formally bid her farewell to her twin sister the day that she was bought by the Alpha and even now, she was still hoping that he'd allow her.

Natasha was still hoping that the Alpha would agree that she can talk to her twin sister for the last time.

“I know I'd been tough to you, Natasha and as a gift from what I have done, I will allow you to talk to her, but on one condition…”

The alpha wants to grant her request as remuneration because of what he did, but there was still a condition.

“Just tell me what's the condition,”

Natasha left no choice, but to agree just to see her sister.

“I want to come with you.”

It seems like time has stopped moving for the meantime after she heard those words. Those words puzzled Natasha, and she struggled to digest it.

“W-what did you say, Alpha?”

She queried just to make sure that she was hearing it right. Natasha doesn't want to hope.

“Damn, you're making me repeat it again.”

He complained that made Natasha shake her head in disbelief.

“I just want to make sure.”

She responded, so the Alpha just let out a deep breath.

“If you want to see your sister, I'll be coming with you, Natasha,”

There was a sly smile that formed on her lips when the Alpha repeated it again. She was confident to smile because the Alpha can't see her face. However, there's one thing she remembered.

Despite how dismayed she was earlier from what the alpha did to her yesterday, it looks like it faded away after the Alpha asked for an apology. Maybe it's because she still believes that alpha Reid does that because he thought she was taking the wrong side.

“I will agree to that, King Reid. I am so desperate to see my sister.”

“Don't worry because I'll be coming with you later. Just come with me and I will take you out of here.”

Natasha jumped in nervousness when the alpha took her left hand. She wasn't expecting that. However, her attention went back to the alpha. He was dragging her out from the empty room, and Natasha could already feel nervousness.

“Where's Jhona now, King Reid?”

Natasha queried, so the alpha stopped from walking just to face her.

“She was alright. Don't worry about that, Natasha. She's back to her work while her sister is already taken care of.”

The alpha's response made her feel relieved. This is what she was waiting for. Natasha wanted Jhona safe because she knows that the woman is kind-hearted. Although she just met her not so long ago, her inner self was telling her that she has a kind heart.

“I just want—”

And then something just happened that almost fled her soul away from her body.
