Chapter 9: Blazing in Anger
The night has finally come when Natasha and Alpha Reid will attend the grandiose ball of the kingdom where Alpha Reid will be crowned as the next new king.
Natasha was nervous when she was walking down the stairs while Alpha Reid was waiting for her downstairs. The Alpha brought her a gown and heels to wear tonight and she was already nervous to see what would be the Alpha's reaction.
“Are you ready?”
Natasha bites her bottom lip when the Alpha turns his gaze in her direction. Alpha Reid stiffened in his direction while his eyes laid on her. Natasha can't figure out if the alpha likes her outfit or not, but then she felt disappointed when the alpha turned his head away. “Let's go.” He continues and starts walking away.
“What a numb, Alpha.”
She whispered and followed him when he started walking out of the house. Natasha could feel the beats of her heart when she felt the skin of the Alpha against her. She just bites her bottom lip to stop herself from blushing.
It was so peculiar for Natasha that Alpha Reid talked less to her. She was just getting used to the fact that the Alpha kept reminding her about something she must do and not. The alpha remained silent until they arrived at the place where the ball will be held. Natasha's jaw almost dropped to the ground upon seeing the entire place. She knows that all of the visitors are werewolves and human beings.
They just continued walking inside until they stopped near the empty table. She roamed her eyes and Natasha can't stop herself to think that she wasn't suited for this kind of celebration.
“Don't go anywhere else, Natasha. I needed to see something.”
Natasha was about to inquire with him where he wanted to go, but the Alpha already left her without allowing her to speak, so she let out a sigh and sat on the empty chair. After a couple of minutes, Natasha noticed the Alpha talking to a woman and they are so close to each other that makes her blood boil in annoyance.
She can't even explain why she felt that way. Natasha knew that she had no right to feel jealous of him because she was only the alpha's purchased woman.
“Hey, Natasha?”
She suddenly turned her gaze to someone who called her name. Natasha's eyes widened when she recognized him. It was his male friend and she couldn't believe that he was there.
“Zach? It was you! It's been a long time!”
Natasha was captivated by Zach's glow-up. She can't even recognize the man because he was far from before.
“Yes, it's me, and I never thought to see you in here.”
Zach blurted out and even until now, his feelings for her female friend are still there. He has a feeling for Natasha and yet, the woman did not recognize it.
“W…what are you doing in here?”
Natasha inquired and her face reddened when Zach grins.
“Why? Are you not happy to see me here?” He queried and Natasha shook her head.
“Of course, I am so happy. I did not expect that I'll be seeing you here.”
She explained and Zach held her hands. Natasha could feel her heart beating because of what her friend did. The man was about to kiss the back of her hands when someone screamed that almost made her jump. Natasha pulled her hand away from Zach when she recognized Alpha Reid's voice.
“Why are you holding her hands? Who the hell are you, huh?”
Natasha was alarmed when Alpha Reid grasped the collar of Zach's shirt. She was scared that something would happen after seeing what Zach almost did.
“Alpha Reid, you just misinterpreted it. That man was my friend, Zach.”
Natasha was trying to calm Alpha Reid, but he gave her a death glare that stunned Natasha.
“Why do you know this man, Natasha? Why are you with Alpha Reid?”
Zach queried her, but Natasha just bent her head down. She was scared of meeting the alpha's blazing stares.
Natasha also can't stop herself to think that the reason why Alpha Reid was so mad is that he was jealous. Although there's no reason for him to get jealous, Natasha just can't stop herself from thinking that way.
She can't stop herself to think that Alpha Reid was blazing in jealousy toward Zach.
“She was my mate, Asshole and you should not touch her because she was mine. Do you get that?”
Natasha bites her bottom lip again because of what Alpha Reid had uttered toward his male friend. Zach was her long-lost friend. They parted ways when Zach was brought by his parents to the other county. It was the first time that they've seen each other after those years, but then their meet-up will turn into like this.
“What the heck? Is it true, Natasha? You are Alpha Reid's mate?” He asked and so, Natasha lifted her head to him. She heaved a deep breath and nodded her head.
“Yes, Zach. Alpha Reid was my mate.”
She responded and although she wanted to tell the opposite, then she can't do that. Natasha can't ruin their agreement, so she needed to play the part of pretending that she was Alpha Reid's mate although the truth is, she was only sold to him. But, Alpha Reid mentioned that she was really his mate.
“You heard what my mate told you, Asshole. So next time, you better keep your distance from her. I will never allow any man to come near her.”
The words of the Alpha almost melt Natasha's heart. It seems like all the words he mentioned were real.
“You can't stop me, Alpha, from coming near her. That woman is my best friend and who the hell are you to stop me?”
Natasha swallowed her saliva from Zach's words. What also shocked her is his attitude. Zach is not like that before. He is not brave now.
“You're challenging me? Really?”
Natasha was alarmed when Alpha Reid moved closer to Zach and worst, Zach didn't move away.
“I'm not scared of you,”
Zach jeered and the place was filled with commotions and gasps just because of what happened next.
