Chapter 15: Too Good to be True

Her world stops from moving for a while when Natasha hears what the Alpha uttered. She could even hear the pumping of her heart while her eyes fixated on him.

“W-what do you mean?”

Natasha managed herself to question the alpha about his statement earlier.

“I am just kidding, Natasha. I just want to see your reaction to my words.”

Alpha Reid was even laughing after he mentioned those words. She felt relief after knowing that the Alpha was only joking at her.

“You scared me, Alpha. I thought… I thought you're really going to kill me.”

Tears already fell to her eyes when she mentioned those words. Alpha Reid looks at her with his worried face. He grabbed Natasha and embraced her.

“I'm sorry, okay? It isn't my intention. Don't worry because I will never joke with you like that.”

“You are so annoying!”

Natasha starts punching the alpha's chest, but Alpha Reid doesn't seem to care. He let Natasha do that and that confused her. Alpha Reid was different now. She could still remember his facial reaction before this event.

“If that makes you feel better, Natasha, go ahead. I just want you to know how sorry I am for making you cry. So, please stop. You didn't know how it impacts me. We are connected to each other, don't you?”

She stopped from crying from what Alpha Reid had uttered. She faces him and Alpha Reid wiped the tears from her face.

“Is it about the mate thing?” She queried and Alpha Reid nodded his head.

“Yes, Natasha. You know what, we have to go somewhere. The more I wanted to make love with you here, but this isn't our room. Starting by tomorrow, we will be moving to our new home and that's the palace.”

Natasha's mouth opened widely. What she heard from the alpha looks too good to be true. Staying at this respected place where the royal family lived seemed surreal for her.

She was a nobody. The alpha just brought her to a bar. She was only the alpha's mate and living with him in the castle seems too good to be true.

“This is too good to be true…”

Natasha didn't notice that she mentioned those words aloud that enable the Alpha to hear it. Alpha Reid even smirked because of her and it was late for her to notice it.

“W-what I mean, Alpha is… I can't stay in this kind of place. I am not part of the—”

“You are part of my family already, Natasha. You are my mate and we will be staying here whether you like it or not. Remember, I am your alpha and you have an agreement with me.”

Natasha did nothing, but to let out a sigh after what the Alpha mentioned. She can't do anything towards the alpha, but to follow his orders. Natasha wanted to speak, but Alpha Reid didn't allow her anymore. They went out of the room and went back to where the party was.

Everyone was still enjoying it like nothing happened earlier. Natasha feels dismayed by those people who witnessed the harassment that happened to her earlier. They didn't do anything, but she feels better now. Natasha was willing to forget what happened and tried to convince herself that those witnesses are only trying to protect themselves, that's why they didn't stop the harassing.

“Please pay attention, everyone!”

Natasha was aback from her deep thoughts when she heard the alpha speaking. She didn't notice that the alpha had a microphone in his hands already. Her mind was too preoccupied about the events earlier.

“I want every one of you to remember these statements coming from the Alpha King of this pack.” Alpha Reid continues.

“What did the Alpha want to tell us?”

“Well, I already knew this is about her mate.”

“What do you expect?”

“She's not even worth it to be Alpha Reid's mate. What happened to her earlier deserved her and I really thought she'd never come back.”

Natasha just controlled herself after she heard those words from the people around her. She chose to keep her mouth shut and disregard those painful words coming from the other visitors.

“Did you see this girl beside me?”

Natasha's world seemed to freeze when all the visitors' eyes turned in her direction.

“She is your mate, Alpha.”

One of the visitors had the courage to speak up.

"Yes, she is my mate, but aside from that she was also part of me. This woman beside me was so important. I didn't want anyone from you to touch this girl because once someone dared, it would eventually be the end of your lives. For as long I can, I will protect this girl beside me because she's very important to my life. So, remember my words… I didn't want any of you hurting or harassing my mate. There would be consequences.”

Silence arises in the hall after Alpha Reid mentioned those words. Natasha bent her head down because she can't face everyone after what the Alpha did.

She can't even believe that the Alpha would do this. Natasha even described it as too good to be true. It seems unreal. It seems like she was only dreaming.

“But, if this is a dream, I didn't want to wake up and face the reality of life. If this is a dream, I want to stay dreaming until my last breath.”

Natasha wanted to say those words aloud, but then she chose to mention those only in her mind.

“You can trust us, Alpha Reid. We will never touch your mate because we respected you. We are aware about this group of women who tried to harass her earlier and we are asking for an apology.”

Alpha Reid was holding Natasha's left hand when they listened to what the visitor mentioned. Natasha tries her best to pull her hand from his grip, but the alpha doesn't want to let go of her.

He doesn't want to let go of her and Natasha was confused about what she must do to escape from him.

“You did an excellent job…”

All eyes turned at the back and Natasha's eyes widened in shock.
