“Curtis! Release her immediately.”
The alpha shouted at him when the beta obediently stepped back and released her neck. Leita gulped but kept her expressions stern as not to display her fear, even though the goosebumps over her arms and neck were visible. The beta could not defy the command he understood what was about to happen ahead. Maybe chaos?

“Pardon me, alpha.”
Curtis immediately apologised as he lowered his head and waited for the alpha to forgive him. However, Sahan was mainly just concerned about the matter for which he had called her that was why he resumed. Leita wanted patiently for the alpha to say anything while she silently believed for her life to be spared.

“Listen woman, I have no leisure moments to play tricks with you or any interest in dirtying my hands.”
Sahan raked through his hair and spoke to her when he shoved his hands behind his back once again. That intimidating posture made her nervous and at the same time the beta grew anxious too. The atmosphere suddenly became tense after all that nonsense which she had spouted daringly.

“I will ask you this once, human. And I want nothing else except the truth.”
The alpha’s eyes glowed golden once again as he spoke, his soul piercing gaze forced Leita to gulp. Whereas as much as Curtis wanted to butt in the matter he could not as that would be considered disobeying. Sahan squinted his eyes as he stood on the last step of that huge staircase carpeted in red.

“Did you steal any gown from your mistress’s wardrobe and placed it in Lana’s room?”
As soon as Sahan completed his words a grim silence reigned in the hall as Leita could not help but simply stare at him. The woman slightly shook and then lowered her head as she started laughing hysterically. Whereas the beta’s anxiety grew even more upon seeing her reaction.

“Hah? Hahaha~”
Leita smacked her lips as she tried to suppress her laughter, the woman looked at him with an insulting gaze. Whereas Sahan was unsure whether he had cracked some joke or the woman had gone insane. Whereas, beta Curtis lifted his one hand and hid his face in embarrassment regarding Leita’s reaction.

“Why would I even do that? Huh?”
She scoffed and folded her arms as Leita boldly changed her tone to a sarcastic one while she resumed. The woman’s reaction appeared as if she had heard the most ridiculous thing ever. She took one step ahead towards Sahan upon knowing that he summoned her presence for that gown matter.

“Do I look like a fool who would do something ridiculous like that to provoke you? Huh?”
Leita’s demeaning words and tone changed into a serious one, whereas the beta who had been standing behind her till now had mixed emotions.
“I value my life and safety more than anything else, alpha. Think for yourself, why would I risk something which is precious to me?”

Sahan had already thought about all those possibilities and had heard a lot of such complaints from her. The alpha was aware that she had been approached and assassinated before but the beta saved her life. And after all those incidents including her mistress’ death Leita demanded protection from the alpha.

“And on the top of that, why would I steal anything from my mistress’s bed chamber knowing the first person you will suspect would be me because I am the only human here?”
Leita’s words weighed and she stood on her point which the alpha had already expected. However, he just wanted to confirm his speculations which were proven to be true at that moment.

While she waited for his response the hybrid beta who was worried about her was relieved. Sahan was quiet for a moment and thought about it, a meaningful grin appeared on his lips before he confronted her again.
“You have no dirt on you for this matter?”
Leita gritted her teeth as she looked confidently and clenched her fists.

“No, I do not.”
She confessed with an air of assurance that she was in no way involved in that matter. However, upon hearing that the alpha was satisfied and did not want to waste any more time. It was crystal clear that if she had not done that then there must be someone else in Belle Morte. Now the question remained who would and could have done something like this?

Upon receiving his answer the alpha immediately turned around and climbed the stairs hurriedly. Leita saw her disappearing from the sight which made her relieved and the woman sighed heavily. Since she was left alone with the beta Curtis now and her eyes were closed too while she gasped for some breaths.

This time the beta seized the chance and leaped towards her, Curtis reached for her arms and grabbed the woman tightly. Since he was a hybrid who possessed immense strength and definitely had a lot more compared to Leita who was a human. The beta, Curtis lifted the woman off the ground and placed her feet over his shoes.

“What are you doing?”
Leita yelled at him but before she could say anything further Curtis used his super speed and took her away from the hall. His swift movement felt like a gush of wind which travelled all across the castle as the beta practically took Leita back to her room. As soon as they both reached there Curtis released her and immediately turned around to shut the door.

For some reason the beta knew about her room and took her straight there. The room was in the wing which had tight security since she was the only human in Belle Morte. And Curtis was officially appointed to protect her from every kind of threat as per the alpha’s instructions. As soon as he locked the door and turned around Curtis soon found a dagger right under his chin.
