The alpha was not in the room to mess around or beat around the bush. He made it clear to her that Lana’s life was not owned by herself rather whatever she would do eat, wear would be selected by him. Lana felt a surge of anger and frustration bubbling within her hearing that Sahan was not going to leave her alone. She could not believe that he was so blind to her feelings and desires of being treated properly.
It was not like she was able to accept the fact either that her sole purpose was to exist for him. She took a deep breath and thought for a moment before responding to him, "I refuse to accept that, your highness. I may be your property as you claim since you have bought me from the brothel, but I am still a living being with thoughts and feelings even though I do not have a wolf. I don't want to be treated like an object any longer by anyone in this castle."
Sahan' face darkened, and he advanced towards her with his eyes glowing once again. The supreme alpha could not help but admire that she was capable of being a luna. She had that attitude and aura except that Lana had no wolf which could complete her. Lana’s body tensed up upon seeing him approaching her, ready to defend herself if necessary, but he stopped just a bit away from her silhouette.
Lana felt a mixture of relief that he was not going to hurt her no matter what now. She had stood up for herself with her heart still knowing that anything could go wrong, but she knew that her future was uncertain and dependent on what the supreme alpha wanted. She could only hope that Sahan would come to his senses and treat her with the respect she deserved. Lana knew that if he somehow refused to mend his ways then she had to protect herself. And for that she would find a way to escape from his control and start a new life on her own terms.
“If I exist for your own pleasure, your highness. Then why would you give away your toy to someone else.”
As Lana spoke up, Sahan' expression hardened once again as he did not want her to bring that up one again. He looked at her with a mix of anger and disappointment, making it clear that he did not appreciate her bringing up the incident once again.
"If I only belong to you then why were you changing your claim and throwing in front of that duke?”
Lana could sense his frustration, but she knew that she had to keep going. The woman wished to find answers to the questions she had in her mind.
“You knew that he would not dare take me away when you are there. But you still provided him all sorts of nasty ways to get whatever he wished from me.”
Lana‘s voice felt as if it was filled with teary emotion while she was deeply hurt by whatever he had done with her. The supreme alpha on the other hand could not take it anymore, he wished Lana to step up for herself but now when she had been doing he did not like it.
He could not simply let her do whatever she wished to now that the woman was boldly speaking to him. Only he knew that Lana was his mate and he had already partially rejected her in his heart. The supreme alpha had been keeping her for his own benefit since she was both his cure and wolfsbane. He could not tell this to her nor could afford to let that news get out of the Belle Morte.
Sahan had to keep her confined within the walls of the castle so nobody could have any contact with her from outside. The only times when someone could actually talk to her was when he would be around. The supreme alpha felt conflicted as he listened to Lana speak and her words made him realise that he might have gone too far.
He knew that she was his mate, but he had been suppressing his feelings for her because of his own ego tha she was wolf less. He could not let his personal desires interfere with his responsibilities as the ruler. As Lana continued to speak, the supreme alpha realised that he had been using her for his own benefit.
Sahan knew by keeping her beside himself he would heal in no time, however it was still unsure how long the temporary counter of the curse would last. He felt ashamed and guilty for treating her that way, but he could not reveal his true feelings to her or to anyone in the castle. It would jeopardise his position as the supreme alpha and put the entire authority in danger for having a wolf less woman as the queen, the luna.
The supreme alpha took a deep breath as he averted his head and tried to calm himself before responding to Lana. Sahan had to do something in order to make her satisfy with his replies while persuading the woman to stay within Belle Morte. "I'm sorry that you feel that way, Lana, but you have no other place to go" he said in a gentle voice which stunned her because Lana did not expect him to apologise in any way. "I did not provide lord Pierce with any nasty ways to get what he wanted from you. I gave him the benefit of the situation and believed that he would not be able to take you away."
Sahan shrugged his shoulders with a proud smirk as if he was happy about whatever had happened. The man’s eyes were still glowing with the heated stare. However, as much as he looked handsome with that smile, Lana wished to snatch it from his face due to the aloof reply he had given.
“How could he take away something that is mine!? I just gave him the liberty to try to avenge his brother’s fair death.” The supreme alpha spoke knowing fully what he had been saying and Sahan was practically justifying his heinous actions by calling them perfect justice.
"But he did not….what if he had practically raped me right there? What would you have done, huh?" Lana interjected boldly by stating her fears as she was not sure what he was trying to say, her voice trembling with anger as the woman was hurt and was now unsure what her future might be. "And you knew that he would not hold back since you allowed him to, and you still allowed him to be around me with whatever intentions he had."
The supreme alpha sighed since Cyus did not want to fight over that matter once more. And it had already been enough and a lot more that he had offered to her to take in verbally. On the other hand Lana was not willing to set back by just that measly apology which itself was a big one in actual.
"I understand that you are upset, but you should start taking responsibility for your actions. And from now on you should be more proactive in protecting yourself from everyone around yourself, now that this thing has finally gotten into your head. When you will start taking action and protect yourself from every kind of harm since you have already witnessed the possible dangers. You have my word that no harm will befall on you as long as I am alive.”
Sahan's response seemed to shift the blame onto Lana and place the responsibility for her safety solely on her if she was willing to fight for herself. While it was true due to the lurking dangers in the kingdom that everyone should have started to take steps to protect themselves, including being aware of potential risks and avoiding dangerous situations such as encounters with the vampires. The supreme alpha just wanted Lana to be safe for his own benefit because he needed her alive to heal him properly.
By telling Lana to take responsibility for her actions and suggesting that she should have done more to protect herself in the past from day one, Sahan was invalidating her feelings and not fully addressing her concerns which revolved around her own existence. Instead, he should empathise with her fears and accept his feelings about him rather rejecting her for having no wolf.
Furthermore, he should have promised to protect Lana as long as he was alive, Sahan clearly had been making an inadvertently unhealthy power dynamic in their relationship which was already a master slave one. Lana could not take his words anymore because he had been constantly insulting her from day one. The woman threw back all the blame on the alpha once again as she confronted him, she leaped towards the man and reached for his collars.
