“Really now, huh?”
She was not in the mood to beat around the bush, that was why Lana clearly threw the fit this time. She did not care about the consequences anymore knowing that no matter what the supreme alpha would keep her alive. Lana sniffled as a warm tear crawled down her eyes once more because of the whole thing which made her seem nothing but a plaything for him.
It was understandable that Lana was feeling frustrated upon the whole matter because she was constantly being put down. And it made Lana even more upset with the dynamic of her relationship with the supreme alpha Sahan. It was not acceptable for her to feel like a plaything or like her needs and concerns were not being taken seriously.
“Now you are putting every blame on me, as if I am responsible for whatever harm has been to me. Was I the one who wore that gown intentionally? No!”
Lana yelled at him with tears crawling down her cheeks as she confronted him for his cruel actions and rudeness. She was not sure why the alpha was behaving like that as if she was not a human and her sole existence was nothing. Sahan looked at Lana with a blank expression on his face since he did not wish to give in, but his eyes gave away the fact that he was not taken aback by her sudden outburst anymore instead was angry over the way she had been confronting him. He had not expected her to confront him regarding his personal life like that, but he knew that he had brought this upon himself after all the way he had been treating her.
"You know I never intended to hurt you, Lana, but whatever had happened was brought on to yourself by you.” he calmly shifted the canons towards her once again, his voice calm but his eyes showing a hint of regret. "But sometimes, as the alpha, I have to make difficult decisions for the kingdom, and one of them includes keeping you inside the walls of Belle Morte.”
Sahan stood silently for a moment and while taking in Lana's words he could feel that whatever he had done was not right. The alpha knew that he had been harsh with her from day one, and he could see the pain in her eyes from all the deeds he had done to her. He took a deep breath and stepped closer to her, reaching out to gently wipe away her tears.
"You are right," he spoke to her softly while nearing the lady as he reached for her chin and lifted it gently. "I should not have treated you that way, and should not have given you away to that duke because you belong to me. I am sorry for making it difficult for you." The alpha was practically apologising to her and accepting his mistake which made the woman curious about his sudden change.
Lana looked up at him, surprised by his sudden change in demeanour. Lana looked up at Sahan, her eyes softening slightly which she was not conscious about. She could see the sincerity in his expression, and it made her heart ache mildly and race faster because it was the first time she was hearing him apologise.
"You are sorry?" she asked once again to confirm that whatever she heard was not her brain playing tricks, Lana’s voice trembling and her legs shaking even though she was in the alpha’s embrace and standing closer to him. Sahan nodded as the man looked into her emerald eyes with a strange emotion which Lana was unable to comprehend. "I know I have been distant and cold with you ever since you came here, but that is no excuse for the way I have treated you.” Sahan playfully toyed with her hair lock as he leaned in and adjoined his head with her forehead. She was taken aback by his overwhelming behaviour which made her heart race.
As soon as Sahan leaned in closer, Lana could feel her heart pounding in her chest, the only sound she could hear was her own heart. Despite everything that had happened between them, she could not help feeling drawn to him, and the physical closeness between both of them only intensified those feelings.
But at the same time, she felt conflicted because she could not trust him fully or his words could prove out pretty lies. Could she really trust him after everything he had done to her including all that nasty stuff? Was he just playing with her emotions again for his own benefit, or did he truly mean what he said at that moment?
“I want to make things right between us, if you'll let me."
Sahan toyed with her blonde hair lock as he parted his forehead with hers. She was not sure why the supreme alpha was playing with her. It was understandable that Lana felt conflicted about her own feelings for Sahan, given the past history between them Lana could not afford to open up in front of him. It was important for her to trust her instincts regarding the way his behaviour changed and she was determined to evaluate the situation carefully before making any decisions.
Lana may have wanted to consider having an honest and direct conversation with Sahan about her concerns. She could and was already expressing her feelings and asking him to explain his actions and intentions which had been making her confused. Her observant nature would be able to make her determine whether or not she can trust him, and if he truly meant what he said to her and if the confession of him changing was true or not.
Lana hesitated for a moment while looking into his eyes which flickered golden, unsure if she could trust him once again or not because putting faith in him would risk her life once again. But then she saw the sincerity in his eyes which probably was just her own assumption, and she wanted her heart to know that he meant what he said. She took a deep breath and nodded in the same breath as the supreme alpha, unknown to her that numerous women would kill to be in her place.
"Okay," she said while agreeing to whatever the alpha was offering her. Lana could see a smile appearing on his face which made Lana giddy all of a sudden . "I will give you another chance, your highness, if you only promise to treat me fairly."
Sahan smiled widely while looking at her intensely and faking his genuine concern, relief flooding through him that for a few days now he would not have to worry about Lana and her tantrums. He knew that he had a lot of work to do to earn Lana's trust to make her stay in Belle Morte for a longer time period till he could recover completely. But he was determined to do whatever it would take since he had to break the curse and heal fully if he wished to rule the kingdom properly. He took her hand and led her towards the door.
Lana smiled back as they exchanged a long stare while she was still in his embrace, feeling a glimmer of hope for the first time in a long while after she had arrived in the Belle Morte. She knew that things would not be easy ahead at all with the vow the supreme alpha had taken, but she was willing to try even if it would take her a while to observe things.
It was extremely concerning to see that Sahan was faking his concern for Lana and saw her as an inconvenience with her "tantrums" which he regarded as her constant confronting about that gown. Lana’s curiosity regarding that gown made Sahan annoyed because that was where it all started. That behaviour was not healthy in any kind of relationship and could be a red flag for Lana to re-evaluate her feelings for the supreme alpha and to observe the whole situation.
It was essential for Lana to trust her instincts fully and not let herself be manipulated by Sahan or taken advantage of, which he had already been doing. She should have been wary of Sahan's actions and words, and take the time to evaluate if he was truly trustworthy to entrust her own safety with him and has her best interests at heart.
“I hope things will get better, your highness.’
Lana suppressed her tears as she tried to calm herself with the newly found feelings. However, in the midst of all the conversation she totally forgot to ask Sahan about that gown once again. It was still not answered and Lana was still unaware to whom that dress belonged to. Because that was where everything started and it was the stimulus which made Sahan give her that treatment.
“Sahan, it is Sahan for you from now on.”
The alpha toyed with her hair lock once again and swirled it over his finger and leaned over till his breath fanned over her face.
