After talking with Leita, Lana was sure about one thing that no one could be trusted in the castle. Not even the supreme alpha, after all that man tried to sell her off to someone else. The vampiric attack had subsided and she could finally go out of that room, the whole atmosphere of the Belle Morte was itself super suspicious. Both of the women had talked about the matter of protection and decided that they would help each other.
As Lana processed her conversation with Leita, she could not help but feel a sense of betrayal from the supreme alpha and disappointment. She had always believed in the hierarchy of the Belle Morte which turned out to be a glittering farce now she began to question the power of the supreme alpha and his intentions to maintain order and justice. But now, after what had happened with the arrival of the vampires, her faith had been shaken to the core.
Despite her newfound distrust, Lana knew that she could not let her guard down even with Leita who was suspicious too. She had to be careful and strategic if she wanted to survive in that dangerous environment of the supernatural realm. Lana needed to find a way to protect herself and get out of the castle if she wanted to stay alive, even if it meant going against the supreme alpha and for some reason that idea had been giving her salvation.
She wondered how many other secrets and betrayals were hidden within the walls of the Belle Morte which appeared to be the fancy manifestation of death. With a heavy heart, Lana now determined on her path and plan now, she was well aware that the circumstances of her actions ahead would be filled with challenges and dangers. But she was determined to face them head-on especially the supreme alpha, and vowed to never let herself be caught off guard again.
After having that talk with Leita, Lana walked through the castle arcades back to her room, she could not shake the feeling of unease that settled in her chest and within the deepest layers of her skin. She had always known that the supernatural world could be dangerous, but she had never expected to find herself in the middle of a power struggle between the supreme alpha and the vampires. There was a lot more to the Belle Morte than just its grandeur and glitters.
As she walked through the corridors, Lana could not help but notice the suspicious looks she received from some of the staff members of the castle. Every single face was now looking suspicious and for some reason she could feel that everyone was conspiring against her. Lana knew that her reputation was a threat to the Belle Morte and the people of kingdom Selene because of her peculiar blood, and it had spread quickly like wildfire. The incident of the killings and now the vampiric arrival was possibly caused by her, she knew that she needed to be careful not to attract too much attention.
Lana took bigger steps as she lifted the gown even more to pace up towards her bedchambers. The woman took a deep breath and tried to shake off the uneasiness that still lingered within her after talking to Leita because she refused to tell her about the controversial gown’s story. The attack by the vampires had been a brutal reminder to Lana of the dangers that lurked in the Belle Morte, and she knew that she needed to be vigilant now till she could find the perfect moment to leave.
Leita had warned her that the supreme alpha was not to be trusted, however that statement was solely based on her opinion and experience with Sahan Rhaziel. But Lana could not also negate it or soothe herself that she might be someone different for him because after the lord Pierce’ attempt she was sure that the supreme wanted something from her.
The very thought made Lana feel a pang of disappointment because her assumptions about Sahan taking interest in her shattered like a glass. She had always believed that those in power had a responsibility to protect their people, but it seemed that the supreme alpha was only interested in his own gain. Lana was now well aware at that time regarding what benefit it could be.
As she made her way back to her chambers, Lana continued to talk to herself and wonder who else in the castle was hiding their true intentions. She had always been trusting her instincts since her tough childhood, but it seemed that even that was difficult in a world where deception and betrayal were commonplace and lurking in every single corner of the castle.
For the first time, Lana began to question whether she was truly safe in the castle because she had been attacked twice within the walls of Belle Morte. The woman was still not able to comprehend after whom the vampires were at and if it was her then possibly what they could have wanted from her. The thing had been causing her a lot of confusion that she reached her room and slammed the door shut.
Lana threw herself on the bed while catching her breath which had already been irregular the moment she left the room after talking to Leita. After she had calmed down she looked around or any kind of threat and the first thing her eyes instinctively looked at were the windows.
“It seems the vampires are gone. The supreme alpha must be dealing with this issue with his beta and other authoritative members. It is the perfect distraction for me.”
She thought for a few moments while lying on the bed as her heart pounded faster in her chest that the only voice she could hear was her terrified heart. She was afraid now that even if she managed to run at that time the alpha might catch her either wya.
However, it was worth a try because dying was still a better option than living as an enslaved person within the castle. Lana shot up from the bed and headed towards the door and just as she was about to open it the thing slammed opened leaving her frightened. Lana was feeling very afraid of putting her plan into action but at the same time she was desperate, considering taking drastic action to escape from the clutches of the supreme alpha. Despite her fear, she has decided that the risk of trying to escape is worth it.
‘No, no!’
She felt like dying inside when the door opened because It was still unclear what had caused the door to open so suddenly, but one thing was certain that someone - or something had been trying to prevent Lana from leaving Belle Morte. She reflexively stepped back to avoid showing that she was about to leave the room.
It appeared that Lana was feeling very scared that her legs began to shake and since her mind became blank immediately which made her unsure of what to do next. The sudden opening of the door left her feeling vulnerable and exposed, and instinctively she thought that perhaps the vampires had somehow managed to trespass and intrude in her room. She was not sure whether now it was safe for her to leave the room or stay there to wait for her death.
Her reflexive step back made it clear that she was trying to stay out of sight, possibly in the hopes of avoiding any potential danger which would come through the door. However, it's important for her to consider her options and make a decision about what to do next. For which her mind immediately looked around for any thing of thing which could be used as a weapon.
She knew she was in immediate danger and if the person was a vampire then it meant that they had managed to intrude and conquer the castle too. In that case everyone including the supreme alpha was dead and she may need to find a way to defend herself or seek help from others. And possibly that could involve calling out for assistance, finding a weapon or other object to defend herself, or trying to escape through a window or another exit.
That was all she could think about reflexively. It was understandable that Lana would be feeling a sense of urgency and fear in that situation. It was doubtful that the person who opened the door was a vampire, but if her hunch was true and it was possible that they had managed to infiltrate the castle and take control then everyone was in danger.
Lana could not find anything which could have been used as a weapon in her defense. That was why she parted her lips and yelled loudly, on the top of her lungs so somebody outside could hear her.
“HELP! SAVE M-!”
Her eyes were still fixated on the door but before she could complete her words somebody locked her mouth. Lana glanced at the man with her shocked emerald eyes and saw the alpha right in front of her. The man’s glaring shining orbs were looking intensely straight into her terrified eyes. She was unsure of what to do because alpha Sahan was strong enough to keep her in the place and leave her immoveable.
