‘This woman! How dare she speak to me like that?’
Leita's words made her mad even though she was used to those kinds of words and insults. But this time she was triggered mainly because Lana was actually punished by the alpha. She looked at Leita’ proud expressions and her blood boiled because she could not accept the treatment given by the alpha.
Frustration builds, anger takes hold,
Lana's mind became uncontrolled; she mumbled to herself, lost in thought the turmoil within cannot be fought. She tried to calm, but the rage persisted regarding how she was being treated. Her mind becomes consumed, and her thoughts resist. The self-mumbling soothed her soul but the anger within still taken its toll. She needed an outlet, a way to release, to find peace and finally find some ease. Perhaps some venting or some sneaky revenge could help her find a way out of that mess.
The man bought her as if she was a thing, Sahan then ridiculed and trampled over her self respect. Lana was forced to play in front of him which was unacceptable for her and Leita’s words made her recall all that. She could not accept the defeat and was angry that everyone in the castle was probably aware of her miserable situation. After all, one of the maids saw her sitting on the floor when Pierce visited the castle.
Lana was being ridiculed ever since her arrival at the castle. And now Leita was adding fuel to fire which was not bearable for her. Lana's rights were being violated or she felt that she was being treated unfairly, it was definitely necessary for her to speak up and advocate for herself. As per the alpha’s rules, it was important for individuals to assert themselves and communicate their needs and boundaries. However, it was also important to approach the situation with tact and respect for others, and to seek a peaceful resolution if possible.
But perhaps that was not what Lana wanted or wished for. Approaching a situation with confidence and a positive attitude that could be helpful, if that was even helpful while talking to Leita or any other person present in the Belle Morte. In any normal situation Lana would have resorted to approach situations with empathy, respect, and a willingness to understand and work with others. But it was not the right time to do that with Leita when she had been mocking her for no damn reason.
Lana could not help but clench her fists because she could not take that mock. The situation seemed to have switched now that Leita was having the upper hand. She stood there with a smirk making it evident that she was not the one who would get bullied. Lana on other hand was not expecting the sudden switch of the tables. Now neither she could bluntly show her rage nor she could ask Leita more about the situation.
“No, I was not punished for such a measly matter.”
Lana boldly lied in her face without knowing that her words were hollow. Although she tried to sound convincing and all that way Lana acted so proud all of a sudden did not go well with her words. Leita was certain now that she had been lying and that was why she felt pity towards her.
A confrontational or aggressive approach which was initiated by Leita escalated into a worst situation and made it more difficult to resolve. Feeling pity towards Lana who had lied with a straight face was the utmost natural reaction Leita expected from her. But she could not help herself from not feeling bad for her, and that was why she approached the situation with empathy in her heart after all she could not let her true intentions become visible.
“I can clearly see you are lying, you naive woman.”
A smirk appeared on Leita’s face as she did not hold back from telling the truth to Lana. The woman unfolded her arms and dawdled towards the bed encouraging Lana that she could trust her. Lana’s antics and antsy dawned upon her and Leita could guess that she was actually unaware of the situation. It was common for people to feel panicked or anxious when caught in a lie. However, Lana did not wanted to show her emotions since in her vision Leita was still not someone she could trust.
Lana simply stared at her for a moment as she could not take any step forward knowing that whatever Leita said was true. The woman could feel cold settling in the room and the fear crawled down in the deepest layers of her skin when she heard those words. Lana’s heart pounding in her chest. With each crash of some metallic sound which was audible from outside, fear crawled deeper and deeper into her mind, until she was consumed by a paralyzing terror.
Whereas, Leita looked at her from the bed as she smirked and somehow she looked relatively calm compared to her. Lana reflexively looked at the roof and gasped when she saw a shadow near the ventilation point and was taken aback. She wished to scream assuming that the vampires outside must have come for her but her voice was caught in her throat.
‘No, no. I don’t want to die here like this. I have to get out of here without being noticed, but if I go out now I will be killed.”
It was choked off by the fear that had taken hold of her. She could feel her hands shaking and her breath coming in short. Lana knew her life was at stake and if she did not leave then the alpha will sell her to someone else either way.
While completely having ragged gasps as Lana struggled to keep her composure the woman took a few steps closer to Leita. The woman smiled knowing that the yelling and the deafening screeching of the vampiric birds was frightening her even more.
