‘Have I said something wrong?’

Lana could clearly see that the woman in front of her was having mixed emotions and views towards her. Leita was oozing dangerous vibes along with the glare she threw at her making it obvious that she was dubious and enraged over her presence.

‘Why is she even angry with me for no reason? I did not even know she was here.’

Leita was not happy to see Lana there and now that she had disclosed her identity it enraged her even more. The woman was not alone in the room because when Lana turned around she could see the faint black smoke near the ventilation. Since it was going out of the bedchambers it was clear that the smoke was not an ordinary one.

Lana had no idea who it could be because kingdom Selene was a welcoming place for supernatural beings. However, the civilians were still skeptical about the vampires and the very trait Lana witnessed belonged only to the vampires. Although her suspicion grew about Leita being involved with the vampires or perhaps they had come for her instead.

But it was still too early to decide something, thus she kept quiet and tried to engage in the conversation with Leita even further. Lana took one small step further and halted to gain trust of Leita so she could extort some important information. She seemed like someone who had a lot of knowledge about Belle Morte and the people residing there.

“I do not pose any threat to you, miss. Please do not think like that.”

Lana thought for a bit before speaking because she had to cautiously choose her words not to mess up the situation. Her eyes travelled towards Leita’s hands as she saw the woman’s fists tightly done. Lana assumed that she might have said something wrong that was why she immediately shut up.

“You!”

Leita lowered her head as she spoke in a shallow tone while gritting which made her rage obvious. Whereas Lana had also figured out that she was unhappy to be around her that was why she immediately turned around.

“I can leave if you are upset. Please do not be angry, miss.”

She reached for the doorknob after speaking and completely ignored her voice.

Leita on the other hand grew agitated over Lana’s reaction and it angered her that she was ignored. The woman shouted at Lana as she clenched her fists even tighter and lifted her head to look at her.

“Stop right there!”

Lana’s footsteps halted upon hearing the bombarding voice which could shatter anyone’s confidence.

Lana was well aware that she could not be an ordinary staff member of Belle Morte. Because no unimportant person was given that much priority that someone was guarding her. That was the only reason she was cautious of Leita but Lana also did not intend to leave the room at all. After all, why would she go out acknowledging that the vampires could still be lurking.

She only intended to display her respect and the submission to persuade Leita to stop her. Lana could grasp that if she ignored Leita she would definitely make her stay to quarrel with her. Playing the reverse card and making Leita do what she wanted Lana succeeded in her intentions. A wide lopsided grin appeared on her lips when she heard Leita’s loud voice fused with ire.

“You….”

Lana suppressed her smirk and turned around imminently to look at Leita while pretending to be curious. Since Lana also had no wolf or powers of any sort thus she could not really sense that Leita was a human.

"You are the one who wore that dress and put my life in danger!"

Leita spoke without beating around the bush because there was no way she was going to figure her now.

On the other hand Lana was not sure what she had been talking about and it was visible from her facial features. A few lines creased over her forehead as her eyebrows burrowed together in confusion. Whereas Leita was not in a mood to mess around, the woman resumed her words making it obvious and clear to Lana why she was angry.

"Where the fuck did you even get that gown?"

Leita seemed more irritated than angry as if she had no clue whether to scold her for stealing or to get angry for putting her life at stake. Even though Lana was still confused about how that gown incident could affect Leita when it had nothing to do with her. The woman had to say something to clear her part because the way Leita had been talking to her was unacceptable.

"But how is that even possible? I do not even know you. Nor do have we crossed paths before."

Lana panicked upon hearing her words because she had not done anything bad to anyone. Well, of course except cursing that family who was the reason of her mother's death and burning them down alive. That particular memory was still as fresh as every single sunrise and Leita’s words reminded her the flashbacks of her mother's miserable life and poverty.

Leita rolled her eyes over Lana's antsy reaction which according to her was just a pretense to cover up her tracks of blunderous deed. However, it did stop her to further scold Lana while disclosing the potential chaotic situation which she had created.

"Do you even realise that it is not only about me but everyone else too who works at Belle Morte? Not that I care about any."

The woman immediately realised what she just uttered because Leita could not reveal her relationship with the beta Curtis. She scoffed and smacked her lips trying to appear convincing about her uncaring claim towards everyone in the castle.

"I am certain you were punished for donning that dress."

Leita crossed her arms over her chest and looked at Lana with a challenging gaze while attempting a subtle mock.
