30- The Story Of Ezmerelda: The Middle
The work day was hard and when Vlad made his way home it was dark outside. Vlad made his way inside the pitch-black house and the first place he went to was Ezmerelda’s room. Imagine the shock he had when she wasn’t in her room. He called her name and searched all over for her, but she was nowhere to be found. So, he went outside.
“Ezmerelda!!” He yelled as he quickly walked through the Village. “Ezmerelda!!” He yelled again. He stopped when he came face to face with the darkness of the forest. There was Something that was just pulling him to the forest. He didn’t know what it was, but soon he found his feet automatically walking to the forest. He was going to protest but he felt that he needed to go there. Soon he found himself walking through the darkness of the forest to an unknown location. His heart was pounding in his chest, but he kept talking. “Ezmerelda!” He called out again but not as loudly as before as he kept on walking. “Ezmerelda.” He called out again. Then in the middle of the forest what he saw he couldn’t believe. There was someone hunched over a man and it looked like they were eating his neck. The body twitched in the persons arms and then stilled.
Vlad walked closer to the two people and saw that there was another body next to them, blood surrounding her neck. Vlad slowly took a step back but he stepped on a branch causing it to snap. The person stopped what ever they were doing, then dropped the body in their arms and slowly stood up. Vlad saw that it was a small being, in a cream color nightgown.
The person stood in the shadow and Vlad couldn’t get a good look at their face. Until the person stepped into the moonlight and Vlads eyes went wide.
There in the moonlight stood his sister, well it looked like his sister but for some reason she looked different, changed somehow. Her once dull black hair was now beautiful thick and looked to be the color of red wine. Her eyes were just a straight black color and it scared him. Her skin which was tan before it turned a deathly pale was now beautiful soft and fair. Her mouth was covered in blood and it ran down her chin, neck, as well as the whole front of her nightgown.
She blinked a few times then her eyes went back to the light brown that he was used to but they were a little brighter. Her body was more filled out with curves and she looked like a beautiful woman.
“Ezmerelda.” He whispered out in disbelieve.
“Vlad, What’s wrong with me?” She said as she started crying. Quickly he grabbed her up and carried her off home leaving the dead bodies behind. His number one priority being his sister, no matter what was going on she always came first.
When they made it into the house, Vlad quickly made their way to the bathroom and placed her in it telling her to get undress. He started the chimney fire to heat up some water and burned the bloody nightgown. They both waited in silence as the water heated up and when it came to the perfect temperature he carried the large pot to the bathroom. Ezmerelda just continued to sit in the white bath tub, hugging her legs to her chest.
Vlad used half of the water from the large pot to fill the tub and the other half he filled with soap and used a sponge to help wash her. While she just sat there in a daze. He washed the blood from her mouth, face chest and the rest of her body.
When he was done he used the little bit of clean water he had left and rinsed the soap off her body. He got a robe and helped her out of the tube and wrapped it around her body. He brought her to her room and then helped her get dress in a nightgown for the night. She sat in bed her back against the wall and just stared at her hands in fascination.
“Ezmerelda,” Vlad said lowly “What happened to you?”
“I don’t know Vlad one minute I was feeling terribly sick, then he spoke to me.” She said.
“He, He who?” Vlad asked curiously.
“God,” She answered bitterly “He was so evil so cruel Vlad. He said that because you think he’s so useless he’s going to keep his promise and make me well and healthy forever. But as a price I was never supposed to wake up.”
Vlad clenched his jaw in anger. How dare God do such a terrible thing. Trying to give them such a terrible fate.
“Then how?” He asked in silence.
“After, the conversation I had with God, I met Lucifer. He was so very Kind to me.” She started, Vlad gave her a weird look, anyone would have. “He told me that you were willing to sell your soul for me but was interrupted by God. So he made a deal with me. I would be healthy and live forever but the catch is I would need blood to survive, I would look like this forever and would be sensitive to sunlight. He said this was the first time he’s creating someone like me and he wanted to see how it would tune out.”
“Did you kill those people in the woods?” Vlad asked sitting next to his sister. She just nodded.
“I didn’t mean to, I was just so thirsty I couldn’t help myself Vlad please believe me.” Ezmerelda begged and Vlad nodded.
Then he was silent for a moment. They needed a plan if Ezmerelda was going to be this blood lustful being they needed a plan. He wasn’t about to lose his baby sister. He was to quiet for Ezmerelda’s liking and she was starting to ger nervous.
“What are you thinking about Vlad?” She asked him.
“A plan Ezmerelda, we’re going to have to keep this between us, no one can know about it. So what we’re going to do is play it like any other day. Your going to stay in bed, pretend that your sick and I will go to work.”
“What if I get thirsty again?” Ezmerelda asked him.
“Don’t worry about that I’ll help you fulfill your thirst.” Ezmerelda looked at her brother in awe. She was amazed that he was so calm about the situation, but she could understand. They were all each other had and just like she didn’t want to lose him, he didn’t want to lose her. She just nodded, and he wrapped his arms around her pulling her close to him.
“I’ll protect you always” He told her.
