34- A Wolf Becomes a Rat PT: 2
Their camp site was filled with nothing but Huge tents. This must be their temporary site, they led me to the largest tent in the middle of them all. Then Joseph took a seat behind a large rectangular table while his men stood around the table. “Now tell me about your little plan.”
“Well my plan is anything but little.” I stated feeling a bit offended as I took the seat across from him” Tomorrow around 10am Elias and Mila will be going to the rouge empire, they will be there all-day discussing plans about war against you and the angels. That will be your opening, Alpha Townsends pack has the thinnest barrier protection. Around 7pm is when the barrier on that end breaks just for about 5 minutes. That’s your in time. Elias is working on having the barrier strengthen with the help of Queen Nuala. So It’s now or never.”
They all just sat back and listened to everything I had to say. “but that’ll only be part one to the plan.”
Joseph gave me a confused look “Part one?”
I chuckled “What do you think that you could just take over the whole empire from just attacking one Pact? I don’t think so.”
Joseph looked down and rubbed his chin like he was thinking hard. “So, tell me the rest of your plan.”
“Well, when the attack happens, it won’t be a big one, just a few things here and there nothing big.”
“What’s the sense of an attack if we’re not going to actually going to do something big?′ Kevin said. He was really starting to get on my nerves. “Alpha Townsend has one of the largest pacts, if we take that one down that would be a big punch to the wolf empire.” he said to Joseph. Joseph just nodded.
“He has a point Dianna,” Joseph said and I rolled my eyes and he just smirked but continued. “This is a rare opportunity for us, now tell us why we shouldn’t take this opportunity.”
I just sat back “ok I will, now you tell me would you rather just take your chances taking down one pact. Because if you do a huge attack on that one pact do you think it’s going to be easy taking down the other pacts? No matter the size, they will double up on security and you won’t even get a chance to breath in the direction of another pact without being attacked first.”
Everyone was quiet at my comment and I took that as a chance to continue. “Now part two to my plan. After the attack Elias would call an emergency meeting with the council and the Alpha’s to talk about war plans. That’s, when you attack. Send in the angels and all your men they would be caught completely off guard. Now you tell me, don’t you think that’s better? To catch all the leaders of all the empires in one place. Ooor do you still want to just take down one pact?” I just sat back and smirked at them as they all sat around and just looked at each other.
Then they all started talking at once, and I could care less about what they were talking about. Joseph engaged a little in the conversations, but his eyes were trained on me.
“Alright!!” Joseph yelled over everyone. “Dianna, we’ll go along with your plan and it better work.” With that he shooed everyone out of the room leaving just me and him. He just stared at me as he sat in his chair and honestly, it made me uncomfortable.
“Well if that’s all I’ll just be on my way.” I said getting up, Placing the hood back over my head as I got ready to leave.
“I’ll walk you out.” He said getting up and walking past me.
The walk back to the Wolf Empire border was quiet with nothing but the sound of the sticks crunching beneath our feet’s. When we made it close to the border he stopped and turned to me. His glare was intense, as he stared at me. “I hope this works Dianna,” He said walking closer to me. “Because I would hate to see a beautiful, she-wolf get hurt.” His hand rose to my cheek as he gently caressed it and honestly it made my heart start to pound a bit in my chest.
“Don’t worry, It will.” I said in a low voice. We stared at each other some more before he nodded and then started to walk back to his camp. And I made my way across the border not daring to look back, but I couldn’t help it. When I crossed, I turned only to see him staring after me. Blushing and heart pounding I turned back around and continued my walk home.
When I made it back to the mansion I now dreaded to call home, I crept inside making sure not to make a sound. The halls were dark and as I made my way to my room, I passed the kitchen only to come face to face with the one man that I hated the most, Elias.
He looked at me with shock and confusion, and I couldn’t help my eyes from roaming over his gorgeous body. He wore only pajama pants; his hair was messy like he just woke up. In his muscular arms he carried a carton of Ice cream, rocky road flavor, a bag of large marshmallows and a spoon. We just stared at each other for a moment, until he cleared his throat breaking the awkward silence.
“Dianna.” Was all he said.
“Elias.” I responded with a nod.
“Your up pretty late,” he said giving me a questioning look as he eyed my outfit.
I just chuckled a bit “I could say the same for you,” I started “But I could see why. The Luna Queen has mid-night cravings, doesn’t she?”
He looked down in his arms and just nodded “Yeah and its kind of a pain.” He said giving a small chuckle and I couldn’t help but smile. But soon my smile faded when I came to realization. This is the first time in years that we were in the same room and had a decent conversation, and it was about a woman he chose over me, a woman that was carrying his child, a woman that was living the life I was supposed to live. And sadness quickly took over.
He stopped chuckling when he noticed my change in mood and cleared his throat. “I better get back.” He said nodding in the direction of the hall that led to his room. I just nodded as I looked down not really trusting my voice.
Then I heard him sigh and then a whole bunch of shuffling and then I felt him place a hand on my shoulder. I looked up and he was smiling at me! Like a true honest and genuine smile. “Listen Dianna,” he started “I’m sorry for the way that things turned out, but if you think about it, we weren’t making each other happy at all. But now I’m happy, and I know that some where out there, is a person that will make you happy. That person just isn’t me, I’m sorry.” With that he pulled me into a tight embrace, it didn’t last long just a second or two. I knew it was his way of saying good bye and not wanting to leave things on a bad note. He pulled away from me and with a smile he said, “I wish you all the happiness in the world.” Then he gathered his things and left.
And that just pissed me off even more then I already was! Did he really think he could just walk away from me, as if I didn’t matter? I was his first mate, the mate the moon goddess made for him, not her. He belongs with me not her.
It was true we really weren’t happy, hell we couldn’t even be in the same room together without cursing at each other. Most of the time we just ignored each other’s presence. But that wasn’t the point he was my mate he was supposed to stay with me no matter what. And if I can’t have him then no one could.
