Chapter 28: Princess Bella
[Bellatrix:]
"Princess Bella, His Majesty would like to have you at the moment" I should be startled at the sudden baby-like melodious voice speaking to me, but I am not. After all I have had enough surprises for the past few days or two weeks if I might be skeptical enough.
I turn around to see who the voice belongs to, and standing just a few feet away from me is a young girl, probably eighteen or nineteen I guess and boy does she gives it away that her favorite colour is blue. She is dressed in a blue gown, her hair is a mass of flaming blue and even her irises, christ.. "That's a lot of blue there girl" I cannot help but comment
She grins and shrug. "Well, my name is Blue, Princess and I would be your handmaiden as from this day"
"I see. That's okay I guess, but perhaps we can make some things clear on the issue of privacy, don't you think? Like the fact that I would like you coming through the door after a knock rather than appearing out of think air, mhm?" I grin back at her.
I hear a visible gulp and then she nods her head. "Definitely, Princess"
"Good. Now that we are clear on that, what were you saying earlier?"
"Ha, yes.." she begins clearing her throat, I wonder what she is clearing though, I mean her voice is already so tiny as it is. She continues. "His Majesty has ordered that you be brought to his presence, but as your handmaid I have to make you presentable to stand before the royal court."
"I would argue though that I am more than capable to make myself presentable to a court that would bow to me.. right?" I say as I start to pull of my robe.
"I do not think so Princess" Blue responds, collecting my robe before walking with me into the bathroom. "Would you like a warm bath or a cold one? or perhaps a scalding hot one?" She asks as I step into the bathtub which surprisingly is not filled with water yet?
"A warm bath would be nice" I mutter. She nods and then places her hand over the tub. I watch her curiously as she closes her eyes and I almost scream as the tub fills up to my neck with warm water.
Blue opens her eyes back and smiles down at me. "Now I can leave you to your bath while I sort out the regalia for your reveal."
"My reveal?" I arch a brow at her. "What's that?"
"His Majesty is going to reveal you to the whole kingdom as the lost princess of L'agaib" She answers.
"Oh.." I say, nodding my head in understanding.
Blue beams at me, her dazzling blue irises shining brightly as she responds to me. "If you would excuse me now Princess Bella"
I watch herr leave after which I sink down into the bath tub, allowing the warm foamy water cascades its way over my body. The feel of it is soothing to my nerves and I close my eyes trying to put my mind off stuffs that has been happening for the past one month. Me being Lost Fae, finding out my so-called parents were not really my parent, being Mate to an Alpha even though I had spent my whole life detesting lycanthrope and whatever else there was.
Everything that had happened was just so overwhelming for me, but as I lay in the tub with the familiar sense of being home engulfing me, I feel more at peace with myself than I have ever felt in my entire life. I am where I rightly belong... My true home.
~
I keep tugging at the goddamn laces Blue had used to imprison me in this stupid dress which looked like what the ladies of old britain used to wear way back in time or rather as Blue had said it is to secure the tightening of the corset of the beautiful dress.. those were her words not mine, and I definitely do not agree with her. I mean I would have loved to have on a crop top and probably joggers but thanks to civilisation not finding its way into the fae kingdom, they had nothing like that.
"We are here" The guard whom Michal had sent to lead me to him announces when we get to the entrance of wherever this is.
"Thank you Braxton, I will take her from here" I am not shocked at his sudden appearance, I am only surprised that he is actually here.
"Vassily!" I exclaim.
His lips curls up to a smile and he cocks his brows at me. "Do you remember me now little one. I do not reply, instead I launch myself at him in a fierce hug. How could I have forgotten Vas? Trik's and my trainer. Father's most trusted warrior.
"Why did you not come for me all these years Vas? did you forget about me too?" My lips are quivering as I try to hold the tears back by sniffing them back in.
Vassily pulls away from my hug holding just at his arm's length to stare at me. "You of all people know I would never forget you"
"Then why did you let me spend half of my life lost in the mortal realm?"
"Because at that time, that was what was best for you little one. The dark Fae had taken His Majesty and the Queen hostage and we could not bring you back for fear that they might come for you too. And we had to rebuild the kingdom for the survivors of the attack.. it took us years to fix the damage little one, but now it is all good as new which is why we decided to bring you back home"
I raise my hands to wipe at the stray tear that has managed to find its way down my cheek. "I could have been around to help, you know."
Vassily sighs as he pats my hair gently. "And that could have risked your life then, but now you are here and I promise you everything will soon return back to how it should have always been. We will find your parents and your brother and bring them back here and then we will be a whole L'agaib again."
It is my turn to sigh as he finishes his statement, because deep down I know he is wrong. Nothing would ever remain the same again, it is now I start to feel the weight of whatever is coming on my shoulders.
"I have a lot to do, right Vas?" I say, stating the obvious.
"I would not lie to you Bella.. There is a lot to do, but first you have to meet the council" Vassily pats my head again and then leads me into the council room.
There stood the statue of Ishtar, the fairy goddess directly behind the seat on which Michal sat which was at the head of a circular table which Elders which I can tell are the council members are gathered around on their respectful seats. Well Elders except Tian who is also amongst them, he is definitely not an elder. And as I walk further in, I feel a cold trill run down my spine.... why? is what I do not understand.
"Here she is" Michal says when Vassily leads me to the empty chair beside him, while he, Vassily goes to sit at another end of the table. "The hope of our better future, The lost princess of our Kingdom.. Princess Bella of L'agaib!"
The room is silent, too silent for my liking and I do not miss the judging look from every angle I glance to. Then someone speaks, A woman. "How are we so sure she is our Princess? For all we know she could be a fake"
I look at who has spoken and I am taken aback at the heated glare she is giving me. "She will prove it" Michal replies her calmly and then he turns to me.. "Prove it little one, prove that you are the rightful heir to the throne" he says.
There is that dreadful silence again as they all wait for whatever proof they want to get. But they won't get it, not today and certainly not because I have no idea of what I should do which I do not to be honest, but because there is one thing I have hated all my life and it is being challenged. So I slam my palms on the table which definitely shocks them all and whisper in the most of my dangerous calm voice I can summon at the moment.
"I am Princess Bella, Daughter of King Kane and his Queen Enola.... The lost Princess of L'agaib... You either take it, or leave it." With that I sit back down and add, "Shall we begin the council meeting?"
