Chapter 36: Back in Howls

[Bellatrix:]
Beep. Beep.. Low mumblings, or are they low or it'd just my ear hearing things that way, because even the beep sounds so faint and distant. I try to move my body but it'd like it is strapped to a place. I sigh, drifting off again.
When I wake up again, the mumblings has stopped and the beep sound is closer. I move my fingers.
"Holy shit!" My eyes shoot open at the sudden voice beside me.
"Trix?" I let out a strangled gasp as I notice Kay sitting beside me.
"Kay" I try to sit up, but I feel a hold of pain zilt through my head ad I do.
"Don't force it, Sis" she says, pushing my shoulders BC back down.
"What's happening Karen, why are you here?" I still do not know where I am so I let my eyes travel around the room. The door which I actislly just noticed flings open and I blink as he walks in — Alec.
His eyes are bloodshot and the normal sparkle in his blue orbs is not there. He rushes over to my side nsking Karen step away. Soon he is kneeling over and caressing my cheeks with his callous palms. "Bella" His voice comes out like a throaty breath he had been trying to hold. "You are awake"
Reflexly I lean my face into his hands, all the while still not knowing what is going on, but yet again thankful for the familiar warmth Alec brings me. I have missed him — like damn I have. But i would certainly not say that out loud.
"She is awake! Oh goddess, finally!" Wait... That squeaky tiny voice. I sit up regardless of the heavy throbbing I feel. I am more aware of my surroundingd now, realizing that I am actually in an hospital room? The beeping sound I was hearing earlier was actually the IV machine I was attached to, and now in this hospital room stands Karen at the far end beside the door and Blue — my fae maid, both with a mix of panic and relief looks etched on their faces and Alec, is right here beside me.
"What happened?" I ask no one in particular but still expecting someone to answer. I rack my brain also trying to remember what had happened and how I ended up outside the Fae realm because this certainly is not Astrid, and seeing Karen and Alec here leaves me with an option. "Am I in Howls?"
"Leave us for a while." Alec says to Blue and Karen. They do so, closing the door behind them.
Alec sighs and takes a sit beside me. The bed dips with his weight and I gulp, marveling at how his closeness still speeds up the rate of my heartbeat. He stares at me silently and I can tell from the twitching and constant flicker of his eyes, it looks like he doesn't actually believe I am here. Well that makes two of us, the last I remember I was freezing over the dark fae realm and controlling an earthquake... Right, the earthquake, I remember being thrown off balance by it. What had happened afterwards?
"Alec?"
Alec sighs, running his hands through his hair and in a swift moment he pulls me into an almost crushing hug. I gasp at his sudden act, but then I lean in instinctively to his embrace.
"Bella, you do not know how much I have missed you" he says, sniffing my hair as if commiting my scent into his memory. I stay quiet, he does not have to know I feel the same. He releases me barely, cupping my face.
"I want to kiss you so bad right now, but I also want to be a gentleman and let you recuperate before I do that." He all but growls, staring into my eyes, like he is actually looking into my soul — like he can see the those feelings I have bottled up inside. "The past two months has been torture for me" he continues, "I almost came back for you"
"But you didn't, did you not say your mark can lead you to me? Thats how you came the first time right?"
"You told me to leave, Bella.. You practically shoved me out of your realm" he sighs. "We should forget about that don't you think?" He forced a smile.
There is silence for a while as we both revel in the reality of being in each other's arms. "You know—" Alec resumes speaking again but he is cut short by the abrupt opening of the door.
"Human friend! Or isn't it Fae now?" She grins widely as she rushes inside.
"Leila!" I am even more shocked at the excitement in my voice just as Alec yells to her.
"Lee, stand back!" She frowns, coming to an unplanned halt a few feet away. He just used his Alpha command on her.
Leila snorts at her brother. "You are no fun at all" then she turns to me. "Damn girl, you made such a grand entrance.
My brows crease, trying to understand what she means. "What are you talking about? What grand entrance?"
"Well, yo–"
"Lee, shut the hell up!" Alec snaps, instantly getting up. Lee visibly shivers at his harsh tone.
"What grand entrance Alec, how did I get here?" What is happening? Like what the hell are they talking about?.
"Listen Bella, there are a lot of things we have to talk about, but I'm afraid I am not in the right place to do so, beside you are still weak and I–"
"Bullshit!" I pull myself up, IV and all.
"Bella!" Alec frantically holds me steady, I do not protest, instead I flag my arms beside me.
"See? I'm fine? I'm perfectly fine, so just tell me what's going on, because the last time I checked I was on Astrid in a fight with Lyon Starkev"
"Get Hera" Alec says to Leila.
"It's okay, I'm here.. And I will just take it from here" Hera says, appearing out of thin air like she always does. She smiles at me and helps me back to the bed, practically making Alec let go of me.
"Like i said Alpha, I'll take it from here.. And your mate will join you shortly" she says in a reassuring voice.. Alec sighs, placing a kiss on my forehead before finally leaving along with Leila. The door shuts behind them, leaving Hera and I in a temporary quietude, and then some minutes or seconds later, she speaks again.
"It is nice to finally meet you, Princess Bellatrix"
I tilt my head, regarding her with a rattled frown at her choice of words, "You've known me for over four months, Hera."
Hera chuckles.. "That depends, I knew Bellatrix Fallon, not princess Bella of the Fae Kingdom"
"Ha.." I nod my head in understanding. "Right."
"Okay, that established.. Let's get to the reason why I need to talk you, it's–"
"Wait..." I raise my hand, cutting her off. "I need to know Hera, how did I get here?"
"That is exactly what I want to talk about..."
"Okay?"
"The pool of transition... It froze over and we saw you lying atop of it"
"What?! What are you talking about.. I mean– wait, did you say I froze it over?"
"I did not necessarily mention that, but from what you say... Is there a reason for you to believe you did that?" Her expectant gaze has me reeling back in my memory.
"My element, my element is ice and earth and while I was fighting with Starkev, I released both my elements... Does this mean I did that?"
Hera let's out a strangled breath. "I really don't know, but we have to figure that out as we do not have much longer time to waste..." She starts to pull out the drips from my body. "These has to go off" she says, "so you could heal yourself with your magic"
Right, as a Fae, I am able to heal myself.. Why didn't I think of that when I woke up. "How long was I out?" I ask Hera as I try to focus on my healing magic.. I feel the cuts and bruises srartinh to heal and I cannot help the tug of smile on my lips, well that is until Hera replies my question sullenly.
"Five days"
My eyes widen in shock and I feel a slam as I forcefully pull out my concentration from healing myself. That doesn't matter now, because Five days is a whole lot of days and within those days.. A lot of things could have gone wrong – or rather, already gone wrong. The look on Hera's face is enough to make me know that.
"How bad is it?"
"A lot more worse, Princess Bella.. This would be a lot more worse even than the first supernatural war"
The first supernatural war, the one between the Lycan, Vampire and Fae which also led to the war between the dark Fae and Light Fae and if this is worse than that then; "Fuck it!"
