Chapter 35: Escaping K'abel [ll]

Fear - that one emotion that makes you human, just as much as it can kill. I hate it.. I hate feeling it, because it fucks things up. But right now, the only thing I can focus on, is my fear of the fire breathing Kragon staring down at me.
I gulp, both my hands tightening on the swords I hold, because this is only what I have now.. My magic is nowhere to be found. I do not even know where to start. The Kragon advances toward me, thankfully she isn't flying, because if she did I will probably be drop dead by now.
With a loud scream as I feel her fierce heat radiating, I swing one of the swords and let it pierce right through her chest. Futile. I should have known as the sword starts to melt, its debris now in liquid form pours to the ground. Even though I know it's useless, I swing the second one and it lands on her forehead also piercing it. Like I said, it is useless. My second sword meets the same fate as its partner, and now I am left weaponless.
I have angered the Kragon, like really really angered it. That I can tell as she screams or shriek? I do not even know, but her mouth is open and then she lowers her head and spits her fire in circles, surrounding me. I am going to die. My back is still to the tree and really I do not know where to go.. Like I said, I am going to die or am I? Because as soon as the Kragon stretches its big fiery hands, I am suddenly shot up in the sky. Fucking hell! How the hell am I up here? I start to scream, my eyes widening like saucers as the Kragon also comes up to my level.. Of course she can fly, add that she now has a rider. My legs are dangling as I struggle to keep my floating balance.
"Well, well, well... How rude of you to think you can outrun me, Bellatrix Fallon" There is a sadistic grin on his face, as he dives the Kragon towards me. He is dressed in all black cloak and I can barely make out his face except for his eyes that looks like they are on fire, and his staff burning with the same intensity as his orbs just like the Kragon.
Recognition hits me as I realize I am standing or rather floating before the dark Fae King whose element is fire, I remember him from the first attack on L'agaib and just like now, he was riding on the Kragon as he saw to the ruins of my city. How very lucky for me to be caught in my act of escape.
It takes a while for me to notice that he is actually the one controlling my sudden flying.... Situation? Do I call it that.
Bad if you asked me, because this only means that I am at his mercy, but still one thing I would never do, is cower at the face of my enemy. And so I hold his gaze, a defiant frown gracing my face. "I did outrun you for some minutes tho, Lyon Starkev" I say in retort to his earlier statement.
Starkev chuckles as he maneuvers his Kragon, he seems to he controlling her now. I try not to let the fear I feel show on my face, as I hold his excruciating glower. "You are just like your Father, proud even at the face of death, well although I wont kill you yet"
His mention of my father does something to me and it is as if the burst of my anger calls out to my magic from within. I release my fists, willing myself to fly higher; and I do. I flex my fingers and something like a bolt of iced sand — iced sand? Well it zaps out of my forefinger hitting the Kragon straight in the eye.
She lets out a shrill scream. Ice slash sand with fire, well not very good friends are they? Starkev's smirk is replaced with a look of shock as his pet Kragon struggles to keep her stance. "You are not supposed to be able to do that!" He all but growls at me.
Fucking hell, this man is so freaking dumb. I mean if he actually wants to capture me again, too much of talking is certainly not the best way to go about it. Foolish dark Fae king.
Starkev finally brings his Kragon to balance again and his blazing orbs holds my gaze. "You are not supposed to have your magic back" he repeats.
"Well, you already said that the first time, Starkev" I shrug indifferently. "No qualms though, I have no idea how I have it back because you obviously took it away or locked it up.. But whatever it is you did.. It didn't last" I flex my fingers again, once more making a shot of my ice sand or well that's what I've decided to call it. It hits the Kragon's eyes once again, she screeches in obvious pain almost throwing off her rider.
A lopsided sneer at the tip of my lips. But wait, why is Starkev not using his magic? Suddenly he snaps his fingers and the Kragon wriggles out and well, dussapearing basically, leaving him now on a floating slash flying spree with me.
"Ooh.. It's getting too intense for your pet eh?" I bite out at him, earning a low almost inaudible snarl from him. If I have angered Starkev before, bow I have successfully added to his blinding which results in him swinging his staff at me. I barely miss the burning arrow he shoots at me as it whips past me. I can bet it took some strands out of my hair.
I flex my finger, this time pulling energy from the earth as I shoot my own arrow.. Iced sand arrow to be precise, it misses him entirely and then he does his staff swing again, another arrow shoots out, missing me, but barely as I struggle to keep my stance as well as duck his whimsical shots. He does it again, not even giving me space to take another breath. He shoots his fire shot and I let out a pained gasp as it grazes my shoulder, burning of my cloth and definitely some skin. That's all it takes for me to loose my balance, blood dropping from my shoulder as I land on the floor with a loud thud, the dry leaves making crunchy sounds as I struggle to sit up.
Fuck.
In no less than two seconds, Starkev is down with me. He towers over me in an intimidating stance, but I will be damned if I let it get 5o me. "Just a graze, and you are down.. How pathetic of you, Chosen one" he mocks, twirling his goddamned staff carelessly in his hands.
I grit my teeth and press my palm harder on the floor and then I will my energy out, Starkev is staring at me probably wondering what I am doing. It is now I am thankful to Vassily's lessons as I feel the earth start to freeze over and the tremor start to build up. This is me; freezing up the land on which I kneel and controlling an earthquake — because my element is ice and earth. The look on Starkev's face is priceless but that is the last thing I see, before the earthquake I brought blasts me into nothingness... And I am here again, in that freaking dark abyss.
