Bring a Lady
Ava slowly raised her head and realized he was no longer standing in front of her.
She blinked her eyes rapidly, gazing in his direction, but there were no traces of him.
'Maybe I was just imaging things then' she concluded in her mind and put forward a step to walk away.
“Hey, sexy” she looked up to see a drunk man, staggering toward her and smiling coquettishly.
Furrowing her brows and taking note of what to do immediately, she trotted in Zac's direction without looking back .
The route leads to the parking lot and just when Ava was reaching the place, she saw Zac gliding into a sleek and tiny Rolls-Royce.
Without a moment's hesitation, she strode very fast toward his car and swallowed subconsciously as she held the door handle and opened it.
'Gosh, am I doing the right thing?' she shut her eyes tightly as soon as she sat down in the passenger seat and the next moment, she noticed the car was moving.
Her eyes flung open at once and, truly, Zac was already driving out of the place.
Her eyes were wide with horror and shock, "Sir, where are we going, sir?" the nervousness and uncertainty in her tone at this moment couldn't be hidden.
As she spoke, she looked at the man beside her, bit by bit. However, this man showed no reaction to her word nor spare her a glance.
He just went on driving on the highway with a cold face all the time. His heart was ablaze, and he had no way of dousing the fire, this feeling made him feel extremely uncomfortable.
Twenty minutes later, Zac parked the car carelessly, got off the car, and directly turned around to open Ava's side door.
He trapped Ava's wrist, his hands were as strong as iron cuffs.
Ava gulped nervously, she was stuck between a rock and hard place, so there was no room for her to regret anything as she allowed herself to be led around like a soulless puppet.
Through the lobby to the elevator and going up, Zac unlocked the door to his penthouse apartment with a key card and then paced in with Ava's wrist clutched in his powerful hand.
The air in the room felt quiet and empty, just like the air before the violent storm.
"What are you doing, Tinkerbell?" his voice was bone-chilling cold, losing his tight grip on her wrist.
Instead of responding, Ava gazed down at her feet, her palms wet and sticky with sweat. She stayed silent, waiting for his next words.
Seeing that Ava wouldn't say a word to him, he then realized he had overreacted, burying his fingers into his hair he left where he was standing with heavy strides and turned around.
His expression was terrifying, and he couldn't help but curse himself inwardly. This was the exact reason he had attempted to stay away from Ava and now, his heart was affected, but he didn't even realize it.
He walked in a calm yet haphazard manner toward Ava, who had kept her head down this whole time, unable to place a finger on his actions.
"Snow White," he called tentatively as his eyes slowly changed from anger to calm.
Ava remained stationary, not liking to look at his face at this moment.
Zac reached out and stroked a wisp of her hair and tossed it behind an ear. Without leaving immediately, he stroked all the way along the outline of her ear and stopped at the earlobe.
His movement was as soft as a feather and this was having a great effect on Ava, she conjured some courage and looked over at his face.
His intense aggression overwhelmed her, and she couldn't help but turn her head, she didn't dare to directly look him in the eyes as his eyes were too alluring.
Zac's eyes were quite deep while his hot fingers went through the side of her neck, "Come, let's sit" he said gently as he took her hand and led her to a divan.
Ava followed him obediently, she was at a loss for words.
Zac sat down and prodded her to sit on his thighs. Ava held her breath, wanting to believe this was just a magnificent dream that would never come true.
Sitting on his thighs with a weird posture, a trace of smile appeared on his face as he stared at her, holding his chin up.
“I'll have someone to pick you up in front of your hostel tomorrow by 5 pm” his voice was low and deep as if each syllable were coming from deep in his chest.
In Gonzalez's corp earlier,
Blake Wright inhaled and exhaled a thousand times before he finally bent the doorknob and set his foot into his boss's spacious and unique office.
The wall behind the front desk had a gold background and was inlaid with bold and powerful words
'Gonzalez Group' looked magnificent and stood out to people's eyes like a dragon's nest, making people afraid to underestimate it.
Blake stood rooted in a spot, watching as Zac slowly leafed through the documents in his hand.
Zac looked at him briefly, and he quickly regained his composure and walked briskly to his rectangular desk.
After drawing a deep breath, Blake began, “Mr. Gonzalez, tomorrow is the annual Employee Appreciation Day”
Hearing this from his assistant, Zac took a glance at the calendar on his desk and soon recalled it was the first week of March.
"So?" he uttered when he noticed Blake wasn't saying anything again.
Meanwhile, Blake was pondering on how to broach the reason of the main reason for his notification.
"Mr. Gonzalez, I'm afraid you'll have to take a lady along with you this time"
Zac slightly raised his head and met his gaze.
Startled by the coldness in his eyes, Blake quickly lowered his gaze and continued in a slightly precarious voice, "I didn't mean to offend you, sir, the thing is I've been receiving countless emails from employees at various companies, nagging about the fact that you haven't brought a lady to the event before"
Zac understood what he meant within a second, he cracked a low rough grin and lifted his brows, "Okay. Is that all?" he asked in his usual cold voice.
Blake, who had noticed the speck of smile around his boss's face, was stunned when he realized the smile had disappeared almost immediately.
He gulped subconsciously, "Yes… sir" he gabbled, he didn't dare to tell his boss some went beyond by saying, 'The handsome billionaire might just be an impotent'
Zac gave his assistant a slight hum, staring at him intently as if he wanted to find out something from him.
"Alright then, you may leave"
Ava couldn't utter any sound when parting her lips, so she just swallowed the words back from the tip of her tongue.
Sensing her skepticism, Zac reached out his hand to squeeze her hand softly, causing her to shiver all over as if a torrent of electricity had pierced through her skin and spread to her legs and arms.
“You can tell me anything, Barbie” his voice was extremely low and the softness between his eyebrows had never appeared before.
Ava put her bottom lip inside her mouth and chuckled inwardly, he called her Barbie just now and the next moment, he would be calling her Cinderella.
“I don't know, sir…” “Zac,” he interrupted her firmly, “ Call me Zac”
Ava didn't react at the moment as she had lost the ability to think.
She slowly looked over at his face and their eyes met, and it felt like tiny gymnasts were dancing in her stomach, lowering her head.
” Where are we going?” she asked, there was no confidence in her voice whatsoever.
Zac extended his hand and caressed her palm, “From now, you should learn to trust me,” his face expressionless and hard to read as he continued to caress her slender palm.
The car screeched to a halt right in front of Ava's apartment, she sucked in a sharp breath and interlocked her fingers out of nervousness.
"Thank you, sir" she said softly.
Zac's gaze fell on her directly, his lips raised slightly, and he asked, "What did you say?"
Realizing her negligence, "Thanks, Zac" she corrected herself but was soon overwhelmed by an extraordinary uneasiness.
She didn't feel comfortable calling his name.
"Don't wear this kind of dress to a place like that again, Tinkerbell" he suddenly let out plainly.
His voice was neither too low nor high.
Ava nods directly, all she wanted at that moment was to get out of his car. His stares were too overbearing.
"Yes, Zac" she acknowledged, clenching her fingers tightly around her cell.
A touch of smile abruptly emerged on his graceful face, he liked the sound of his name in her mouth.
"Goodnight"
Ava exited the vehicle and exhaled loudly, watching the car roar away.
'What a man!' she shook her head helplessly and unlocked her phone.
Just as she had thought, she saw tons of messages from both Hazel and Freya.
She smiled, walking into the house, and texted them back that she was now at home and good.
