ONCE A GOOD GIRL

“I love you too, Caleb,” Freya found herself saying, her eyes locking with Caleb’s blue eyes intently.

However, Caleb’s face switched to awe upon hearing her admission. He took a step backward, his eyes and features reflecting just how he felt.

Although he knew Freya liked him probably just as a friend because he'd been trying his logical best to win her heart for a long time but she will always reject him simply because he was a nerd and not as hot as her spec.

“I know this is coming out of the blue and I can understand how you might be feeling right now,” Freya continued, her eyes never leaving his.

“But it’s the truth. I’ve always wanted to get my heart to stop beating for you when you’re literally out of my league but I can’t do so,” her voice cracked.

“I can’t get my own heart to love someone else,” she sniffed, tears rolling down her cheeks, “It wants you, Caleb,”

Bit by bit, Caleb’s lips puckered the corners of his mouth and eyes smiling but his face was donning an aloof expression.

“Then give it some more time, your heart will get attracted to your kind of man,” he said smoothly and then stepped away from Freya.

Freya was surprised with his sudden attitude and looked from the distance between them to his face.

“Why do you want my heart to get attracted to another man?” asked Freya, her brows furrowed while she wiped her face.

Caleb shrugged and crossed his hands at his back, “You just said it yourself, Freya. You don’t want me even when your beautiful heart is attracted to me,”

Freya’s eyes cleared in that moment as she realized that she had misused her words.

“I don’t have a choice here, Caleb. I’ll have to want who my heart wants,” her voice was not as soft anymore, meaning that she’s getting upset.

“No, Freya. I want this to be mutual. We’re both adults and we know what we want for ourselves. If your heart wants me while you don’t want me then there will be a problem. Don’t you think?”

Caleb finished his words with his brows lifted while their eyes locked for some time.

In the end, he turned around and planned to walk away when Freya’s voice suddenly stopped his movement.

“I want you, Caleb,”

Caleb was backing Freya so she couldn’t see the bright smile that had taken over his face.

“I want you the same way my heart want you and I hope we can work things out together,”

Caleb couldn’t wait to hear more from her as he had swiveled around back in front of her, slammed her into his chest with one hand and then took the other hand to frame her face and kissed her.

Freya didn’t hesitate a moment before she kissed him with all the feelings inside her. Her lips moved on his hungry, her body pressing closer to his.

Time stopped existing and every other thing went away with it. It was just them kissing each other so long and deep, into a mindless state of passion.

Ava Taylor stepped out of the bathroom, dripping wet. A white towel was wrapped around her chest while another one was tied around her water-soaked hair.

A glossy smile touched her face as soon as her eyes landed on the sleeping broad man on the bed.

Bit by bit the smile grew wider and she just shook her head admiringly before swirling around toward the closet to get her dress.

Taking out the plaid formal gray dress from the closet and closing it back, Ava’s smile halted a little and she found herself gulping.

The dress reminded her of the days she never missed any church services. She's this good girl that every parent in the church wishes their daughters too can be like Ava.

However, things have really altered since the moment she stumbled upon the good-bad boy.

At the thought of Zac, she tilted her head in his direction on the bed and saw that he was still sleeping so soundly like a newborn baby.

While staring at him from where she stood, the initial smile that left her face gradually returned.

Zac is a work of art and she was very attracted to him.

His hair was covering almost all parts of his face, only his sexy thin lips were visible to see. And the duvet wasn't nice as it was barely laying over his lower body part which alone sent shivers down her spine and her face flushing terribly.

Seeing his exposed breathtaking body was just bringing the last night's memories into Ava’s  head and she could instantly feel some fluid running out between her thighs.

Slowly, she shut her eyes, swallowed hardly and then spun around to start dressing up.

Heaven knows that it takes all her strength to control her craving her right now. But, if she had not brought herself under control again then she doubt if she would be able to make it to the company again today.

She was most definitely sure that Zac's attempts last night were to cripple her but she had refused to give in to the sore pains she was feeling down there.

Last night's sex was one of the wildest sex they would like ever have and even after the numerous rounds upon rounds, they couldn't get enough of each other.

It explained why the Almighty Zac has still not woken up yet.

In a matter of moments, Ava was done dressing up and with a movement as soft as a feather, she walked over to the bed and gently kissed  Zac’s cheek.

She smiled when Zachary only stirred but didn't open his eyes.

‘Indeed, he's very tired’ she thought.

She then covered his exposed body with the coverlet before grabbing her bag and then walked out of the room.

A sunny smile was still staying on Ava’s face as she walked down the hallway to the stairs, thinking in her mind that she will have to hurry with everything she has to do so that she can return back early.

However, the smile couldn't continue any longer the instant her eyes came in contact with the familiar big man standing below the staircases.

It was Reid. The way his face was coated with heavy frown lines indicated that he was not pleased to see Ava either.

He pocketed his hands, not moving, and continued staring up at Ava.

Deep down in his heart, he admired Ava's sterile beauty. In his eyes, he had never seen a lady with a lot of beauty like Ava, and most especially her curves.

Reid admitted that Ava is one lady with seven women beauties but that doesn't make him like her one bit for Ava is the reason his boss has become someone really different since they've known each other.

Ava on the hand too was now feeling sick in the pit of her stomach at this man’s sight. She snatched her gaze from Reid’s face and then began to descend the stairs carefully in regal steps.

She got down the last staircase and proceeded to walk away but Reid had barricaded her movement.

They stood there in silence for a moment, the tension palpable between them. His piercing gaze fixed on her, giving her lingering gaze in silence.

He then closed the distance between them until there was only a breath of air separating them.

“I won't stop until I make sure he chases you away,” he squeezed the words out through angrily gritted teeth.

Ava immediately stepped back from him after his words, holding her chest and looking frightened.  “Oh, no. I'm scared, Reid,”

“Please, I beg of you, don't try to separate me from Zac. I love him and I can't do without him,” her hands were pressed together as she pleaded tearfully.

Reid's brows crumpled and just as he was beginning to believe Ava’s plea, she burst into hysterical laughter as it dawned on her that Reid had fallen for her tricks.

Ava laughed for a long time and her eyes were beginning to water from how hard she was laughing.

“You fool,” she began again. The traces of laughter on her face just now had disappeared like it never existed in the first place.

She advanced a step forward, getting back to her previous position where their noses were almost touching.

“You can try your luck,” she gave a lopsided grin, “Try your chance to separate Zac and I,”

“But let me tell you one thing, Uncle Reid,” she raised her hand to his chest and then started brushing off his shirt repeatedly as if she were removing a speck of dust that only she could see.

“I’ll make sure I watch Zac ruin your face first before you get the slightest idea of how to separate us, I promise you,” Ava deadpanned.

Reid's eyes were now blazing with rage yet Ava’s eyes locked onto his with an unwavering intensity.

Soon, Ava brushed her shoulder against his as she walked past him, leaving him there to seethe all he wants alone.

“I'll be very glad to have you work here with us, Miss Taylor,”

The young man who looked around Zac’s age, an oval face, and golden yellow hair that matched his eyes pronounced softly.

A wide grin split Ava’s face in an instant as she gave a respectful bow.

“Thank you so much, sir. And I promise to do my best,” Ava told him.

The man leaned back in his seat and shook his head, a gentle smile swaying his face all the time.

“I'll be looking forward to that. Although most of the time as an intern there's not much work for you. But don't worry, as the manager of this great firm, I'll be here to always put you through. Do not hesitate to tell me whenever you are confused or anything,”

Ava’s smile even grew wider as she nodded her head vigorously. “Thank you once again, sir. I'll be on my way now,”

Ava has already gotten up as she spoke and the manager also stood up with her.

“So on Monday, right?” He asked.

“Of course, sir,” Ava replied, gaily.

With that, the gentleman offered his hand for a handshake, and Ava took it readily.

A few minutes later, Ava was in the lobby and was a bit surprised to meet a group of workers hanging around. Two to three people in a group of five or more, holding their phones and gossiping among themselves.

Ava would have thought that they were probably talking about business if they were not stealing glances at her.

From the look on their faces, she needed no one to tell her that they were all gossiping about her. But for what?

She had not even started working here and they were already talking about her.

Just then, a lady in a red mid-thigh dress and black suede heels suddenly approached her, looking enraged.

“What are you doing here when your man is Zachary Gonzalez?”

The lady threw the question at her without mincing words and Ava was certain that her heart stopped beating at that moment while her shoulders slumped in horror.

Oh, no. It never crossed her mind that someone would recognize her here.

Damn! Has she become a celebrity too now?

“”Answer me!” The lady barked. “You can always work under him, then why are you here?”

“To spy on us? To give out our plans and information to your man so that he can take away our big deal once again?”

“Flora,” a young dude in a black suit came to stand beside the lady, cutting her off.

He held her hand and pulled her away gently. Flora was reluctant at first but after shooting Ava a last glare, she followed the man.

And in no time, there was no person there with Ava again.

Her brows were pressed together in thought, trying to give meaning to what the lady had just said.

“Take away our big deal?” she repeated, her face crumpled up.
