HER MAN IS HERE
The tiny ray that penetrated through the lines of the drawn curtains hovered at Ava’s sleeping face and it seemed to arouse her. She stirred bit by bit while she slowly forced her eyes open.
Stretching and yawning softly, Ava slowly gathered herself to a sitting position when her eyes caught by her cellphone beside her.
A wide smile crept upon her face as she reached over and took the phone but the moment she tap the screen, the bright smile on her face faded immediately and replaced with anger.
Ava’s curled tightly around her cellphone and felt like she was strangling the person in her mind’s neck. “ZACHARY GONZALEZ” she gritted out, her hand grabbing her phone tightly.
Bang! Bang!
The loud thud that suddenly filled the air penetrated Ava’s tirade mind. “Come out here, Ava! I know you are home,” Ava’s eyes closed lazily and she remained like that until the bang came on the door again.
“Have you gone mad, Charlotte? What in the devil’s name is your problem?” Ava exploded with rage, her eyes shooting daggers at the door as if it were Charlotte standing there.
“You’re the mad girl here, Ava. Where have you been since all this while? Huh! Do you think that you’ll be able to convince me that you’ve been going to school?” Charlotte shouted back as she resumed banging the door as though she was not going to stop until Ava open it and come out.
“The last time I checked, Charlotte. Neither you nor your parents are paying my fees at school. So give me a break and get the fuck out of my doorstep,” Ava reacted, her anger solidifying her tone.
There was a silence at the other end and just when Ava was about to start thinking that perhaps Charlotte had walked away just like she’d commanded, Charlotte’s voice came through again.
“I’ll make sure I relate this to mom and dad. Stay tuned,” Charlotte stated baldly. Ava only scoffed in disdain and lay flat on the bed, listening to Charlotte’s retreating footsteps.
Hours later, Ava was lying on her chest on the bed and typing away on her PC when her cellphone buzzes. She grabbed it hesitantly and read the text on the screen.
In an instant, her eyes lit up while excitement washed over her system as she jumped out of the bed and dashed out of her bedroom for the first time since morning.
‘Her man is here,’
In a split of a second, Ava had gotten to the main entrance door but paused and took a deep breath before bending the doorknob and opened the door – revealing the only handsome man that existed in her world.
His body was wrapped in a well-tailored slim fit suit; his black hair was short on either side and full on top and his cheekbones that cut like ice and eyes like liquid scotch.
He looks good enough to eat and Ava couldn’t stop her stomach from churning and she had no idea that she has been biting her lips.
Zachary Gonzalez on the other hand thought that he was matured enough to admit to himself that he has become absolutely obsessed with this little woman standing before him.
He shouldn’t be thinking about her as much as he does. She is embedded in his soul – she should not be of living inside him for eternity, reacting to her, craving to be with her in any way and every day.
“I don’t like it when we fight, Tinkerbell,” The big man finally spoke up first, breaking the quietness and staring competition they had both engaged in since the moment Ava had opened the door.
Zac advanced a step forward and Ava took hers backward, giving him the access to step into room. “I’m sorry for not stopping you that night and made you leave angrily,” he apologized in his usual cool and calm tone whenever Ava is around.
Ava forced her lips to press together, hiding her smile and looking everywhere but the broad’s man handsome face. “Will you forgive me, sweetheart?” Zac pleaded, his eyes clouding with passion.
With a huge grin on Ava’s face, she went to him and wrapped her hands around his neck, “How can I stay mad at my man? Especially when he’d come here in person to apologize,” Zac’s lips upturned in a gentle smile as one of his hands raised and held Ava’s waist, “I have never because of a woman been so troubled before, Ava,” his tone carried a hint of sarcasm as if he was mocking himself.
If he were asked, he would say that he didn’t like himself this way but things had gone way out of his control.
He has it so bad for this woman. Ava grinned even wider and her wrinkles deepened as she smiled and thought within herself that, if only Zac had the slightest idea of how much she has come to love him so much. The thought of him practically lives with her every time even in her dreams.
Driven by an impulse, she lifted her head, stood on tiptoes, and kissed him without hesitation. It was fleeting, it felt like when a dragonfly flew by the water and touched it for a second.
Zac didn’t like that, so he pushed her into himself fully and was about to take her lips when Ava’s voice stopped his action halfway. “So what’s your conclusion, Jamal?”
Instantly, Zac knew what she was talking about and it really irritates him to know that she was still not willing to agree to his terms. “You really don’t want to work in any of my companies, do you?” he asked softly without looking at Ava’s face while his hand that was on her waist raised Ava’s shirt and slid across the skin on her waist.
Her skin was smooth and delicate as if a baby’s skin. Zac thought, if he just used a little more strength it would leave a mark on it. “I thought we’ve talked about this, Jamal,” Ava’s words came out tenderly, her eyes holding Zac’s brown orbs. “Please, baby,” she added, batting her eyelashes cutely and pouting her lips in a way she was most definitely sure that Zac would never say no.
A deep breath Zac had no idea he’d been holding released from his mouth while he kept staring back into the most beautiful amber eyes he’d ever seen who in turn kept giving him her puppy eyes.
“I don’t know what to do with you, Ava,” he was not getting angry, instead he wrapped his both hands around her waist and then angled in so close to her, “If that’s what you want, then it’s fine with me. I mean it has to, because it is you,”
Grinning and squealing excitedly, Ava spread kisses around his face and whispered, “Thank you, baby,”
“Anything for you, sweetheart,” Zac whispered back, a tiny smile tugging at the corners of his lips while they stared at each other and in the next moment, there was no gap between their lips as they were closely attached.
His tongue entangled with her tongue and stimulated the root of her tongue. Not too long after, this two people were lying on the bed.
Ava was lying on her chest, operating on her computer while Zac was lying on his back with his head resting against Ava’s ass.
Ava has been trying to submit her letter of application through the web but all the companies she had been coming across has been rejecting her letter which gives Zac so much joy but he didn’t let it show on his face.
“If this one also rejects it, then I won’t be left with no other choice than to come to your company, Zac,” Ava murmured under her breath in a sad tone having no idea of the huge smile that had appeared on her company’s lips since she couldn’t see his face.
“Ouch,” Zac put away his big smile and came to lay straight beside Ava on her small bed that barely occupied the both of them, “Or do you want me to speak to any of those companies for you?”
“No, Zac. You’re suggesting the exact thing I’m avoiding,” Ava spared him a glance and said with a small smile.
“But I want to know why they keep rejecting your letter? Or do they by chance know that you’re my woman?” Zac asked, looking all serious.
Ava would have blushed terribly at his last words if she was not feeling down at the moment. However, she sat upright all of a sudden and stared then into Zac’s eyes intently as if she wanted to find out something from him.
“What is it?” Zac asked. “You d-don’t have hands in this, right? You didn’t order those companies to reject my letter, am I right?” Zac let out a deep rumble of laughter for some time, shaking his head side by side as he laughs.
Watching him laugh wholeheartedly like this could only make Ava’s heart expand in her chest. He looked even more handsome when he smiles.
His laughter was like a beautiful melody to Ava’s ears and she completely forgot her heated mood just now while she allowed her heart to dance along with the rhythm of this man’s laughter.
“Okay,” Zac muttered after his laugh had quieted down. He puckered his lips and shook his head, “You know, I’m damn glad you are very much aware of what I’m capable of, Ava. But trust me; I have no hands in this,”
Ava saw no reason for him to lie about that. Someone like him can never lie – you either accept it or you leave it.
She nodded her head and wanted to say something when a notification from her laptop chimed in. Ava read the notification and soon discovered that it was an approval from the last company she’d submitted her letter to.
“Eventually!” she screamed out in excitement and jumped out of her bed. “At last! Oh, thank goodness,”
By now, Zac had sat up on the bed with a deep frown on his graceful face as he watches his woman dances around the room with sheer happiness.
He averted his attention to the computer and then clicked on the info on it and his frown even grew deeper. “This is a nameless company, Ava. Why would you want to work with them?” He moved his eyes from the monitor and took them to the dancing Ava who stopped immediately Zac’s voice cut through the air.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s a new or inexperienced organization, Zac. All that matters is that I get my few months internship done. That’s all,” Zac looked as though he was not going to buy Ava’s words but just as he unlocked his jaw to protest, a loud thud on the door shut him up.
“Come out here now, Ava,” Charlotte’s authoritative voice wafted into the room and Ava couldn’t stop her eyes from rolling while Zac’s full brows crumbled up.
“Is that your sister?” Zac asked naturally and was shocked when Ava quickly slammed her hand in his mouth.
“Please be quiet. I’ll be right back,” she whispered to his face and only took her hand away after Zac had nodded in agreement.
Then, she walked up to the door and opened it narrowly while she held the doorknob tightly and made sure her body was blocking Charlotte's view from peeking inside.
“What do you want, Charlotte?” she asked snidely. “I need you to give me some cash,”
Charlotte responded without any feeling of shamefulness, “After all you are shagging a billionaire like Zachary Gonzalez. So you should have a lot of cool cash at hand,”
Ava had a lot to blurt to her sister at that moment. In fact, she had the urge to slap her face and then her out directly.
But Zac was here and she would only respect his presence and give Charlotte the cash so that she can let her be at peace.
