Chapter 10 - The Wedding Party.

The loud applause made Amelia and Xavier draw away from each other.

They were both looked at one another with surprise. They did not expect the kiss to bring back so much memories of their first night together.

Nor were they expecting it to bring back so many memories.

Their little crowd cheered for them.

"Smile." Xavier whispered in her ear as he grabbed a hold of her waist as they both walked down the aisle.

Amelia forced a nervous smile upon her face as they were congratulated by family and friends.

Amelia's mother Amber was bawling her eyes out in the most fashionable way possible and Amelia resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

Amelia walked up to her mother.

"Keep it down mother! It's not my funeral!"

She whispered to her as she briefly hugged her.

"I know it's not. But I'm so happy right now. All my friends never thought my daughter will snag a billionaire! That's exactly why I invited Chloe Montgomery."

Her mother suddenly started smiling as she glared at Chloe Montgomery who was also glaring back at them.

"Mother! Are you seriously thinking about that right now?"

Amelia asked in concern and her mother shrugged.

"Sweetie, just go back to your husband okay? Just know you've made your father and I very proud. Griffin sends his regards."

Her mother said as she gently pushed her back towards Xavier.

Xavier was beaming like he just hit the jackpot, although Amelia was positive that it was all a show.

"Come, let me introduce you to my family."

He said quietly as he led her to a small group of people who were talking to Nana.

Nana had got a pass from her doctor and she was able to make it.
She was wearing a lovely pink suit and a pretty petite woman who was her nurse accompanied her.

"Ohh! There's the bride and the groom. Amelia you look so beautiful!" Nana exclaimed as she enveloped Grandmother in a warm hug.

"I am so happy you could make it. It's a pleasure to have you here."

Amelia said and Xavier introduced her to the rest of his family.

She met Sylvia Black who was his father's younger sister and Nana's only daughter, making her Xavier's aunt.

And then she met his mother's sister Lucy Greene and her husband and their three little children.

His mother's brother was said to be absent. Although they were all courteous and polite, Amelia could see the lingering questions that they failed to ask about her.

There was a lot that she didn't know about them and they didn't know about her either, they must be confused about where she came from.

After making the rounds and greeting almost all the guests, the reception was moved to a cabin just a few feet from where the wedding had taken place.

Amelia changed up her dressing a little bit with a little help from her wedding stylist. Her veil was removed and her hair was switched to another style.

The curls were left to cascade down her back and they looked beautiful. She felt much more freer in the fitted column gown and switched her glass heels to jeweled slippers.

After she was all done and ready, she and Xavier both walked together into the reception.
Xavier struggled hard to keep his eyes away from the stunning beauty that was now his legal wife.

He had been stunned the minute he saw her and he had been even more stunned when he remembered the feel of her soft lips on him.
He tried hard to convince himself that he wasn't marrying her for love or anything else.

He was only marrying her because of he was trying to fulfill his ailing grandmother's wish.

To see him happy and married with kids of his own.

She knew he didn't really get along well with the rest of the entire family, she was worried about him being too lonely when she was finally gone.

At the reception, there was a band and a DJ and there were caterers going around serving champagne.

Amelia's friends, Molly and Ruby were happily coordinating the event. Amelia felt a little bit relieved as their presence made her feel a little bit better.

"Here" Molly said as she passed the brooding bride a glass of champagne.

"Thanks!" Amelia murmured as she drank it all in one gulp.

"Woahhh! Slow down baby girl."

Ruby warned and Amelia shrugged.

"I don't care. It's my wedding day, I might as well get drunk since I just got married to some stranger."

"Ugh! Stop exaggerating! And besides, he being a billionaire makes up for all the bad parts."

Amelia shrugged.

"Yea let's forget the part where I'm literally being forced to marry him because of my money grubbing parents."

Molly rolled her eyes.

"Relax will you! You're taking all this too serious. Just enjoy today! It's your wedding day!"

Amelia started nodding her head.

"Yes! I guess you're right."

She said as she prepared to start walking towards the high table where Xavier was seated.

She spotted another waiter with a tray full of champagne in pretty flute glasses and Amelia stopped and picked two more glasses.

"Keep them coming waiter." She said to him as she walked back to the high table.

As she sat down in her seat next to Xavier who was glued to his phone, he looked up at her and spotted his wife drinking a glass of champagne.

"You better take it easy with the alcohol. It's still way too early."

He warned and Amelia shrugged.

"I'll do whatever the hell I want thank you. I need to be roaringly drunk to stomach all this."

"Have you forgotten that we're married now? You have to do what I say!"

Xavier threatened and Amelia shrugged.

"This isn't the Victorian age. Just because I unfortunately happen to be married to you doesn't mean I have to do as you say."

She said and Xavier narrowed his eyes at her.

He watched her with growing anger, he couldn't believe that she was the same woman he had kissed barely an hour ago.

Was it the sudden realisation that their union was permanent that had dawned on her?

Xavier asked himself as he slowly looked away.

The wedding party went by in a drawl to Amelia. All she remembered was drinking copious amounts of champagne and wine she had while everything and everyone else around her went by in a blur.

The only things she could remember were things she had done when she was slightly tipsy. Like the first dance she had with Xavier and her father's speech that Amelia was unfortunately too focused on the shrimp scampi to hear correctly.

Xavier on the other hand was seething, anytime a waiter brought more champagne as requested for Amelia he would frown heavily and beg her to stop drinking but Amelia didn't listen.

Later when the DJ changed the music to one of her favourite songs, she stood up from her table excitedly.

"Ohh! This is my jam!" She thought as she walked to the dancefloor.

She wasn't even halfway across to the dancefloor when a firm but gentle hand dragged her away from the dancefloor.

"That's it! I've had enough of you."

He whispered as he dragged her far away from the watchful eyes of their concerned guests.

"What? I just want to dance!" Amelia said as she pouted like a child.

"Do you have a drinking problem? I should have stopped you after the first few drinks. What the hell is wrong with you?"

Xavier chastised her and Amelia shrugged.

"Does this make you want to divorce me? Because that is the aim."

Amelia said as  she smiled slyly at Xavier.

"You're unbelievable! Really! We're going home now. I'm going to have to make up a lie about how you're indisposed."

Xavier murmured as he signaled one of his bodyguards who were at the party.

"Take her to the car. She's not feeling too well, I'm going to go say our goodbyes."

"Alright Sir."

The bodyguard said as he grabbed a very drunk Amelia gently.

They arrived at Xavier's penthouse a few hours later.

Amelia was already fast asleep and Xavier had to carry her bridal style into the building.

He had contemplated waking her up but he didn't want to wake up and feel even more irritated at him.

A sleeping Amelia was much more better than a conscious Amelia, he decided as he took her to his bedroom.

She looked so peaceful and beautiful while she slept that it was hard to believe she was the same woman who had been at their wedding drinking too much alcohol and dancing to cheesy romance songs.

As he gently laid her on his California King sized bed, she stirred a little and looked up at him.

Her rich violet eyes were beautiful in the dim light and Xavier couldn't help staring at them.

He was about to leave when she pulled him closer.

"Don't go!" She whispered as she pulled him close, her lips were dangerously close to his, so much that the smell of alcohol was heavy in her breath.

Xavier gawked at her as she slowly licked her lips, the invitation was clear and glaring.

And it was their wedding night after all.
