Chapter 11 - Newlyweds.

Xavier slowly pulled away from Amelia.

"Not like this. Not this way. Get some rest."

He quietly said as he left her in the big giant bed all alone.

She was going to have a terrible hangover the morning after and it was going to make things much more worse that it already was, Xavier thought as he walked towards the bar and poured himself a cognac.

He loosened his tie and he settled down at the bar drinking alone.

Married.

The word felt strange to him, but the slim golden wedding band in his third finger said it all. Xavier Carlton Jnr Black was a married man.

And he was married to a woman that wanted nothing to do with him. A woman who was unwilling to marry him. Not that he was complaining, he wasn't too keen on marrying her either.

If only Daphne had accepted his proposal, maybe he would have felt happier and better about finally being married.

But she had rejected him, just like Amelia was also rejecting him.

He thought as he took a little sip of his drink.

The things he had to do for love, he thought as he saw how happy his Nana was that he was getting married.

At least he did one thing right.

He thought as he dropped his glass and decided to retire for bed.
He was going to be sleeping in the guest room, he wanted Amelia to be as comfortable as she could be.

It was already late also and he had an early appointment in the morning.

Slowly and reluctantly, Amelia uncovered her face. She blinked,  closed her eyes, and blinked again. Streaks of sunlight penetrated the window and blinded her.

She sat up, suddenly aware of the dull pain in her head.

"Owww" she said gently as she slowly swung her legs out of the large bed.
She was still in her wedding gown from the day before and her jeweled slippers. Even her hair and makeup was in place.

Amelia studied her surroundings, annoyingly removing the tiara on her head and loosening the tiny pins holding half of her hair up in place.

She was in Xavier's room most likely, she decided as she studied the dark furniture and the abstract colours.

Slowly, Amelia walked out of the room to explore the house with the dull pain of her hangover eating into her brain.

She had had too much to drink, she remembered with embarrassment. She didn't remember much of what happened, but she knew that it was very possible that she had made a complete fool out of herself and Xavier.

Amelia found it very hard to act properly whenever she was drunk.
She wished she avoided drinking as much as she could but she always did the exact opposite. Drinking too much alcohol.

In the large penthouse with the sophisticated design, Amelia slowly made her way to the kitchen, she was going to need a cup of coffee if she wanted something to help with the hangover, she thought as she walked into the kitchen.

To her utmost surprise, there was a petite woman with grey hair standing next to the coffee maker.

She turned to Amelia and gave her a welcoming smile.

"Welcome Mrs Black. I'm Leticia the housekeeper. I'm making some tea, would you like some or coffee?"

She asked politely and Amelia nodded, although she was already thrown off guard by the way the woman had addressed her.

It suddenly dawned on Amelia that being married meant she would have to start using Xavier's last name.
Mrs Amelia Black. Amelia quietly said to herself.

"Where's Xavier?" She asked nervously as she looked around.

She expected him to be very angry with whatever problems she gave him at the party.

"He has an appointment, so he left very early. What would you like to eat?"

The woman asked softly and Amelia shrugged.

"I don't know, I just need something for this terrible terrible headache!"

She complained as she touched her forehead slightly.

"Mr Black informed me. I'll make you some ginger tea instead. Why don't you go ahead and change, I'm sure you must be tired."

Amelia nodded.

"Yes, sure. I am tired. Thank you."

She said as she walked back into the room, still dazed and tired.

Her stuff had been neatly packed into the walk in closet and Amelia vaguely remembered that she had dropped her stuff at Xavier's a day or two before the wedding.

She walked into the adjoining bathroom as she slipped out of her wedding dress. The pretty white lace underwear and garter she had been wearing underneath was all a big waste of clothing since nothing happened between her and Xavier, she thought as she flung each item away from her and prepared her bath.

After soaking for nearly an hour and dozing more than half of the time, Amelia hurriedly dressed up and walked back to the living room with padded slippers and a fluffy bathrobe.

She was eagerly met by Mrs Leticia who served her with ginger tea.

"Mr Black would be having breakfast with you, would you like to wait or start eating without him?"

The woman asked politely and Amelia frowned.

"Mrs Leticia, I thought you said he had a early appointment?"

She asked and the woman nodded.

"Yes, he does. But he'll be back in time to spend the rest of the day with you. It is your honeymoon after all."

The woman said with a kind smile and Amelia forced a smile.

She had thought she was going to have the whole day to herself, she thought as she frowned slightly. Naturally, she thought Xavier was one of those men who were too busy to take time off work to spend time with their family or partners.

What was she going to say or do to him?

She asked herself with her cheeks burning with embarrassment.

She knew that she most have made a mockery of Xavier and herself during their wedding reception and she was going to be hearing a lot from her parents and Xavier about her unruly behaviour.

"I'd like to eat now please. I'm actually very hungry."

Amelia asked with a smile. Mrs Leticia made no comment as she went back into the kitchen.

A few seconds later, breakfast was served. There was Belgium waffles served with fresh strawberries and blueberries with a side of maple syrup and butter.

Also with bacon and sliced sausages and Greek yogurt topped with fresh fruits.

Amelia didn't need any invitation to dig in as she started. She always found out that she had a ravenous appetite the day after she had drank too much, she never could explain it.

She was halfway done with breakfast when the main door click open.

Amelia looked at the door wondering if it was Xavier back so early from wherever he had been to.

It was Xavier, he looked dashing in an impeccable dark blue Armani suit and he looked quite surprised to see Amelia seated casually having breakfast.

They both stared at each other for a long time, the dynamics of their relationship also made it difficult for them to address themselves properly as they both continued to look at each other.

Am I supposed to call him Xavier or some sweet endearing term? Amelia asked herself as she cocked her head to the side.

Mrs Leticia broke the silence.

"Welcome Mr Black. Would you like to have breakfast now?"

She asked and Xavier nodded.

"Yes, I would love to Mrs Leticia. It'll give me time to chat with my lovely little wife."

He said menacingly as he took off his jacket and dropped it on the couch.

"You..."

He said in an accusing tone as he sat across Amelia.

She looked so much different than before but nonetheless beautiful. Her face was scrubbed clean and it glowed with good health and youthfulness and her hair cascaded down her back in waves.

She was wearing a light pink fluffy robe and slippers, which gave the impression that she was fresh out of a bath.

"Hello husband!"

Amelia said cheerfully as she went back to her food mindlessly digging into her third waffle.

"Your attitude yesterday, was completely destructive and extremely childish!"

Amelia rolled her eyes.

"I was only a little bit tipsy. Don't exaggerate Xavier."

Xavier's eyes widened.
Exaggerate? He was far from exaggerating, Amelia's drunken state was observed by all at the party and several people had called him later on to ask about her wellbeing.

"Exaggerate?!!! You were drunk! At our wedding reception! It was completely embarrassing."

"Okay, maybe I was a little drunk. I'm sorry. You can't blame me for going a little too hard on the booze. I mean, how would you feel if you were in my shoes?"

Xavier rolled his eyes.

"Your shoes? I'll be grateful for the opportunity that I've been given to save my family from bankruptcy and I won't humiliate myself at my wedding. Yes! That's what I would have done."

Amelia knew Xavier was right but she didn't want to admit it, especially to him.

"Can you stop talking about that right now? I have a terrible headache and the sound of your voice right now is super annoying."

Amelia begged as she looked away from the searching blue eyes of Xavier.

"Okay then. Pack a few bags when you're done eating. My Nana insists we go for a proper honeymoon."

The sound of Amelia's fork dropping from her hand made a large clanking sound on the chinaware.

She raised her eyebrows at Xavier and he seemed to be enjoying her distress.

"What's the matter? You think you were really going to escape our wedding night?"

Xavier said with a cruel smirk as he studied Amelia's stunned face, he seemed to be enjoying her reaction immensely.

"Get ready Amelia. It's happening a lot sooner than you think."

Xavier said, his voice low and husky and seductively inviting.
