Chapter 21 - Together.
"Daphne? What in the world are you doing here?"
Amelia asked as she walked into the living room and approached Xavier.
Daphne quickly plastered on a fake smile as she moved away from Xavier.
"Wow! You're back. So good to see you. Xavier and I were just talking..."
Amelia snorted.
"Yea, you don't need to lie. I saw when you were trying to kiss him."
Amelia said as she stood next to Xavier. Xavier looked a bit relieved that Amelia had not fallen for Daphne's tricks. He was still confused and a little bit irritated at her for forcing herself on him.
"Daphne, can you leave now? I think I've made it quite clear what I want."
Daphne frowned a bit before masking it with a pained smile.
"Yea, it's okay. I'll see you another time."
"Yea sure."
"Don't forget the doctor's appointment later this week."
Daphne reminded as she picked up her purse looking back at Xavier and Amelia with a sour expression on her face.
"He won't forget. I'll make sure of it since I'll be tagging along."
Amelia said and Daphne paused.
"What?"
She asked as she slowly turned and Amelia shrugged as if she had said nothing wrong. She glanced at Xavier and he didn't look too bothered about her statement either.
"What's the problem? Can't I tag along?"
"No! You can't! It's strictly Xavier and I!!"
Amelia waved Daphne's statement away as she rolled her eyes.
"I'll be in the waiting room! Trust me, you won't even notice me"
"Xavier???"
Daphne panicked as she turned to Amelia with a questioning look in her eyes.
Xavier only shrugged as he put his hands in his pockets.
"What? If you want me there, sure you shouldn't mind Amelia tagging along."
"But.. But..."
She stammered and then groaned in frustration before storming out of the room.
Amelia watched her and laughed at her retreating figure until she left their house.
Xavier turned and hugged her unexpectedly, he had never been so happy to see her. She looked different, there was something about her that was different but he couldn't quite place it.
But the noticeable difference was that her hair was shorter. Much shorter, it was no more waist length, it was shoulder length and it looked amazing on her. Her hair was wavy and her haircut was blunt.
She was dressed in a form fitting yellow dress and her feet were clad in her favourite ankle boots.
She looked amazing and Xavier didn't know how much he missed her scent until he breathed her in.
"I missed you so much."
"Me too!!!"
"And your hair!!! Amelia! It looks great!"
Xavier exclaimed as he lifted a few strands of the glossy black hair.
"I know! I got it done today when my flight was delayed! Isn't it fabulous?"
"It is. I really like it."
Amelia sighed as she threw her head back relieved.
"Oh thank God! I was afraid you wouldn't like it."
"God I missed you!"
Xavier said as he hugged her again while Amelia blushed furiously.
They broke apart and Amelia pulled Xavier into a seat. Xavier made Amelia to seat on his lap and she settled in his chest comfortably.
"What was Daphne doing here? I heard part of the conversation while I was trying to let myself in."
Xavier rolled his eyes.
"I don't even know how she got in
We're going to have to tell Millie to stop letting her in."
"What did she want?"
Amelia asked as she looked up from Xavier's chest as she played with his shirt and Xavier shrugged.
"She wanted to apologise. And confess her feelings. I don't know why she even bothered, I told her to never come here again."
Amelia sighed.
"Well, obviously she didn't take you seriously. I heard when she was talking."
"Ahhhh! I see."
"What?
Amelia raised her eyebrows.
"Well, no wonder you didn't lash out on me or anything. When I saw you, I thought you'd misinterpret the whole situation."
"Oh! Well, I know better now. I've already seen through Daphne and I know you very well."
"Well, I'm just happy you're back home. I've been miserable without you."
"And you posting pictures of your holiday in Ibiza in those hot bikini pictures didn't help."
Xavier added and Amelia chuckled. He sounded a bit hurt. Amelia rubbed his chest eagerly.
"I'm sorry. But I was so angry and disappointed in you. I needed a break."
Xavier nodded.
"Yes, I know you did. I was also scared it was going to be like the last time you went to New York. Don't ever do that to me again."
Xavier warned and Amelia laughed as he rubbed her cheeks.
"What changed your mind though?"
He asked as he raised her chin, making her violet blue eyes gaze into his.
Amelia never forgot how handsome Xavier was, even if she was blindfolded, she knew his face so well that she would be able to trace out every feature in his face.
"What made you come back Amelia? I know it's not all the begging because you definitely didn't listen to that."
Xavier said and they both laughed. After their laughter died down, Amelia took Xavier's hands and laid it on her belly. At first, he didn't really notice the gesture, until he saw how serious Amelia looked.
But even with that, he still couldn't understand what she meant.
"I'm pregnant Xavier."
She whispered slowly and Xavier froze.
"We're having a little mini me or you! And when I found out, I just wants to be with you."
She said as she touched his cheeks lovingly. It was the truth, when she had learnt that she was pregnant, she was itching to tell Xavier, but she wanted to do it in person so she had to wait.
Because she wanted to capture the moment forever in her heart.
"Amelia..."
Xavier called out in a low tortured voice as he placed his two hands in her belly and looked down at it with disbelief.
"Are you serious right now? Don't play with me."
"I have the test results. they're all positive! I'm really serious!!!"
Amelia exclaimed and Xavier hugged her tightly, shocking her and himself.
He clung to her tightly a few seconds before slowly breaking away.
"Okay! I don't want to hurt the baby I think I've been hugging you a little too tightly."
He said as he released her and Amelia laughed. He was smiling so hard she could see the laugh lines on his face. He looked so happy she started crying. She knew he was going to be happy about it, but she had not expected the pure excitement on his face.
"Amelia! This is great news! We're having a baby!!!!"
"I know right! Can you imagine me as a mom?"
Amelia asked and Xavier shook his head as he held her hand in his.
"Oh come on! Believe me, you'll be a great mom!"
"Are you saying that just to make me feel better?
Amelia asked as Xavier kissed her fingers.
"No, I'm not. I'm serious. I know you've not always been too eager about it but I've seen you with kids and you always make sure you go out of your way to make them happy."
"Awwwn! Xavier!"
Amelia leaned in for a kiss and Xavier pulled her closer to him. Their tongues entwined and for the next few seconds they were caught up in their own world. Amelia could feel sparks in her belly as she held Xavier close. She had missed him so much.
She had missed how safe she felt in his arms, how comforting his presence was even though it could be intimidating for a lot of people. She had also missed how much his touch used to make her feel. It always sent her on fire.
"Baby! I don't think I've been so happy."
Amelia said as she smiled at Xavier.
"Of course I know this is your second child, but I'm still very much excited for our baby and I know we'll work something out."
Xavier shook his head.
"What's there to work out?"
Amelia shrugged.
"Well, the whole Daphne stuff. She's having a baby too remember?"
"Oh Amelia! We talked about this. It doesn't change anything. And it still won't change anything."
"You and I, we're together and were in this together. All I want right now, is for you to be fine and a very healthy baby."
Amelia nodded.
"I guess you're right. We should be more focused more on our baby. What do you think we're having?"
Xavier shrugged.
"A mini Amelia would be nice although I can guarantee she'd be twice the trouble you are."
Xavier said and Amelia laughed.
"Oh of course! If I'm going to be having a daughter, she has to look like me. Xavier, we have so much to do!!! So much to plan for!"
Amelia exclaimed as she massaged her temple.
There was the hospital appointments, classes, nursery and so many other things to think of. There was the topic of whether or not she would try breastfeeding, would she be going for a natural birth or an epidural and finally deciding if she would put her project on hold for the baby.
"I know! I can't wait. Come, let's go check out which room will be perfect for the nursery."
Xavier gently dragged Amelia to her feet as he led her down the hallway both of them giddy with happiness.
Millie took a walk out of the house for some privacy. She walked towards the pool side, it was mostly abandoned during the day, especially with Amelia not being around. But she was sure that since the lady of the house was around, she would make good use of the pool.
She smoothed her hair as she wondered if she had to report back Xavier and Amelia conversation to Daphne. The both of them had looked so happy that she felt a jab of pain when she remembered all that she had done against the two of them.
After the leaked story in the news that made Amelia leave, Millie started reconsidering her actions when she saw how sad and withdrawn Xavier had been. She had always felt like he was better with Daphne, because she never liked the boldness and vivacity that Amelia had, something about Amelia reminded her of her younger sister she had a falling out with years ago.
They had not talked ever since then and Millie was still very much hurt by her actions. Seeing how close in character Amelia and her sister were had made her angry and hurt, so much that she didn't mind doing anything for Daphne just to see her hurt.
She didn't know what Daphne would do with the information if she told her but she knew it wouldn't be good. But she also needed the extra money.
She walked around the large pool while she placed a call through Daphne.
"Hello?"
She called out nervously as her eyes scanned the pool area again.
"Are they talking. Did they reconcile with each other?"
Daphne barked into the phone and Millie was startled for a a few seconds.
"No, quite the contrary. They're doing very well."
"Ugh! So annoying! Why are you calling me then? Are they planning something?"
"I... I have some news...."
"Well.... Spill it!"
Daphne urged and Millie swallowed hard as she rubbed her sweaty palm on her immaculately white pants.
"It's Amelia. She's pregnant."
After Millie dropped the bombshell, there was along pause in the line. It was so long that Millie thought Daphne had hung up on her.
"Are you still there....?"
Millie stammered and Daphne cleared her throat.
"I need to see you tomorrow Millie. It's very important."
Daphne said calmly and Millie nodded.
"Sure! I'll see you tomorrow then."
