Chapter 12 - Nosy Parents.

Their morning was as beautiful as the night they had, Amelia had woken up next to Xavier and a hearty breakfast.
She remembered everything, from their night of passion to how they both fell into a deep slumber. Room service had woken Amelia up much later and Xavier had suggested they spend their day alone at the hotel.

They had cleared their plans for the day and they didn't mind staying in doing nothing.

"Do you think about the future sometimes?"

Xavier asked and Amelia nodded as she popped a strawberry into her mouth.  She was still sprawled on the covers with nothing but the sheets to cover her nakedness. Xavier was lying next to her too, they were both staring at the ceiling.

"Yes, I do."

"What do you see?"

"Well, I see you and I... and I also see Daphne and her child, meddling as always."

Truth was Amelia was largely uncertain about the future, she was unsure of what was going to happen. With Daphne in the mix she believed a lot of things about them was going to be uncertain.

Knowing Xavier, he would want to be in the baby's life and Daphne would exploit the opportunity for her own selfish reasons.

"I don't think she'll meddle or anything. We'll put her in her place."

Amelia scoffed.

"It's bad enough she's going to be a constant fixture in our lives. Even if we put her in our place, I don't think she'll leave us alone."

There was a long silence and Amelia glanced at Xavier and saw that he was deep in thoughts.

"Is it such a bad thing that she's having my baby? I mean I've always wanted kids and you know that."

Amelia's jaw dropped.

"Such a bad thing? Are you stupid? I'm not worried about you having a baby! I'm worried with you having a baby with her!"

Amelia stressed as she sat upright, pulling the sheets around her and glaring at Xavier.

Xavier's sudden interest in Daphne after all she had done to him was astounding. He owed no loyalty to her after he was drugged and raped by her. And she believed that he shouldn't be so excited to be having a baby with someone like her.

"What's the problem Amelia? We already said we were going to handle this."

"Yes! We did. The problem is, you're not handling this. You're only going along with it. And it's fucking annoying."

Xavier looked lost and tired.

"What do you want me to do? What Amelia?"

"For one thing, stop acting like everything is normal! Everything is not normal! She raped and drugged you and you think she should get away with it because she's having your baby. Do you have feelings for her or what?"

"I am no pushover. I will fight for whats mine till my last breath. And I'm not going to let her just come and take what belongs to me."

"Amelia please calm down..."

"No, I will calm down when you start seeing things right. That woman is manipulative. She raped and drugged you, now she's having your baby and she still feels entitled because you coddle her."

"I do not coddle her."

"Oh yeah? Then why is she still in our house?"

Amelia asked and Xavier went quiet. So far, Daphne had rejected all apartment offers that Xavier had came up with. Amelia knew she was using it to buy time to stay at their place and it was sickening that Xavier had not realised it yet.

"She needs time. She's pregnant and she's going through a lot. Please just take it easy on her. I promise I'll get her out of her place by the end of next week."

"That's what you said before."

Amelia said in a resigned voice as she stood up from the bed and pulled the sheets along with her.

"I mean it this time!"

Xavier shouted as she walked into the bathroom and slammed the door.

"Well, would you at least talk to me?"

Xavier asked as Amelia looked out the window. They had spent the rest of the day at the hotel and after a long time Xavier decided they should leave when he couldn't take anymore of Amelia's sulking. After their little disagreement in the morning, she became withdrawn and only talked to him when she needed to.

The words she said to him made him reflect a lot about what was happening and Xavier was determined to do what was right. Amelia was right to an extent, the fact that Daphne was pregnant with his baby had made him receptive to her wiles. He shouldn't have allowed her to even suggest staying at their place. That was where he had crossed the boundary and Amelia was determined not to let go of that single fact.

He had called a few realtors he knew and he had found a few apartments he was going to show to Daphne. He didn't care if she liked it or not, Xavier was determined to make sure she left their home before the end of the week.

"I am talking to you."

"I mean you should stop giving me the cold shoulder..."

Xavier trailed off as Amelia turned to him with a sour expression on her face.

"Well, that depends on your line of action when we get home."

They both became silent in the car again and Xavier turned up the volume of the radio to drown the uncomfortable silence. Amelia focused on looking outside her window and counting trees. She was busy trying to keep a clear head when her phone rang.

It was her mother.

Weird. She thought as she picked the call.

"Mum? What's up?"

She asked startled as her mother squealed into the phone.

"Guess who's in San Mateo honey!!!"

"Mum??!!! What are you saying?"

Amelia asked startled as she looked at the Caller ID.

"Well, I'm saying your father and I just left the airport. We're on our way to your house. We rented a nice Benz. Where are you sweetie?"

Amelia massaged her temple. What mess was this? She asked herself as she glanced at Xavier who looked confused. He couldn't hear their conversation yet.

"Where am I? How about not dropping in on me unannounced?"

"Sweetie! What do you mean? We talked about this last week remember?"

Amelia knew they discussed it, but she would have appreciated it if her mother gave her a little heads up next time. She tried to remember if she had given her mother her address and she squirmed when she remembered that she did.

"I know! I know! I just hope next time you'll tell me."

"Awwwn!!! It's a surprise! That's why we didn't tell you."

"Okay, well, we'll be expecting you."

Amelia said as she ended the call abruptly and turned to Xavier.

"My parents are coming. If my guess is correct they are about one hour away from our place. How long is it till we reach San Mateo?"

Amelia asked and Xavier shrugged.

"In about thirty minutes tops. Also depends on traffic. Why didn't they tell us?"

Amelia shrugged

"They wanted it to be a surprise. but right now it's more of a shock. What are we going to do?"

Amelia asked Xavier who looked even more worried. Amelia had not explained to her parents about the whole Daphne getting pregnant issue and she was sure her parents were going to blow up when they heard it.

"Why don't you park and call Daphne. Tell her to leave the house for a couple if days."

Amelia suggested and Xavier gave her a look.

"Or we just tell your parents?"

"Really?"

"You want to tell my parents that you're having a baby with another woman? They'll cry murder so loud the press would be talking about it for weeks."

Amelia said as she scoffed. That was how dramatic her parents could be. They would find a way to 'mistakenly' leak the story. And even if they didn't, Amelia didn't think she was ready to explain to them how Xavier was drugged and raped by Daphne.

"So what do we do? They're going to find out some how."

Xavier snapped out of frustration and Amelia shrugged as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Well, not now. We'll cook up a story later. Just call Daphne and tell her to leave home."

Xavier complied as he parked the car next to a restaurant and he started trying Daphne's number while Amelia called her parents to ask where they were already.

"She's not picking up..."

Xavier called out as he turned to Amelia.

Amelia cocked her head deep in thoughts.

"Well, I don't know what we'll do now
Maybe she isn't home."

"Anyways, let me call the housekeeper and tell her to prepare a room for my parents."

Amelia called the housekeeper and gave her precise instructions. From the colour of the bed covers to the precise room she wanted her parents to be put in. Then she called the chef and gave him her parents favourite meals, what they liked and what they didn't like and how soon he should have dinner ready.

"Have you tried her again?"

Amelia asked as she walked back into the car and turned to Xavier. He had a frown on his face as he ran a hand through his hair.

"She's still not picking up. Maybe she isn't home."

"Well, that's a good thing."

They arrived back at their house later than expected and their parents were already home waiting for them. The housekeeper Millie had done everything that Amelia requested, but she left out the fact that Daphne was home.

The Johnstons had arrived at their daughter's home with a smile on their faces and they had been strangely welcomed by Daphne. Daphne introduced herself to them as Xavier's baby mama which had only confused them more. She refused to answer any more questions about how she was carrying Xavier's baby and Amelia's mother had gone to their prepared room with worry and confusion.

"Mom? Dad?" Amelia called out as she neared her parents room, according to Millie they only arrived a while ago and they had retreated to their room already.

Amelia had rushed into the house with speed after learning that Daphne had welcomed her parents.

She was going to address Daphne later, but she needed to see her parents first

Her Dad opened the door. He had a small smile on his face and a flowery shirt on him as he let his daughter in.

"Amelia!"

"Hey Dad!" She called out as she gave her Dad a hug.

"What's up? Where's mum?"

She asked as she looked around the quaint and proper bedroom.

"I'm here!" Her mother called out from the bathroom with a slipper in her hand.

She was dressed in a light and airy dress and  straw hat was still placed on her head.

"Hi Mum! How was your flight?"

She asked as she walked into the room, their luggage was in the bed and they were unpacking. It looked like they packed light. They were Probably only planning on staying for a few days.

"Oh it was great sweetie."

Her mum answered with a tight smile on her face.

"What's going on Amelia?"

Her Dad asked the same time Xavier Appeared at the doorway. He had a wide smile on his face as he approached her parents with an outstretched hand.

"What do you mean Dad?"

She asked as she quickly glanced at Xavier. Her parents slowly tuned to Xavier. There was a familiar expression on her fathers face. It was anger and her mum's held confusion.

"Sweetie, the lady we met downstairs claimed she was carrying Xavier's baby. What's that all about?"

"Is she a surrogate or something?"

Her Dad inquired and Amelia shook her head as she turned to Xavier to provide them answers.

Xavier tugged at his collar as he looked slightly uncomfortable.

"It's true. The woman is carrying my baby."

He said in a resigned voice.

"But it's not his fault though! She's his ex girlfriend and she found a way to rope Xavier in her mess."

Amelia quickly added and her parents looked at themselves. They seemed to be even more confused.

"What the hell is going on Amelia? I still don't understand."
