Chapter 19 - Blue Black.

A baby?

Pregnant?

Amelia looked around her hospital room again, surrounded by her doctor , Griffin and Ruby, she kept on wondering if she was in some sort of dreamlike state. She pinched herself and moved around in her hospital bed, still dazed by the revelation.
The words kept ringing in Amelia's ears as she touched her belly over and over again. She wasn't even listening to what the doctor was saying. She could see his lips were moving but she really couldn't make out the words.

All she could think of was the word baby and pregnant. She stared at her belly again was there really a little human growing in there? She asked herself as she touched it again.

Wow!!!

The doctor left a few moments later and Ruby's hug and shrieks brought her out of her daydream.

"Amelia!!!! Can you believe it? You're pregnant!"

Amelia laughed.

"I know! I'm still in shock! Griffin!!"

She said as she turned to her brother who was shaking his head.

"I am honestly just as surprised! I mean who would have thought you'd actually be pregnant?"

"Not me! I was thinking I'd have a baby by thirty or something!"

Amelia said as she exclaimed, it was true, she never really thought of having kids so early, especially with everything that was going on. It wasn't long before the waterworks started and she was sobbing on her hospital bed.

"Why are you crying? This is great news!"

"I know. I'm just so shocked!"

She said as she wiped her tears away as her sight became blurry with tears.

"I don't wanna ruin my Makeup!'

She said as she wiped her face gently with a tissue her brother handed her.

"I'm so happy for you Amelia!"

Griffin said as he gave his sister a brief hug. Amelia hugged him back as she squeezed him affectionately.

"Me too! Wait till we tell Molly! She's going to scream!!!"

Ruby said as she hugged Amelia and Amelia laughed.

"Want me to call Xavier?"

Ruby asked as she brought out her phone while watching Amelia intently.

"No."

Amelia said as she turned to look at her belly in awe again.

"It's not the kind of news I'd like to tell him over the phone. I'd rather tell him in person."

She said and Griffin and Ruby nodded.

"Can I at least face time Molly now?"

Amelia shook her head.

"Oh no! Molly's going to find a way to put it all over social media. I want to tell Xavier first."

Amelia said and Ruby nodded.

"Okay! I'll wait... But I can't wait too long. I'm literally going to bust with excitement."

"Me too! My hands are shaking guys! Look!"

Amelia said as she stretched out her hands for Griffin and Ruby to see. She was so happy, nervous, surprised and shocked all rolled into one.

"The doctor said you'll be here for a few days for observation and tests. Then he's placing you on a iron rich diet and you're going to be taking iron supplements for a long time."

"Oh! I forgot all about that. I wasn't even listening."
Amelia said as she started laughing and her brother nodded.

"I could tell by your dazed look. Your mind was elsewhere."

"I still can't believe it, I mean in a few months I'm going to have a really give belly!"

Amelia said as she tried to imagine how she would look like with a huge belly, she raised her top up and pulled down the band of her pants to get a closer look at her belly. In a few months it was going to expand and she was going to be huge. Unbelievable, she thought as she pulled her top back down.

"It's still kinda funny to me. I mean I knew if was bound to happen but it just looked like you and Xavier wanted to wait with all that was going on."

Griffin said as he waved his hand. He was subtly referring to Daphne and Amelia understood what he was saying. It was weird that she had not even been worried about Daphne and all that drama ever since she heard the news.

It was true, her baby and Daphne would only be a few months apart and Amelia could only imagine how weird it would be. In a way she felt bad, because she knew Xavier was obviously going to divert more attention to her baby and her more than he would ever give Daphne.

She wondered what she was having, but she knew it was too early to know. She always wanted a little girl first. A girl she could match clothes with and wear pretty outfits for. She remembered how much she used to hate having a younger brother while she was growing up, she always wanted a little sister. But then she got closer to her brother and she loved his company. He was different from the average boy when he was little. He wasn't loud and stubborn and he didn't annoy her, he loved her and they got very close.

She wouldn't mind a little boy either, but only if he looked like Xavier. She imagined he would be troublesome like his father. Nana always said Xavier was a handful while growing up.

"I'm glad you're not freaking out about this. It's so refreshing to see you genuinely happy about this."

Griffin said as he sat next to Amelia's hospital bed and Amelia frowned at him.

"What's there to be sad about? It's a baby!"

Ruby rolled her eyes at Griffin.

"The only thing Amelia is probably going to be freaking out about is how fat she's going to get."

Amelia laughed.

"Yea! That and labour. Those are the only things I'm worried about."

"You're getting an Epidural right?"

Ruby asked and Amelia nodded.

"Definitely!"

Amelia reassured her.

"It's going to be so weird if I name the baby Blue. I've always wanted to have a little girl named Blue, but now that's impossible."

"Why? Blue's a great name. Beyonce named her daughter Blue Ivy."

Griffin said as he shrugged and Amelia and Ruby shared a look.

"Really? Blue Black?"

Ruby said and the three of them started laughing widely.

"Yea, that sounds stupid."

Amelia added as she wiped stray tears from her cheeks.

"But it's probably going to be something really unique or really simple."

She started going through baby names in her head and she decided to calm herself, it was way too soon and she still had a long way to go...

Blue Black still had a lot of time before he or she came to the world. She frowned slowly, even in her head Blue Black sounded weird. What was she thinking? She thought as she lightly shook her head.

She tried to imagine Xavier's reaction but she really couldn't come up with anything. He was going to be happy no doubt, really really happy. But she knew it would complicate a lot of things for him. She was expecting, Daphne was expecting. It was easier when it was just Daphne's baby he had to worry about, but now he had to worry about theirs.

Three days later, Amelia was discharged from the hospital.
She hated her time in the hospital, the whole air of death and sickness made her feel very uneasy. And the fact that she was pregnant had made her more frightened about everything. She was constantly asking if the drugs she was taking and drips she was giving would not affect the baby. She didn't think having a baby would make her so paranoid.

She had been very careful not to mention being in the hospital to Xavier because she didn't want to lie to him about why she was there. She knew he would have questions and he would also do anything to make sure that he came over to New York just make sure that she was safe and healthy. She went back to the penthouse to pack her things. She couldn't wait to go back home to California and surprise Xavier.

"Have you told Xavier you're coming?"

Griffin asked as he carried her suitcase and Amelia shook her head as she flipped her hair over her shoulder. She needed to get an haircut before she left. Her hair was all over the place. Perhaps it would be easier to manage it when it's short. And with a baby coming, she could only expect that she wouldn't have time for frivolous things, like going to the salon frequently and getting her nails done all the time.

"I want it to be a surprise. What do you think?"

She asked as she turned to her brother Griffin who shrugged.

"The last time you dropped in unannounced you know what happened..."

"Ugh! Shut up Griffin."

Amelia said as she scrunched up her face. Trying so hard not to remember the awkward memory. She had not been thinking about Daphne the past few days, instead she had constantly worried and obsessed over everything that had to do with her pregnancy. She kept making a mental check list about the things she wanted to do.

It was crazy, nothing had ever gotten her so worked up. Not even Xavier. The baby had not been born yet she already loved him or her to bits. She was already googling parenting books and authors too.

"I'm just saying! Maybe you should give him a call first. Surprises sometimes can go very wrong."

"What are you insinuating?" Amelia asked as she folded her arms.

Griffin raised his hands in mock surrender.

"I'm just saying! He might not be home. Maybe out golfing with his friends or something."

"Xavier doesn't really have friends. Just business associates and acquaintances."

Amelia replied coolly as she threw a scarf around her neck. Although it was summer, the morning was quite chilly.

"That's peculiar."

Amelia ignored her brother and finished the rest of her packing. If they left early enough she could be in California before noon.

She couldn't wait to see Xavier, or his reaction, although for some reason, there was strange feeling at the back of her mind. A sense of foreboding that something could go very wrong.
