Chapter 16 - Ibiza.
Amelia didn't know her journey would end so soon. She had spent the better part of the journey sleeping and worrying. Xavier had insisted on dropping her off at the private airport terminal and Amelia's stomach churned as she left. She was too proud to give him a proper goodbye, or even listen to his pleas of her staying and promising that they would work things out.
She at least promised to call him everyday, it was one thing she knew she was always going to do, call him everyday. He looked a bit relieved after hearing that.
She knew he was going to be alone after she had succeeded in getting Daphne to leave the house, but she felt he needed the space too. There was a lot that was still coming and Xavier needed to be prepared for whatever it was that was coming.
Daphne on the other hand had been pissed when Amelia and Xavier insisted that she moved out, they had even helped her with her luggage and they packed her things too. The anger and shock was very clear on her face, but there was little to nothing she could do. If she had complained, it would have looked suspicious to Xavier
Molly and Ruby were expecting Amelia, she had warned them strictly not to remind her of what happened before, she just wanted to forget and they had gotten the memo.
She planned on staying at the penthouse and she had called in early to inform the building, they haven't been there in almost three months, Amelia wanted to be sure it was in great condition. There was really nothing left to pick up in her studio apartment, it was practically empty and she was thinking of renting it out. Besides, she didn't want to risk seeing Boston, if he was still living in her apartment building.
Molly and Ruby insisted to pick and Amelia at the airport and she knew that was a big deal for them. They both lived busy lives and they weren't obligated to but they insisted.
She couldn't wait to see them and know what was up with them. She felt so bad for always burdening them with her problems for the past few weeks, that was why she forewarned them that they would not be talking about 'She who must not be named and He who she didn't want to talk about'.
Amelia wanted to be the Amelia of twenty three again. Back when all she thought about was clubbing and booze and partying. The Amelia before that night at the club that changed her life when she met Xavier.
"Amelia!!!!" Molly screamed as she ran to meet Amelia who stretched out her hand while giggling loudly.
The two friends collided into a deep hug while the more cool and level headed Ruby joined in a few seconds later.
"Awwwn. We missed you so much!"
Ruby said as she rubbed Amelia's back and the waterworks started. Amelia wiped away the tears from her face as she hugged her friends tightly. She missed them so much, she missed drawing strength from them, she missed having fun with them.
"We're here for you. No matter what Mia."
Molly said and Amelia nodded as they all broke out of the hug and started giggling at each other once they saw that they were all tearing up.
"Guys, marriage is so fucking hard!"
Amelia said as she hugged Ruby separately and Molly nodded.
"Yup! That's why I'm never getting married. Playing the field is enough for me."
Molly said and Ruby smacked her arm as they started walking away from the landing strip.
"Oh come on! Don't be like that!"
"It's the truth." She shrugged and Amelia rolled her eyes at Molly who stuck her tongue out at her.
"So what's happening guys? Fill me in on how everything is going."
Amelia asked and Molly smiled mischievously.
"Well, since you asked.... Umberto, took Ruby out on a romantic date."
"Awwwn, that's so sweet."
"In Belgium!"
Molly screamed as she pointed to Ruby who blushed bashfully.
"Dude literally flew her out to get Belgium waffles for breakfast in Belgium!"
Molly exclaimed and Amelia's eyes widened.
"That is so romantic. He seems like a really great guy. I knew he was going to be a romantic. I mean, his name is Umberto."
"Oh stop it guys. What about you Molly? Tell Amelia about your new job offer in Dubai."
"Dubai?" Amelia asked with a raised eyebrow and Molly shrugged.
"I am still considering taking it. I mean, it is a big offer but I've always been a New York girl, that is a big change."
"True, but still I feel you should be free to explore, you don't plan on staying here forever do you?"
"I know! That's why I'm taking my time before making a decision."
"Oh I know. What do you girls have planned for me this week?"
Amelia asked and Ruby and Molly glanced at each other sneakily.
"You'll really just have to wait and see."
Ruby answered with a wink.
Amelia had been to Ibiza once when she was twenty with Ruby and Molly and she remembered when they vowed to go back to the White Island. She was ecstatic when the girls suggested it, four nights of dancing, drinking and partying sounded like a lot of fun to her.
It sounded like a well deserved break. She didn't hesitate to tell Xavier, although he was very reluctant and sceptical about the trip, he let Amelia go. Amelia was happy he was on board with the plan, after a few days in New York she grew tired of the loneliness that was eating her up and the lack of fresh scenery. She craved a few days alone with reckless abandonment and endless fun.
Ibiza was often referred to as the "white island" and "party capital of the world" - a neat pair of monikers that described the difference between day and night in the beautiful Spanish paradise. It had more than sixty beaches that attracted visitors from all over the globe, and boasted some of the world's best nightclubs, which keep partiers entertained from sundown until dawn.
There were plenty of things to see and do in Ibiza, the Mediterranean paradise , with a sunset boat cruise topping the list of relaxation, Ruby had made a list of the things she wanted them to do and how they wanted it to be done the moment they arrived. Amelia missed travelling with her friends, although the ten hour flight had been long and exhausting, Molly kept it interesting while recounting all her escapades since Amelia had left.
Last time they had been to Ibiza they spent a whole week partying and exploring the island's mystery and history on land at the Can Marca smugglers' caves, historic cemeteries, quaint villages, and pirate towers dotted about the island.
The first thing they did after arriving on the island was lodging at their hotel and sleeping off their jet lag. After, the girls woke up at noon and planned to hit the club Pacha very early.
"Are we having dinner now or there?"
Amelia asked as she held on to her grumbling stomach and contemplated calling room service. One of the things she missed and loved about Ibiza was their food and the alcohol. Their array of mixed cocktails and drinks was pricey but it was worth it and Amelia remembered being drunk about more than half the time was how she was the last time she visited Ibiza with her friends.
She wasn't always a big fan of seafood but she felt the overwhelming urge and craving for the seafood as she watched Molly put on makeup in front of the mirror.
"You can eat at Pacha's. But I'm not going to be having anything to eat. I plan on getting very wasted tonight."
"Ugh! Please don't. I shudder to think of how we might have to carry you all the way back to the hotel room. Just like the last time."
Ruby said as she came out of the bathroom in a mini red dress with cutouts. Her phone was in her hands and Amelia guessed that she had just finished talking to her boyfriend Umberto.
"What? None of you plan on getting wasted tonight?"
Molly asked as she glanced at Ruby and Amelia who shrugged.
"I'll probably be having only cava sangrias. I don't plan on getting too wasted tomorrow morning."
Amelia said as she picked up the phone in the room and decided to call room service. She had not had anything to eat for the last few hours, she wanted the Paella.
"Yes, I'd like to order the seafood paella."
Amelia asked shocking herself and her friends too.
"Yes, the one with the fish, prawns and shellfish. How soon can you bring it up?"
"Okay, no squids though, I hate squids."
She added as she dropped the phone and found Molly and Ruby looking at her weirdly.
"Since when do you eat seafood?"
Ruby asked with a raised eyebrow and Amelia shrugged.
"I don't know. I just feel like it."
"Don't tell me you're wearing that Mia, didn't you bring any party clothes?"
Molly groaned as she examined Amelia's sleeveless burgundy body con dress with a split at the side. The dress as velvety and chic but it was far from what party animal Amelia would have worn to a party. It also looked kind of tight. The Amelia she knew would have opted for a mini sequinned dress with a plunging neckline and open back.
"I did! Guys this is one of my favourite pieces. I just got it recently."
Amelia defended as she smoothed her hands over the velvety fabric, she really liked it.
Molly rolled her eyes as she walked towards Amelia's open suitcase and ransacked it for a while. Amelia glanced at Ruby for help but Ruby shrugged.
"Now this, this is more like it."
She said as she brought out a spaghetti strapped bodycon sequinned mini dress with a deep V neckline.
"I didn't even know I packed that. I think it's too short."
Amelia said as she pointed to the dress.
"And it's always riding up my thighs when I dance. I'm not wearing it."
"Yes, you are. Because I'm not letting you dress like a married woman to a club when Xavier isn't even going to be next to you."
Molly said as she threw the dress at her and Amelia caught it. She narrowed her eyes at Molly and Molly blew her a kiss. The sequinned dress did look more better than what she had on.
"And, do you want to wear your ring or you'll take it off?"
Molly asked.
"Molly! Stop it! She's not taking off her ring."
Ruby cut in and Amelia stared at her finger where the large rock was sitting.
"I'm not talking the ring off. I just wanna dance and have fun with my girls. I'm not looking for a man."
Amelia stated and Ruby nodded with a smile.
Molly shrugged.
"Whatever you say."
Pacha was crowded. It was 'Fuck me I'm famous' night and world famous DJ David Guetta was around and the place was fully packed. The main room had about a thousand party people jumping to the music and Molly, Ruby and Amelia weaved through the crowd smiling and laughing as they danced too.
Molly already reserved the VIP area for them since they had made bookings ahead but the energy in the main room was highly contagious and effective. Staying for about an hour and dancing wasn't going to hurt them.
They easily mingled in the dancefloor as they flowed with the beats. They had always been party animals, dancing and partying was something that they had always been accustomed to. It was in their blood and the thrumming of the beats set their body on fire.
Amelia's hair spun and bounced as she moved to the beat smiling and laughing widely. Molly already found a dancing partner and she was glued to a tall bald headed guy who held her waist as they rocked to the music.
"I'm going to get some fresh air and something to drink. Meet me at the VIP section when you're done!"
Ruby shouted and Amelia nodded. Ruby was always the first person to retire when it came to dancing. Amelia was getting tired too, she had become so lazy that she couldn't even dance for thirty minutes straight
I need to start working out. She told herself as she eyed Molly who was dancing with a green haired guy.
"Hello!"
A voice said into her ear and Amelia jerked back startled.
She didn't know who the person was and when she turned, she still didn't know him.
"Want to dance?"
The guy asked as he smiled widely he had a nice set of teeth and bulging biceps.
"I'm not sure I should!"
Amelia answered shouting at the top of her voice as she pointed to her ring.
The guy didn't look the least bit bothered.
"Doesn't matter!"
He said and Amelia smiled slowly.
It was just dancing, it wasn't a big deal.
"Okay!"
