Chapter 13 - A Proposition.

Mornings were much more beautiful in Mauritius, Amelia concluded as she rubbed her sleep filled eyes. Waking up to the sound of the beautiful chirping birds and the waves softly crashing onto the shore was as good as it could get.

Especially when she was also waking up next to a handsome man who you spent a very amazing night with. Amelia thought as she watched Xavier sleeping.

He was still lying naked under the sheets, his tanned torso barely covered by the flimsy sheets. His lashed were long and dark as they rested on his cheekbones and his lips looked pouty like that of a petulant child while he slept. He looked much younger while he slept.

She slipped out of bed quietly and put on her dressing robe, ready to bask in the fresh sunlight and inhale the fresh air.

She walked out to the patio as she watched the beautiful colours of the magnificently clear sparkling ocean water that seemed to be amplified by the presence of the sun.

There was no one on the beach and it looked like a nice time to take a walk, Amelia thought as she decided to freshen up a bit.

Last night for her had been amazing. She and Xavier had been so ravenous with each other that they had been completely spent after their little adventure.

Amelia enjoyed every minute if it, but she took the moment for what it was, it was just a fling, nothing more. She was still not receptive to the idea of being married to Xavier, nor did she want to stay with him if she had a choice.

But she admitted that after the night before, it was only going to get harder and harder to get rid of him. She had thought a night with him would eliminate all of her sinful thoughts wen it came to Xavier but it only seemed to make her want him more.
Before she got up from bed she had wanted to plant a kiss on his cheeks but she stopped herself quickly

That was what a caring, loving wife would do and Amelia was far from that. She thought as she changed into casual beach shorts and a bikini bra.

She walked out of the villa with a pair of flip flops, sunglasses, her phone and tiny tube of sunscreen.

Xavier stirred quietly as he ribbed his sleep filled eyes. His hands reached out next to him and he found the bed side empty. He opened his eyes slowly only to notice that Amelia had left the bedroom.

He stood up from the bed, stretching as he walked towards the living room.

He was practically naked, with only the pristine white sheet covering his bulging manhood and the rest of his lower body. They had both not bothered with clothes when they had finally settled for bed.

They also wore each other out, Xavier thought as he massaged his arms as he walked back into the room.
They had a full day of activity ready and he didn't want to miss anything of it. Three more days and they were done with their honeymoon.

Mary served breakfast at the straw shelters in the patio. Amelia was back from her walk, breathless with a renewed sense of energy.

Belle Mare was longer than most beaches she had been on and it was simply so breathtaking that Amelia couldn't resist soaking in the view.  When her legs almost gave out out of sheer exhaustion, she hurriedly went back to their villa eager to have breakfast and start their activities for the day.

Breakfast was already waiting her at the patio and Xavier was just about to dig into the delicious delicacy. The passed awkward glances while they both settled in their seats, serving themselves helpful portions of the breakfast.

"How did you sleep?"

Xavier asked and Amelia shrugged.

"Not very well. It was a long night really."

She said as she shrugged, glancing at him beneath her eyelashes.

"Yea, me too."

They ate in silence for a while till Amelia decided she wanted to break the silence and clarify a few things.

"What happened yesterday..."

"A mistake?" Xavier asked with a pointed look and Amelia shook her head.

"No! I never said that. I just meant to say that we're both adults and we need to take responsibility for it."

"Yes, we do. We're also married so it's not a big deal."
Xavier added and Amelia glared at him.

He shrugged indifferently.

"What? You just seem to be leaving out the fact that this is our honeymoon. It's what is expected of us."

"Uhm! Yea! When you're in a real relationship, it's normal. Not an arranged marriage with someone you've barely known for two weeks."

"Well, you seem to forget that our relationship as never been normal, I mean, we met in a bar and slept together during our first meeting."

Amelia cringed at the thought.

"Yes, that  happened. I must admit, I shouldn't have done that. In fact, I've never done that before. I don't know what came over me."

Xavier shrugged as he took a bite out of his fresh fruits.

"You don't have to explain it to me. I was also a very willing partner. You didn't force me."

"Good." Amelia said with a smile.

"I know it'll take some time for us to get along, but for the sake of my Nana and the fact that we're married, let's try as much as possible to pretend to be a happy and loving couple outside."

Xavier stated and Amelia raised her eyebrows in curiosity.

"What about in private?"

There was a gleam of mischief in her eyes as she asked the question and Xavier caught on to it.

"What you want to happen in private is entirely dependent on you. We can continue to bicker and fight or we can come to an agreement."

"Another agreement?"

Amelia asked with a raised eyebrow.

Xavier rolled his eyes as he moved closer to Amelia. The fresh air and sunshine was doing wonders for her skin and it was fresh and glowing like never before. He wondered if it was soft as it looked. He suddenly felt the pressing urge to touch her again. But he controlled himself.

"A truce, you may call it. We're going to be together for a while, if not a long time. We'll need to, live in a way that's comfortable and respectable..."

"So? What are you proposing Xavier? Because I can smell a proposition and you're not too far from one."

Amelia asked and Xavier smirked.

"Yes, you're right. I know emotionally, we may never get attached, we're much too different. But on a purely physical level, judging by what happened last night, I think we can make it work."

There was a short pause before Amelia filled the silence with uncontrollable laughter.

The whole situation was so messed up and funny that she laughed till tears started appearing at the corner of her eyelids. She couldn't believe that her husband was proposing a no strings attached relationship to her.

"Let me get this straight, you want us to have a kind of sex only, no strings attached relationship?"

Amelia asked and Xavier nodded.

"Yes, That's exactly what I'm saying."

"Really?" She asked just to be sure about it.

Amelia shrugged, over the years, Amelia had found out that sex and love went hand in hand. All the men she had slept with, she was in love with them and it was an extremely short list.
Amelia never just had sex to quench her sexual appetite, except for the time with Xavier.  So a sexual relationship without the emotional relationship seemed impossible to her. There was always one person who would get hurt.

"I'll consider it. But honestly, I don't think it's a good option. Can't we just take lovers instead?"

Amelia asked teasingly and Xavier looked so mortified by her suggestion that she had to tell him she was kidding.

Mary arrived exactly at that moment.

"Sir, the helicopter is available for your use today whenever you need it."

Helicopter? Amelia thought as she looked up at Xavier in confusion.

"Thank you Mary. I'll be sure to call you when we're ready to leave."

"Helicopter? What for?"

Amelia asked and Xavier casually sipped his drink.

"I heard the aerial view of Mauritius is just as beautiful as the landscape view. So I booked us a helicopter flight to see it. What do you think?"

Amelia scratched her neck. She had a mild fear of heights, but she could manage it if she was in a large space. But a helicopter was going to be small and cramped with large open doors at the side.

"Well, I don't know. I have a mild fear of heights. And if it's going to be an helicopter so..."

Xavier shrugged.

"Don't worry. You're in good hands. I'll be flying it."

Amelia's eyes widened.

"No way in hell I'll let you drag me into a helicopter with you!"

She spat out and Xavier laughed.

"We'll see."

Few hours later, Amelia prepared herself for a helicopter ride with Xavier. She ditched her shorts for a yellow sundress and brown sandals while they waited for an appointed car that was going to take them to Le Morne around the south west of the Island.

The arrived at a private airstrip and the original pilot of the helicopter handed over the controls to Xavier. Amelia's jaw dropped. She thought he was kidding when he said he could fly. She only wished she had taken him seriously.
She eyed him wearily as he tested the controls and navigation of the helicopter before the pilot told them that they were ready to take off.

"Are you sure you can fly this thing?" She asked him one final time with the doubt painfully gnawing at her stomach.

"Sure I can! I've done this a few times."

Xavier said and with that, he started the helicopter. Being in an helicopter was completely different than being in a plane, first, Amelia was overwhelmed with the feeling that she was unsafe.

But Xavier was in complete control and he knew what he was doing. It wasn't long before they both started enjoying the spectacular scenery of the island that was not only limited to the land above sea level.

The shoreline around Le Morne showed a stunning view of the waters of the Indian ocean and made it seem like the waters were plunging down a cliff edge and tumbling down into the abyss below. It gave a wonderful illusion of  waterfall inside the ocean.

"It's beautiful Xavier! Can you see that?" Amelia shouted and Xavier nodded.

"I told you the view was better up here!"

"I love it here! It's like being in a magical paradise. If only we could stay here forever!"

Amelia screamed out. It was after the sentence flew out of her mouth that she realised that she had used 'we' instead of 'I'

Xavier on the other hand either didn't notice or he didn't consider it a big deal.

"Who says we have to leave!"
