Chapter 62

Audrey
I am proud of my work. After what Pen asked me to do, I watched Muse and Mr. Hawam's every move. That evening, Euniel came back into the house, hastening his feet. I too had just come home from work and hadn't even entered my room yet. I narrowly missed falling over when he ran down the stairs to get safely to Mr. Hawam's room. I was standing on the balcony wondering why he was in such a rush. Before I even understood anything, I see Muse come out of her room, hurrying her steps in her turn. I understand then on the field that something must happen. About a minute, Muse, Euniel and Mr. Hawam leave, then they go to Mr. Hawam's office. Once all entered, they close the door after them. Fortunately it is not locked. I walk on the soles of my feet to Mr. Hawam's office door and put my ear to the door. Lucky for me that they spoke loudly, which allowed me to hear what they were talking about. Anyway, I got the gist. Euniel is going to travel for the weekend to see his father, at his insistence. It was the most important.
"Audrey?!"
I turn around in fear. It was my mother who caught me in the act.
"Mom, speak less loudly!" I whispered angrily.
I walked over to her and pulled her away from where we were. Afterwards, I went into my room without saying anything to him. My mother follows me to my room, without much surprise on my part.
"What do you want mom?" I growled looking annoyed at her.
"What were you doing there?"
"What I was doing has nothing to do with you. Besides, you don't have to control my actions."
"Can you hear you talking there Audrey? Need I remind you that I caught you spying on your sister and Mr. Hawam?" My mother scolded me, raising her voice.
"Shh! So you can't talk without shouting mum?"
"What are you afraid of Audrey? Why are you trying to follow their conversations? What interests you?" My mother insisted without letting go.
"It's nothing mum. You're kidding yourself. I was just worried about Muse. I thought she was worried." I managed to invent to put him to sleep.
"Worrying about her? And why is that?" She repeated, looking up at me in disbelief.
"I don't know mum. Euniel came in looking serious and they all rushed to the office. I thought something serious had happened. What else are you going to imagine? For what other reason am I going to spy on my sister and Mr. Hawam?"
"And even if it was, don't you think it's not appropriate to spy on them? Your sister will tell us what's going on when the time is right, don't you believe that?"
"You're right, whatever! Anyway, I didn't follow anything they were saying anymore because you interrupted me. So you can go out and leave me alone. I want to take my bath. "
I finally managed to get rid of my mother who already annoyed me a lot. Luckily I was able to come up with a pretty good excuse for her and she swallowed it. As soon as my mom came out, I jumped on my phone to call Pen. He listens to what I have to say to him. It's worth spending the evening with him, since I'm not working tomorrow.
Paulina
I was not at all surprised by what Pen taught me.
"I knew Charles was going to betray us eventually. Didn't I tell you that?" I told Pen.
"What are you going to do now? Tomorrow is when Euniel is supposed to go see him." Pen replied.
"There is only one thing to do, and you know it very well."
"I understand, but I wish things had turned out differently." Pen said in a sad voice.
"I know, but there's nothing we can do about it. Charles is a stubborn person and sooner or later we couldn't have avoided what happened. We can't take any risks. Charles has to die." I say in a sharp tone.
"You're right, if we let him talk to his son, we can say goodbye to our business and our freedom. We can't run such a risk." Pen he agreed with me.
On Saturday morning, I left the house very early, without Georges knowing where I was going. I arrive at Charles where I have a key to his house. I therefore enter without making a sound. I walk towards his room, because at this hour, he must still be there. I don't knock on the door and I open it directly. Sure enough, Charles was in his room. I find him lying on the bed.
"So honey, did you sleep well?" I said walking towards him in a sensual step.
"Pauline?" Charles cried out at me, it looked like he had seen a ghost.
"What is it? Aren't you happy to see me honey?" I say coming to sit on the bed.
"What are you doing here? Why did you come to my house?" He questions me in an aggressive tone.
"Calm down darling! I thought you liked seeing me. How about we have a little sex?! What do you say?"
I walk on the bed towards him. I come close to him, then I caress his chest sensually.
"No, not now. We could do it later. Tonight, I promise." He replies nervously, pushing me away.
"And why should I wait until evening? I want it right away!" I order, raising my voice.
"And I told you I'm not ready for that. Can't you understand that? Go home now, I want to be alone."
"What are you hiding from me?"
"Nothing. What are you imagining there? What do you think I can hide from you?"
"I don't know. You tell me. Maybe it's the fact that you called Euniel behind my back and plan to tell him our secrets?!"
Hearing this, Charles's face immediately changes. He understands that the hour is serious for him.
"How do you know such a thing?" He asks me with a fearful look.
"It's up to me to ask questions. You know all the same that I can know everything I want and who I want?! How could you dare to betray me Charles? After all that I did for you?"
"What have you done for me besides screwing up my life Pauline? You destroyed my family by ripping away the only woman I've ever loved. Because of that, my life has never been the same again. " Charles complains, yelling at me.
"I opened your eyes to keep at least what little dignity you had left. You wanted to marry a woman who was pregnant by another, and raise her bastard son. You should thank me for that."
"No Pauline. A dignified man is one who accepts the woman he is in love with and takes care of her, despite her past. I became one when I met Cécile. But you screwed it all up. and Pen. My life has had no meaning since then. I don't want to blame you and deny my responsibilities, but I know I would have avoided a lot of mistakes if I hadn't met you on my way. But I have only myself to blame, since I didn't have enough balls to refuse your influence on my family."
"Mope all you want Charles. But do you know the price to pay when I'm betrayed?!"
"What are you going to do to me Pauline?" Charles asks me the question anxiously.
"What question my little Charles?! I'm going to kill you of course! Nobody dares to challenge me and betray me, then stay alive. You know that very well, but you still took the risk to do it ."
I say by joining the action to the word. I pulled out my gun and pointed it at him.
"Please, we can arrange otherwise." He begged me.
"I'm sorry, but you're no use to me anymore. If I let you live, you're going to be a huge problem for me." I say decisively.
"So that's what you see in men? So we're only for vulgar objects?"
"You understood that well my dear. And therefore, I must eliminate you."
"Be it, but know that your end is very close Pauline. You will fall and you will only have your eyes to cry. I regret having walked into your scheme, because you are the devil."
"Farewell Charles!"
I pulled the trigger and the bullet took refuge in his heart. He died without me having to add another shot. I then ran out. Fortunately, moreover, because Euniel arrived less than a minute after I left Charles's house.
