Chapter 64
Euniel
I'm sitting in the collapsed hospital. My father finally passed away. The bullet would take refuge in his heart.
"Euniel!"
I turn around to see Muse coming towards me, hurrying her feet. When she gets to my height, she takes me in her arms and then begins to comfort me.
"I'm sorry! Come here. Take a seat."
Muse takes my hand then leads me to sit on a bench in the hallway.
"What happened? Were you able to talk to him at least?" She asks me when we have where to settle down properly.
"I don't know Muse. When I arrived, He was lying on the bed. He was shot in the chest. I came too late. The person who did this beat me to it just a few minutes before. " I told Muse, sniffling.
"Oh..." Muse exclaimed terrified.
"He had changed, you know? I could feel in his voice on the phone that he wanted to redeem himself. He said such profound things to me..." I can't finish my sentence, I'm so moved and I put myself to cry.
Muse takes me in her arms while saying words of consolation to me. When I manage to calm down a bit, she tells me
"The most important thing is that he intended to redeem. He can rest easy."
"I feel very bad because the last time I left his house I said such mean words to him. I told him that I was never going to set foot in his house again and that he was not my father."
"You were speaking in anger and I'm sure he didn't take your words at face value."
"Thank you Muse, thank you for coming. I feel so lost."
"I'll always be here for you Euniel, never doubt that. You have no idea what I'm willing to do for you." Muse said, giving me a sincere look.
"Thank you!"
"I'll take care of morgue arrangements and paperwork. Guess you must want to go to your dad's?! I'll meet you there after I'm done here. Just leave me the address."
Muse accompanies me into the taxi, then returns to the hospital to take care of the registration at the morgue. I am very grateful to Muse for what she is doing right now. I don't think I would have had the strength to deal with all that. Even though Charles wasn't my biological father, I really loved him. I only ever had him as a father figure. I suffered a lot from his lack of love for me, when in reality he loved me all the same. It is precisely when he tells me that he dies. If he had died in circumstances other than these, I wouldn't have been so hurt.
I enter my father's house and this time, it is no longer this icy house containing bitter memories that I saw. It was rather the image of my father and his last words that resounded in my head. I walk, scanning every corner of this house, into my father's room. I sit on the floor once in his room. I still cry for several minutes before getting up from the floor to put away my dad's things. While doing it, I tried to recall good memories of him, like the times he put a present on my bed on Christmas Day, or when he gave me a present when I passed my primary school exam.
Muse came back very late in the evening.
"I couldn't finish the paperwork sooner." She apologized by coming to find me in my father's room.
"It doesn't matter, we'll be back tomorrow morning while waiting for the mourning program to be established." I say to reassure her.
"Okay! I'm going to go to the kitchen to quickly prepare you the fish I brought from the supermarket. You haven't swallowed anything since you've been here and you have to eat." She says, suiting the action to the word.
Muse goes to the kitchen where she cooks the meal quickly. She comes to call me to come eat after half an hour. Muse leaves me no choice but to eat, because she kept me company while eating. I don't know why I called on her when I found my father dead, instead of Sandra or Nicolas, but I wanted her to be there. I feel comforted by her side, because she always knows what to do and what to say at all times. When we finish eating, Muse clears the table, then comes back to me.
"Come, I'll show you the room where you're going to sleep." I tell her as I get to my feet.
I take Muse to one of the four bedrooms in this house. I go in and look for sheets in the closet, then I hand them to her.
"Hopefully that will do. It's the bare minimum, but I think it'll be okay."
"It's okay, don't worry. Thank you!" She said to me, taking the sheets from my hands.
"It's up to me to thank you."
I turn to leave, but Muse calls out to me.
"Euniel?"
"Yes?" I respond by turning to her.
"Are you okay? Can you spend the night alone?"
Her voice was so tender and her gaze filled with a lot of affection. It's as if that's what my body wanted to perceive from her. I don't know with what power, but suddenly I found myself in front of her, my lips happily seeking hers.
"No my love, I need you. I don't want you to leave me alone." I whisper in her ears the body burning with desire.
