Chapter 68
Sandra
Euniel took the bait. It reacts exactly as I had hoped.
"I can't believe Muse or my father betrayed me."
"Maybe deep down you don't know them that well."
"Of course I know them."
"No my darling. We never know enough about human beings. Should I remind you that man is divergent and undulating?"
"And why would they do such a thing? I mean, why would they betray me?"
"I don't know me! Maybe they have ulterior motives. Muse for example, you told me that she was at the brothel where your mother is being held captive. She may have kept contact with these people. Think a little bit, you will surely find that there is something wrong in this story."
"You may be right now that you bring it up."
Euniel starts moving around the room, looking pensive. There is no doubt that my words have had an effect on him.
"Of course I'm right my love!" I went further by rubbing the knife more in the wound.
"Maybe I should have been more careful handling this case on my own. These people are strong enough, I underestimated them."
"You shouldn't have trusted Muse and your father. In this kind of situation, you can never be sure of anything. No one must be aware of your every move. It's not that you don't like them, but there are certain situations that require a certain way of doing things."
I was playing with Euniel's psychology so that he began to doubt Muse more.
"You're right. I should take care of this on my own. That's what will happen from now on. I have to concentrate on finding my mother without anyone's help."
Hearing Euniel say that does me a lot of good. How I had dreamed of this moment! Finally, the reign of Muse may be a matter of the past. It remains now that I ask him to think about our marriage.
Muse
My dad and I finally came home. The same day, we discussed about this mourning.
"I can't believe he died just when he should be telling Euniel the truth!" My father exclaimed, looking discouraged.
"They must have been aware of this information and they killed him before he opened his mouth. I don't believe it was a coincidence at all." I affirm in a convinced tone.
"I don't believe in a coincidence either. Who knows, maybe these people are closer to us than we thought."
"I must admit that we underestimated them."
"You're right my daughter! These people turned out to be smarter than we thought." My father agrees.
"What intrigues me the most is how they must have had Euniel meet his father. Yet we had made sure that no one apart from the three of us took part in our discussions. I remember that that day, we had discussed this in your office. How is it possible that they knew?"
"I can't explain this to myself either. Maybe the leak comes from Charles's side. Who knows, maybe he wasn't paying attention and this information fell into his ears of these people."
"Do you think so? I personally don't think he could have been stupid enough to talk about his intention to reveal the truth to his son to these people, knowing that they can be dangerous. There is something something is wrong, and I have to find out very quickly."
"You are right." My father agreed with me.
"There is something else that caught my attention during this mourning." I say looking more concerned.
"Ah yes? What then?" My father questioned me curiously.
"I met Pauline there."
"Pauline? The same as your uncle's wife?" My father asked surprised.
"Yes. And what is most amazing is that she seemed to know Charles very well. Euniel told me that he met her every time he went to his father's house. He even seems that she seemed to have a great influence on him. The last time his father wanted to give him information about his mother, Pauline came and demanded to speak to Charles immediately. his return, Charles did not want to say anything more to Euniel." I told my father who listens to me attentively.
"What you're telling me is very serious. So that would mean that Pauline could be involved in this affair!"
"I too think the same."
"We need to get together very soon to talk about all this. Do you have any idea when Euniel will be home?"
"He told me he was going to stay there for two more days."
"Very well! In that case, we will talk about the strategy to adopt when he returns."
If it turns out that Pauline is involved in a case, I would be happy to destroy her. This case will become a priority for me, and I won't rest until she and her entire network go down.
