Knowledge is a pain to find

She stood at her bedroom door trying to take a deep breath and failing, she would have to be with him again today. Pretend that they were normal and that nothing was wrong with them.
" He can't have pissed you off that badly," Aspen asked coming to join her by the door and she huffed
" Like you wouldn't believe" she muttered beneath her breath
" I thought you were both doing well, lots of noises from your bedrooms at the hotel" she grinned salaciously and Emily smiled, it was funny in a way but also it wasn't.
" Let's get out of here" Aspen mumbled and she nodded her agreement
They pulled open the door to find Mira waiting for them
" Hello ma'am" she muttered and Emily smiled fondly
" Morning, dear where are you leading us to today " she asked and got a smart nod
" we're going through here" She mumbled and Aspen paused slinging a small bag over her shoulder,
" We're going there," she asked pointing to the dark corridor, Logan and Bruce joined them as well,
" Going where"
" To the library, Beta Hilda will be waiting for us on the other side " she answered rubbing her palm against her jeans as she looked at them
" Who keeps a library in a dark hidden spot" Bruce muttered in annoyance and she hid a smile that started to bloom on her face.
" Who's Hilda" Logan queried,
" She's the beta who has been in charge of running our archives, it is not as large as those in the Golden Fang pack towards the coast"
"We're going to be late, let's go" She nodded towards the door, and she led us down the corridor, lighting the wicks as she went on.
They arrived at the door where she placed her hand in the outstretched palm of the woman, turning to Emily and Aspen she gestured toward the door, they inched forward placing their hand atop her own, Emily felt the tightening grip of woman and then the lock clicked, as one they pushed the door inward and they fell –or it felt like they were falling –there was so much bright light that she couldn't make out where they were or force herself to keep her eyes open, the journey came to an end when they collapsed facedown on the cold floor.
" Ok they did not have to make the trip to the library death-defying " Logan groused, she huffed sitting straight,
" I think that was the point, you are unlikely to go somewhere that could kill you just to get in " Aspen muttered, Emily ignored them all her head was still spinning so she was in no actual hurry to get up.
Blinking once then twice she looked around her, Logan was kneeling beside her reaching to help her up, she took his hand and rose to her feet. He looked her in the eye and she fell under whatever spell he was trying to weave around her unable to let him keep watching her she let him go coughing to hide her discomfort.
Bruce was crouched a few feet away studying something on the walls
" Anything interesting" she asked and he sighed.
" There are funny carvings on the wall, very intricate" he mumbled and she smiled at his deep interest
The room they were in didn't seem like the library, it was a wide open space, built with glass which was a feat in and of itself, and as Bruce had said the carvings were fascinating, they weren't that many and the few carvings, were only of a female, the same female that had been etched into the door knob we had just used to get here
" Who is she " Emily asked and Mira smiled
" Fressian goddess of knowledge, Samoa" Emily studied her again, she would have been beautiful in physical form, she stood seductively with her hand outstretched, as if offering a forbidden fruit to someone but unlike the carving in front of the library door, she could see a slight glint in the lion's eyes and a shine to the woman's dress almost like they were trying to make it real and she wondered if the others could see it too or if she was the only one
Emily looked around the building a little awed
" This is way too much glass to be used in a building. It has to be extremely fragile" Bruce mused standing to his full height.
" The magic in it is powerful and so it is strong. Welcome "Turning toward the wall of glass Emily watched as the woman who had to be the beta Hilda appeared before them, she was very beautiful, her eyes a soft green with little flecks of crystals in them her hair was cut short to her chin the red looking a stark contrast to the white pantsuit that she had on
"You welcome to our library, the alpha has asked me to show you around, are you ready" she said with a smile on her face
" Yes we are, " Logan said staring intently at her and she smiled tucking a strand of hair behind her ears
" Welcome to Tall Hill, this was considered the last retreat for all priestesses of the goddess" she announced and Emily shared a look with Aspen
"Are there any others?" Aspen asked and she shrugged
" Many are dead, many more fled persecution it was devastating to the Fressian culture," she answered
" Is Sera one of those priestess?" Emily asked and she got a simple nod
" Yes, although it is said she was the reincarnation of Samoa but we could never prove it" she replied
" We will leave when you are ready, there are four rooms filled with books that you can scour for information."
" You can decide how you choose to tackle it and ask for my assistance if you need it " she offered, Emily nodded
" Thank you"
"You're welcome, I will leave you all to explore"

Logan smiled at her
" So you want to explore the place " he asked as if he knew she was feeling a bit restless and knew she would want to look around first. It irked her, his show at supposed knowledge of her
" No I'd like to go to the library let's get to work immediately maybe we can find something there to help us." She replied, he grabbed his duffel bag and gestured for them to follow
The Tall Hill was quite beautiful, with stained blue glass windows and emerald doors, they strode out of the main hall into a smaller corridor where they found a line of doors they pushed a few and found pristine bedrooms. Logan picked one of the books and gestured to the next one for Bruce
" How do you want us to do this," he asked and she nodded
" We have four rooms for two days, Aspen and Logan work together since we were both with alpha Zavi. It will help us narrow down what we're looking for "
" I'll work with Bruce" she offered
" Are you sure you want to work with me?" he asked and she looked at him with a small smile
" Well, I'd like to let the paper pusher on our team go to Aspen " she offered and he laughed.
Logan huffed
" Of course make fun of me " he muttered looking annoyed, she tried to hide her smile she wasn't sure she succeeded
" I like you little princess" Bruce muttered grabbing her hand in his as he led her across the room
" Alright let's do research" he offered and the others nodded.
They found the library on a whole floor of its own. And just as they were about to split Aspen turned to them
" So we want to find history books anything, about the brothers and the priestess Sera, then we want to see if we can find maps as many as possible of Were towns," she said and they nodded
Emily murmured
" We'll meet in the center of the room in four hours," she said softly and they all nodded and dispersed
" I'll start here," Bruce said shooting him a small smile
They separated briefly picking books, she took a book from the shelf and scanned it then pushed it back in
" So, you and Logan are not on good terms," he asked and she sighed
" What did he tell you, " she asked and he shrugged
" Not much" he offered and she looked away. Of course nothing
" I'd like to say nothing too" she mumbled as she shoved back the next two books as well.
" That's fine "
" Let's go on" she muttered, the next books weren't written in English and the symbols used weren't familiar but the next one was a dictionary of sorts for the symbols they had found in the library at Wolf City, she out that on the pike
" Have you found anything" she called looking to Bruce who was busy as, he glanced at the shelf and then stopped at a book that seemed to be half an inch with an illustration of the sun on it binding, picking it off the shelf and opening it.
" Ah ha, English" he mumbled as he scanned the first page and was immediately engrossed. She smiled, Bruce was such a kind man. Emily had no idea why Aspen was rejecting him.
He flipped another page caught up in the descriptions, he grimaced at something. She went back to work
" I see you found lots of somethings," she said and he jerked glancing to meet my gaze.
" Shit have I been here long," he asked standing, groaning as he did
" A while, but we were all engrossed, let's talk about what we found," she said and he nodded following her,
Aspen was reading something and Logan was slouched on a seat a book in his hands looking annoyed as hell.
" What are you reading that got you looking like that" Bruce asked
" A colorful portrayal of genocide" he grunted shoving the book towards him, he took it skimmed the page, and whistled softly,
" This is – wow. Well according to this the two reigning brothers decided they weren't quite fond of each other when a priestess's affection was up for grabs. She was not allowed to wed so first they went on a manhunt together killing off all the religious" he said looking at the books
" I have to admire their tactics," Aspen said and Emily clicked her teeth. It was clever
" Well their clever tactics didn't count on her rage, which she used to curse them
"I curse you for your deed, your land, and spouse, friend, brother against brother-," Emily read out and Bruce glanced at her in surprise
" Yeah how do you know that," he asked and she sighed
" One of the books, to stop her curse from coming true Jiron was the highest advisor, took seriously what was said and killed his brother and took the priestess as a wife " she interjected, Logan whistled and Aspen nodded
" Men, typical bunch"
" Yeah well he didn't enjoy for long, soon the curse came into effect and he was left fighting too many people all at once "
" So the priestess was burnt at the stake as a sacrifice to appease the gods"
" How did they think that would work" Logan asked and he scoffed
" Well, apparently it worked. There were no curses, but sources say that the priestess before her death said three words as she died, days after she had given birth to her daughter" Bruce said

" Meaning," Logan asked
" Goddess rebirth"
" And by any chance was this baby named Sera " Emily asked
" Bingo," Bruce said
" Well that's informative and lengthy" Logan added.
" And it means we're on track to finding this Sera person's info "
" What did you find on our quest, anything about the four brothers " Emily asked drawing closer to the book Logan held
" Well, I am now well versed in the physiology of the werewolves which was something I never thought would happen, but no mention of the four brothers" he offered as she sagged in disappointment.
" I only found a dictionary of some sort for the symbols we saw back home" she muttered showing them the book
" We need to get some food" Bruce muttered when his stomach growled
" We need to find something more, we only have a day left," she said feeling helpless all of a sudden, Aspen grabbed her arm
" We need to decide where we go from here, we can't do that on an empty stomach," she said and Emily huffed
"Fine, a quick bite and then back to work"
" Yes task master " Logan mumbled and she frowned was she being unreasonable?
