The Things we Know

Emily found alpha Briar to be very peculiar, She was tired and her eyes were filled with a sadness that seemed so thick and cloying like she would collapse under the weight.
They had all gone to their room to change and clean their wounds, each time she looked at Logan, she was reminded that he could have died and she would have lost him forever, now she just wanted to hold on to him and never let go
Now they were back in a room that seemed to be used to plan wars and as Alpha Briar walked towards them her gown a pale blue thin dress that fell to her knees, and was cinched at the waist with a blade tied to it.
She looked young now but she looked fierce too exactly like the matriarch she was.
Alpha Briar came to stand in front of her and Emily felt her breath catch in her chest, then she smiled and looked away from her
"When I saw you the first time, I thought you looked like her" she whispered and Emily blinked rapidly
" I don't understand"
" My sister, you looked like her, had the same glint of fury and smarts that she did when she was younger"
" I wouldn't know, I have not had the pleasure of meeting her " she answered sadly
" Of course, let's leave this talk" she replied, she walk away striding towards her Beta and she sat down on her seat
" What did you find " she asked and Emily moved forward
" We found many books, one of them, listed four brothers Fynian, Teninis, Casper and Brennan, they ruled each cardinal point they seemed to be powerful, no one knew where they came from there were speculations of course but nothing concrete." Logan answered
" Your library seems to have more information in them Teninis was the eldest and was lord of the South and fall " Emily continued
" Casper was lord of the East and Spring and his brother Brennan was lord of Summer and the West. The last born brother who was the youngest from their father- the King god's affair with the priestess who kept his temple he was not liked by his brothers and his mother died at his first birthday killed by the queen goddess his father could care less but he was his son so he was given the North and Castle of winter"

" What did he gain" she paused looking away
" I have no idea but–" Emily paused unsure what to say
" You think this Fynian, is the Finn who plagues us " the beta Sia said she froze, shock washing, she glanced at Alpha Briar but she seemed unfazed but Logan was as shocked as she was
" Yes I do " she said softly, Briar smiled
" If that is the case ,then we need to start gathering an army because he will not stop" she said and Aspen nodded
"Finally someone who has the same idea" she muttered
" One thing I need to know, why is Sera mentioned in your scrolls " she asked finally. Alpha Briar looked to the scroll
" It's something that is inherited from my family" she frowned then realized that this she was talking about the scroll.
" My father is also mentioned here " she added turning to bow her head at a portrait of an Alpha hanging on the wall.
" My sister was born five years after I was "
" But if she is the priestess then she has to have been –"
" Let me stop you there, I don't think she was the priestess. I may look old but I'm only forty two. She would have been thirty seven I think" she mumbled
" What happened, " Logan asked and she sighed
" My father was a great believer in religion, he loved the Fressian culture and their gods and so he liked to believe that he would see the rebirth. When my sister was born she had eyes of ice they were not natural and his gimmicks told him it was her. He named her Sera"
" Ambitious much" Logan said and she smiled
" He always was "
" I'm assuming it did not go as planned" Bruce hissed and she sighed
" No it did not. Sera was a sickly child and my father was infuriated, he was trying to get the Golden Fang pack to be one of the greatest in the realm and she was not helping in anyway so he abandoned her. She died on her twenty first birthday"
She didn't seem to want to say any more so she stopped and diverted the conversation else where
" We will need men, I assume that we have an army from you "
"That is why we are here" she stated and Emily nodded
" You have my men as well, unlike my father, I do not want fame, I just want peace" she replied looking at them
" You have brought him and his army to my doorstep I forgive this because I know you have a reason" she muttered and Emily fought the urge to squirm
" I don't want my people to suffer so I will help"
" Thank you Alpha" she answered bowing low
" It doesn't matter, in a way we are responsible, Jessie helped that man" Briar said turning her annoyed gaze to the notebook on the table.
" That is something I will always regret" she whispered softly.
" We need more men, we need to get to Alpha Devin" she scoffed
" That mule will make you beg for it" she said and Logan grimaced, Emily smiled
" We know but we need his help and it's likely Finn will attack us here " she said softly
" Well you can send a message, let us see if he will help" she grabbed the note book and looked to her
" You should rest, I will as well"
They walked to their room, she held on to Logan
" How do you feel" Logan asked
"I should be asking you that" she said as she led him to the room coming to stand next to him she turned to face him leaning against the baluster
" I don't know. Physically I am fine but mentally I am not so sure " he huffed.
" We're close to war"
" Yes we are and I have so much doubt in my bones. Are we truly ready " he murmured she grabbed his arm
" You know that's just the rambling of your mind because of the deaths " she said and he nodded resting his palm on her shoulder
" I know"
" We'll get through this" she said kissing his hand, he drew her in and kissed her cheek softly
" I'm worried about Bruce " he said and she nodded
" I know you are "
" I should go talk to him shouldn't I" he mumbled and she smiled
" If you want to " she replied, he sighed,
" Go talk to him, check on him, I'll be waiting for you " she said and he nodded his agreement.
Pulling him into a tight embrace she sighed drawing back she smiled and went into the room she needed to talk to Aspen too
Taking a deep breath, Emily strode to the door opening it and stepping into the corridor.
She found her in the corridor looking out a window she walked to her
" Is your room ok" she asked
" Yes,it is good," she answered,
" And Bruce " she asked
" He is fine, he's healing but not as fast as I'd like " she muttered and she took her hand
" You worry about him" she mumbled
" Of course I do he's my best friend"
" Just a friend" she asked and got a slight smile in return
" Yes just a friend, "
" So the anger I feel is you just angry for a friend"
" What are you getting at " she muttered and Emily shrugged
" Nothing, I'm just saying love can be quiet sometimes"
" You think I love Bruce" she muttered and Emily smiled looking away, she definitely did but it was best to let her see that on her own.
Emily was worried about her family but after all this maybe she could finally go home and everything would be ok.
" I love Logan " she said instead and Aspen laughed
" That's not even news " she mumbled and Emily laughed
" I know, but I felt I needed to say it " she mumbled
" Do you think he feels the same way"
"Of course he does, you are his mate " she smiled
" That's a nice sentiment "
" He's with Bruce now" Aspen said just as the door opened and Logan walked out
" And now he's out "
" Goodnight Emily" she said rising to her feet
" Good night" she said in return watching as she walked to the door
" Love can be quiet" she called, Aspen waved at her as she walked into her room closing the door behind her.
" What was that about" he asked and she smiled shaking her head
" Let's get some rest. I have a feeling we'll need it"
They walked into their room and closed the door, Logan grabbed her by the waistband she laughed
" What is your problem" she asked jokingly and he smiled
" I missed you"
" I never left " she muttered, he swallowed looking into her eyes
" I know" he leaned his forehead against hers. He kissed her cheeks then her lips
" We need to get through this all of us, I don't think I'd make it if we don't" he mumbled and she smiled
" We will, " she mumbled even as the pit in her stomach widened she hoped with all her heart that they did.
