The Beginning of the Truth

Logan heard the door open or was it closed, the cold air that passed over him had him stilling on the bed which was now empty and cold space which should have been warm from Emily's body, which meant she was not there. He opened his eyes looking at the room trying to be inconspicuous, he knew Bruce was awake but likely playing dead to avoid any undue trouble. He knew that wasn't Emily, the scent was all wrong.
" He isn't dead, why isn't he dead yet " she muttered beneath her breath,– ah that was Jessie the woman who had planned his murder and killed the maid.
Now that he heard her and saw her from the corner of his eye, she wasn't that hard to find.
She had a knife in her hand and she was walking to his bed, Bruce was also moving too, his steps were lighter and much more quiet but Logan sensed him still,
" I'm going to end it now" she hissed arms raised and then she plunged it down, but Bruce shoved her away, there was a loud thud then a grunt and he smelled blood, he got to his feet almost immediately and followed them to where they were struggling be pulled her away from Bruce to give him the time to recuperate, and she stuck the knife in his side, Logan grunted grabbing her hand, he pulled out the blade slowly until it was out completely, he staggered to his feet a little dizzy it seems the effect of the Wolfsbane had not cleared up as much as he had thought. He felt like he was about to fall when she caught him, she wasn't string enough to fight him but just enough to point the knife at his throat
" Don't come near me " she said dragging him out the door there was blood splattered on the floor there wasn't much of it over the place but he was worried about Emily and Aspen the most, they could not have gone far likely the library which meant they would likely come back to find this chaos
He let her drag him into the hall with Bruce following them behind we needed open space enough where we could distract her so that she didn't know what was happening.
He and Bruce locked eyes and they nodded just as the bedroom door opened wider and there they were frozen Aspen and Emily just behind her.
" What the hell is going on" she asked as Bruce joined her. He looked to where Emily stood and he sighed a little relieved. She was alright. It seemed Aspen got his idea because she looked to Bruce muttering something under his breath deeply
she gestured to the guards behind Jessie to let her keep walking and followed them slowly
" You don't need to do this " she called out, Jessie turned to her, her hands on the knife slipping she was shaking badly like a leaf.
" You turned them all against me, why did you have to come here" she roared
" It was all going as plan, I just needed a little more time and it would have been done " she roared, he winced her voice was not doing much for the headache he had.
Aspen railed at her then suddenly she changed her method
" You're right. We made them loose faith in you, who wouldn't. You killed your pack mate, poisoned the alpha of another pack and almost started what could have been a war, "
" Did you think we were just going to let you get away with it " she scoffed, her words were having the exact effect she wanted on Jessie who kept trembling like she was a leaf
Logan pretended to collapse falling short of the blade she held Aspen lunged tackling her to the floor,
It was a rough fight and the two struggled but soon someone roared through the room
" That's enough"it was Alpha Briar, Logan turned to her and felt her pain, she was in so much pain from the betrayal. She had to be but she was an Alpha first and so she swallowed her pride and pain and everything else and just looked to her . Emily rushed to his side grabbing his hand
" Are you ok " she asked looking him deep in his eyes , she was worried her brown bunched in a frown that he wanted to kiss it away but that was not appropriate
" Briar" Jessie murmured
" I didn't–" she started
" Don't" Alpha Briar said and she laughed
" Of course, you believe them over me"
" No Jessie, I believe what I saw over you" she mumbled
" What I want to know it why" she asked and Jessie laughed
" You don't deserve it now. He was going to make a golden paradise." She hissed
" All hail the Chosen lord" she muttered laughing. What the hell did she mean by that
" She has a knife" Bruce roared and he saw it but it was too late she had already slid it against her throat, blood sprayed over the floor
Alpha Briar swallowed deeply and looked to her beta
" Clean this up"
" Do you think she was working with--" Emily asked
" Finn, it's highly likely that she was " Alpha Briar replied as she looked away from them
" She's been killing people here" she muttered hoarsely looking gray as if reading our mind and she sighed
" You don't want to know but you'll have too I guess" she muttered and Logan sighed what was she going to say that could be worse than what Jessie had done
" Where were you guys " Logan asked Emily looking into her eyes as he cupped her cheek, he pressed a soft kiss as she answered
" In the library. We found it" she mumbled lowly, she was excited but he could see it hidden beneath layers of fear and worry
" Let's talk about that later, first let's get you fixed. You're bleeding" she huffed and he nodded
" Ok"
She followed him and got to work , Aspen was with Bruce and he seemed pissed
" Why did you leave without telling me "
" Well we didn't plan to be gone for long"
" Still not enough reason" to disappear like that
" I'm sorry" she said and he kissed her softly pulling away when he almost lost control.
" Let's go meet Alpha Briar" Aspen said coming to join them
" Is he alright" Emily asked about Bruce and she nodded
" He is fine just needs to be seated most of the time"
" Let's go, we'll talk about what you find when we're all seated "
They got into the room where Alpha Briar and her beta were seated
" Come in we have much to discuss. I heard you have something for me "
Aspen walked in and handed her the scroll
" Yes, it is this I'm supposing" she muttered handing it over, Briar looked at it and nodded
" Thank you,"
" Did you find what you needed " she asked
" Yes we did but now we have to ask "
" Why did she do this " Emily asked
" She's a sicko that's why"
" Aspen -" she hissed and Alpha Briar raised her hand
" She's right. Jessie was a sicko I would know this because I decided to read her book of horrors that detailed the awful things she had done " she replied and she winced
" What did it say, her book of horrors" he asked and she shrugged
" A lot of thing that proved she was crazy,that proved this Finn man was crazy as well "
" apparently Finn told her he could build a Golden world where we didn't have to be afraid of humans and live in fear of them and because of that he's been searching for a way to gain ultimate powers, he found a way to control the ghouls, probably blood magic " Sia mumbled and he paused
" Is that possible, is there something like blood magic" Emily asked and got a slight nod
" Yes, it's rare but there are those who practice it"
" So that's why she was killing people"
" Yes and I'm glad you came, if not she would have continued to kill people"
" That's why she almost killed Logan and Bruce, " she asked and he grabbed her hand
" I suspected it. What I don't understand is why she killed the maid, she wouldn't have told us anything, she could have been convinced to join them, the Golden paradise would have interested anyone" Logan mumbled and she sighed
" She was worried, as every fanatic is of the people that even they bring to the fold "
" She was worried that she would become more zealous that she would not be able to hide, because although she wanted her paradise, she did not want to give up on the life she had here "
" That sounds sadistic" Bruce muttered and she nodded
" That's because it is," Aspen hissed
" How many people did she kill" Logan asked
" Her records aren't specific but they seem to be over ten spaced over the years so that they were not found"
" she took people who were sick and weak, those we would not miss but mostly humans "
" How did she meet Finn"
" That' I don't know "
" I can't believe she even agreed to work with him"
Logan couldn't either but then when people deluded themselves getting rid of them was difficult.
" If only she was alive" Aspen muttered underneath her breath and he sighed
" We would not have gotten anything out of her"
" But we could have tried"
" What do we know about this man, the Finn"
" Up until a few months ago we thought he was just an average hunter, there were rumours of his kills in young packs, weak ones"
"then he arrived in Wolf city and turned it upside down."
" I'm still not sure who he is completely but one thing is for certain" he mumbled
" He's not human " Emily said.
