When Good Intentions Match

" Do what" his voice echoed around them and she responded almost the same time her voice hitching then evening out as if she was calming herself in her head. She likely was.

" We just need to stop whatever this is " he ignored her words even though he knew they were likely sound and he would pay for this mistake later, he kissed her softly enough to make it seem like a dream.
It always seemed like a dream, one he never wanted to wake from but had to.
He pulled away from her eyes closed, cheeks flushed pink with heat. She blinked and looked up at him, pulled back from him
" We'll be late let's go " she huffed and walked away at speed.
Logan sighed as Emily and Aspen moved into the dining room, like they had been the whole trip they remained glued to each other's side.
Emily was not actively trying not to fidget but it helped that there weren't many eyes on them tonight just the Alpha, her beta, two women the one who'd spoken out from earlier and a face he didn't remember.
Alpha Briar gave him a small smile and he nodded in return.
Alpha Briar was a powerful woman, he knew all about her she had become Alpha at a very young age a time when what would have been the normal thing for an alpha male child was abnormal for a girl who was too young, no one thought a girl could rule a pack,–in even her father had been skeptical of the offer but he had let it go.
The city of Seth had six packs, each of them had their individual Alpha, but to run matters in the city regarding how people were cared for, a council made of each alpha and their beta had been formed and everything was voted in by the council including the head alpha which right now was held by the elderly less senile alpha of the Black wolf pack.
She gestured to the table at the food
" Please eat"
"I have been accommodating have I not " she huffed and he sighed
" You have been very accommodating Alpha Briar " Bruce muttered already digging into his meal, and Aspen huffed
Logan tried to eat, he was weak from the fight though, so as the meal progressed, he made a sizeable dent in his plate.
But he tried not to pay too much attention to it since he wanted to know what was happening around him they couldn't afford to let their guard down.
" Jessie try not to stare at my guest for a whole hour. It must be upsetting my guest " Briar ordered, Jessie bowed
" Of course alpha" she muttered and he nodded
" Well then that gives us the peace to discuss what we need to," she said and Logan nodded as she turned to them
" So I have heard your proposal and the reasons you think are dire and I have come to a decision" she muttered
" I have spoken to my men and we have agreed to let you into our space here, and you can stay for only a week in that time you can find what you need. correct?" she asked and he nodded
" Good there is one condition" she muttered and he stilled looked at her and sighed
" Of course there is " Logan hissed shoving food into his mouth
" Fine, so what do you want" Bruce asked and Briar smiled. Logan would not admit he found it amusing
" I want you to find something for me," she asked and he nodded not the least bit surprised, everyone wanted something.
" What do you want" he drawled and Aspen sighed leaning into the table
"I want you to find me a scroll, it's ancient and contains the werewolf history of my pack," she said and he almost groaned what was it with this person and not having their things in order
" Very well, we will work on the searching" he huffed
" So we have a week to find what you need " Emily asked and received a sharp nod she sighed as she sipped her water and looked away from her
" When can we start " Emily asked rising from her seat, with a finality
" Woah settle we have time let's do this right," Aspen said grasping her hand.
A maid walked into the room and poured Logan another glass of wine before he refuse. He sighed lifting the glass he took a sip
" I hope you are comfortable with your rooms," the other friend Cassie asked and he nodded.
" They seem to be in order"
" Are you suggesting that our alpha plotted to harm you?" Jessie said and he sighed
" I did not say that"
" But–" she started
" That's enough Jess please," Alpha Briar said softly
She sighed
" Of course alpha "
" We're fine though the rooms are very good " Aspen mumbled
" What about you," she asked and Bruce nodded.
Logan felt weird. His head was heavy and dull almost like he was about to faint, he couldn't hear the words around him, they didn't seem to make sense.
He rose from his seat,
" I'll have to retire for the evening" he mumbled and was waved away even as he pushed all concern for him to the side
He went back to the room he'd been given leaning on the walls to get himself there, he walked into the room and sat down heavily on the chair. He was sweating and his heart racing he leaned back closing his eyes to get rest.
Then he heard it from the hall, the sound of his name of a woman her voice pitched and wailing like a banshee.

He wanted to tell them to shut the hell up before his head exploded, it felt like it would explode at any moment, what was wrong with him?
He slipped off the bed and sluggishly slumped to the open door then leaned against it as he noticed a gathering right in front of his door, and the screaming did not stop instead it was louder and more annoying, his hands trembling from the strain
" What the hell is going on" He gritted, they looked shocked and afraid.
The girl screaming squirmed away from him, shivering in the darkness, her face as pale as moonlight.

He saw Bruce, Aspen, and Emily staring at him horror on their face
Emily pulled away from the others who were keeping a distance from him, she looked at him and swallowed her voice thin,
" What have you done " Emily whispered.
He would have laughed if he could but that seemed so disrespectful and frankly he was the one who needed to ask that question.
He was about to say just as much when he looked at himself staring at the blood staining his shirt.
Blood, from where?
He turned to his bed and cursed at the sight that greeted him.
Laying half naked looking drained of blood that either he or the bed was wearing was a young female
" What's going on" Logan asked, his eyes blurry
" We should be asking you that "Alpha Briar muttered and he stiffened
" You can't think," he asked and she stayed silent
" How long will it take to determine what happened" she asked her beta
" Not too long "
" That's good, take care of it then, I'll be expecting a report" Logan hissed in pain his head banging like a drum
" Something is wrong with me " he croaked and Bruce caught his arm
" What the hell happened"
" Don't know, dizzy" he said then hot cooper spilled out of his lips and someone screamed again Bruce caught him as he was about to fall
" Wolfsbane" he muttered and collapsed into the poodle of his blood.
