The Reminiscing Past

" Alpha Zavi sent message" a guard mumbled and Briar nodded
" I know I've been told " she mumbled exhaustedly she was seconds from bursting it was just second after he had made her retract her statement which she had done but not with much grace.
Now she was forced to make plans with that idiot it was good news that he wanted to work with them exactly the kind we needed right now.
Briar strode ahead of them into the council room her mind running a mile a minute. She needed to make plans, there was the huge possibility that Zavi might not be willing to give troops out to help, he might have come all this way to say no, it was ridiculous to think of considering he could have just sent a message and let everything rest but he was a petty idiot so I could see him doing this instead.
It was pure chaos after that we gathered in the room most of the top men were already debating what to do, she entered the room, Sia followed behind her and the room seemed to notice them bit by bit and just like that the room was filled with silence.
Briar followed behind Sia who pulled out a chair for her. Logan nodded to her and she sighed, this was going to be a pain in her ass wasn't it. Once the door was shut they started with the meeting almost immediately
" We can't afford to put up resources in place that will not yield results.Finn has infiltrated our ranks and we have no idea how high it goes to" one man muttered
" To fight him we need an army that's something you're all forgetting" Briar sat straighter
"Alpha Zavi has come to give us his word,that he will join us if we can win isn't that right Alpha" she said
" Of course Briar, but can you promise me to win. I do not throw men into a burning building " he muttered and the men burst into grumbling which was annoying and frankly filled with nonsense the moment they opened their mouth.
She was tempted to shout at them to shut up but it was hard to do so especially since she didn't want to give alpha Zavi the satisfaction
" Women, is this what happens when you leave a woman in charge" one general in the assembly said underneath his breath and Briar groaned beneath her breath, of course it would go there the dumb idiots
" And just what do you mean by that" she hissed then she sighed deeply, massaging her forehead and Sia winced. Briar wanted to as well because the man in question didn't seem to value his life as much as she would have liked him to and man did she want to show him that she was a girl but she could break his neck like a twig.
alpha Zavi was silent but he kept watching her
" Exactly what do you want me to do here " he muttered
" We need you to fight with us " Logan mumbled and she hissed in annoyance, it's not as if he needed them to tell him anything. He knew what he was here for
" Well if that's the case I'm sure can arrange to go back home right now" he muttered and she recognized that condescending tone.
Briar rose from her seat extremely pissed and happy to get this over with because she was losing it frankly, she turned around to him
" Alpha Zavi, you're welcome" Briar said, she walked around the table over to the alpha where standing slightly behind him was a young male beta he seemed tired but well, she leaned into him and smiled
" You think, I'll beg you isn't it, you think you can fight this war" she hissed, he looked annoyed at being called out and she smiled
" I won't beg you, I won't ask again. You can walk out that door and I won't call you "
" If we win it will be our victory but if we fall then do you think you'll be safe. You or your pack."
" You'll fall each and every one of you"
" If you think you can fight this war, then Briar I applaud you to try" he mumbled and she huffed rising over him
" And if you think you are winning this with just your brute strength then I'm sorry but I have tell you it might be impossible to do. But you're welcome to try " she finished and he flushed a dull red.
Logan sighed rushing to them
" Alright that's enough from all of you" he hissed
" If this isn't about war strategy then I don't want to hear it. We can shelf it for another day"
" Alpha Briar please seat" he said gesturing to the empty desk that she had left behind and she nodded to him
" Thank you, " Briar smiled
" I apologize" she nodded going to sit , that was all she could do right now, all that she was meant to do but she was not going to take his insults lying down. She had enough of that from her father.
She looked Alpha Zavi in the eye
" I am a woman, ,I am an Alpha, and I don't give a damn what you think but I have men from my army to protect, men who have families to go back to." She muttered looking at all the generals gathered in the room
" I can easily make them stay back and we all burn, So I need you to pull your weight and tell me what it is we're facing right now.i need you to tell me if we can do this" she finished,the room was quiet no murmurs or side talks, her lips curled in a slight smile
" Now lets get down to business " she mumbled and the room turned erupted
" Well that went better than I expected" Sia said and she huffed
"Shut up and let us start" she muttered and Sia smiled
" So what do we know about this Finn man" Alpha Zavi asked and Briar hissed
" We found many books, one of them, listing from the Fressian culture four brothers Fynian, Teninis, Casper and Brennan, each ruling cardinal points" she answered skipping the details that were not needed

"he killed two of his brothers and we have no idea what he gained from it"she said, Alpha Zavi frowned she could see his head turning trying to figure it out
" You think this Fynian, is the Finn " he said unfazed and she nodded
" Yes " she said softly, Briar smiled
" You have my army then. When do we start" he said and Aspen nodded
" We will need more men, I assume that we have an army from you " he turned to Logan who nodded
"That is why we are here" he stated and Emily nodded
" We have sent message home, they should be here soon"
" You will have my men as well, " he replied looking at them and Alpha Zavi nodded as if pleased
" That's should give us the edge we need"
" Do you know when he will be here "
" We cannot tell that, all we can do is always be prepared"

Briar stared outside the windows, night had fallen very fast, the white sand glittered in the moon light, in all her years since she had been alpha she'd loved this spot it was a place that was quite removed from all the political struggles, a place that allowed her think, a place where she didn't feel like a failure.
But today those feelings were intruding in her solitude. She had made so many mistake with her life,with her work and now one of those mistakes was in her pack with her.
" I didn't think I would find you here" stiffening, Briar resisted the urge to turn , but she didn't have to wait long Zavi's sure footed gait brought him to her side, his hair was still black ,only tiny wisps of grey thread in between, his eyes a soft brown, a strong chin, he was still so handsome, but she knew how deadly he could be.
" You wouldn't be here if you weren't sure"she answered playing with her sleeves
" How have you been" he asked, she sighed turning to face him
" I doubt this is why you came here"
" Once upon a time you would have believed me if I said so"
" once upon a time we were close, we haven't been –"
" And that was not my fault" he gritted
" No it wasn't your choice. It was mine. " she asked exhaustedly leaning into her chair
" They would have taken my pack from me"
" So out love meant nothing" he growled
" She loved you Treston, and even though I knew you didn't, she loved you and I would not have given up the pack for you" she muttered
" Sera loved the idea of me " he grunted looking away
" But she loved all the same" she whispered, they fell silent staring outside
" I just wished you would have given me a chance" he murmured
" I did what was right for me and my pack " she, replied
" And I respect you for it"
" I'm sorry" she whispered and he smiled taking her hand in his and kissing her softly
" Do you think we will find her " she asked
" I will try "
" Do you think we can do this" she asked and he laughed looking at her brow arched
" This is me you're asking" she laughed
" Of course, you would say that. I trust you as much as I trust myself. At least in this " she mumbled
He laughed walking away to the small guitar that was leaning on the wall
" Do you still play" he asked and she sighed
" No not really. Not after her " she mumbled
" Do you?" She asked him, it was something that had brought them together, the joy of playing together those long nights
" Can you play for me " she asked as she leaned against her chair and he nodded taking it into his hands stroking the strings like a lover's breath.
She listened to him in the quiet transported back to the time when she was young and idealistic. When love could have taken over the world until reality had walked in.
Then she heard the hum and then the bang.. something was here.
