The Plan for the thief

The sound of the door knob jiggling had them all on defensive, if they were caught here it was done.
He looked around the room and found a tiny spot to hid , shit they needed a bigger space. He tilted his head to Logan who immediately dived there. While he was trying not to panic, the beta dragged his arm and pulled him into the corner, it was a small space and had them squashed against one another. He glanced into her face and grinned a little
" Sorry about that" he mumbled and she shrugged causing her to rub against his chest
" Not your fault " he nodded holding his breath.
Bruce stood in the corner of the room trying not to make too much noise and trying not to breathe as well considering how close there were to each another, when the door knob jiggled, he stilled even further.
Who the hell came to the morgue without a key or drunk because it had to be one of the two with the amount of noise the person was making. The door finally opened and someone came in.
Beta Sia's hand went to the blade on her waist, he grabbed her hand stilling it and she looked to him, blinking, he shook his head. She relaxed the arm but didn't let go of the blade and he let her.
" Come in advisor Jessie" he muttered stumbling. Sia's breath hitched and Bruce shared a quick look with Logan who nodded,
Jessie, the close confidant of alpha Briar.
The one who had been most adamant about letting them into the pack despite the fact that they had done nothing wrong. This was getting interesting fast.
They walked further into the room, the morgue master making enough noise to wake the dead as he moved.
" How long before her burial" Jessie asked and the man sighed
" Well she's a criminal case so it's taking longer than most " he replied and she groaned
" That wretched alpha killed her, so what is the hold up" she hissed and the man raised his hands in surrender as he leaned against the table
" I don't know, I just watch the bodies. Good girl she was Anya didn't deserve to die like that " he muttered
No one deserved to die like that Bruce thought and his feelings solidified.
He was going to find the person who had done this and make them pay.
Jessie walked over to the corpse running her hand over her hair as she said beneath her breath
" It was for a good cause"
" Huh" the morgue man said and she shook her head.
Logan hissed slightly behind him but said nothing else,
She straightened and looked around the room and for some reason she started to walk to the back where they were hidden, he gulped, Sia's hand on the knife tightened just as Jessie decided she'd seen enough
" Make sure she's safe, that alpha is almost dead so justice is being served anyway " She walked to the door,
" Don't let random people in" she said softly as the man followed behind her
" Course I won't. I'm not stupid " he mumbled as he locked the door behind them.
Once the door was locked, no jiggling keys, no sounds from the stairwells meaning they were well and truly gone.
He sighed in relief and look to see why she wasn't moving out of the space, the beta looked at him for a while and sighed
" You are quite handsome" she said before shoving out of the space.
He stood there like an idiot before, blinking and walking out.
Once were all out of the space , Logan looked to the beta Sia who stood there as if she had not just broken his brain, as she looked to the door her brow furrowed in a deep scowl,
" Is that normal here " he asked and she shook her head
" So I guess we have our first suspect then huh" He said looking to Logan who was back at the body
" You have not said what exactly you are looking for" he mumbled and got a slight nod he followed coming to stay by the body.
" Wolfsbane is powerful stuff, one of the only poison that can actually kill us" he whispered and Bruce nodded. He could attest for that. Back when humans had gotten wind of man in the business, they had been fond of coating bullets with the stuff. That had been the first wolf extinction. His grandfather had died in one of those attacks
" You think she's the one who poisoned you" he asked and he smiled
" Not just think it" he mumbled ,
" I know it" and Bruce sighed
This was bad, if their suspect was dead would they catch the person responsible for this
" How do you know this" the beta asked and Logan looked at the woman with a soft smile
" Years of study. Tell alpha Briar to leak my death to the pack. I want them at peace before I break the bubble. Tell them I'm dead but the group is looking for who is responsible and they are very close" he finished and Bruce laughed,that was very interesting and he was here for it all. The beta nodded and looked to the wall
" I believe you can find your way back" she asked and Bruce nodded
" I'll leave you then. Be careful" she mumbled beneath her breath and he nodded.
She muttered walking to the door which she opened before slipping back outside. He and Logan kept looking at the body and he sighed
" Are you sure about this " he asked, and he nodded
" We' re close to finding what we need " he muttered, they walked back to the wall, and He found the woman carved in the wall and pressed her in at the same spot where the beta had done the same thing. it didn't take long but the wall opened a back door revealed
" So what do we do next " he asked and Logan said
" We look for the things we need at the library"
" Get Aspen and Emily" he muttered and Bruce nodded in agreement. They really didn't have much time and this had delayed them for longer than was good.
The beta locked the door in place behind them and they walked through the corners of the room following the corridor down the hall just as they had come.
" What were you looking for on the girl's body " he asked and got a slight grin
" I was looking for traces of Wolfsbane on her"
" The poison always leaves a trace on the body of the user and someone killed by it " he mumbled
" And you found it " he muttered laughing
" I did"
They finally got back to the room where they found Emily and Aspen sitting
" Let's get to work" he hissed and they jumped turning to look at them
" You could give us some heads up" Aspen muttered as she rose from chair he grinned
" I like startling you guys " he mumbled . He wanted to kiss her but that was too much both for her and him. Not when he had feelings that she didn't share and likely never would
" What did you guys find" Emily asked looking at them, she looked tired, like she needed a couple of hours of sleep. He could relate but they didn't have time. She walked to Logan holding his arm and he kissed her hair
It seemed that despite their previous arguments they had formed a small truce that even themselves had not noticed, he wasn't going to mention it to them. He looked to Aspen who was watching them to and gave him a slight smile before looking away from him
" We couldn't find the girl who poisoned me because she is the dead girl"

" But if she's dead that means she was ordered to do it " Aspen hissed
" And we have a suspect" Logan soothed her and she nodded
" Now we go to the library"
" We locked the door, we have two hours before someone comes to check "Aspen said and he nodded
" Then let's get moving" He grabbed a light and turned to Emily and Aspen handing it to them
" We'll need it " he said and Emily nodded but Aspen rolled her eyes, Logan looked to her
" Stay here between us for the time being, until you have learned the cave movement " he mumbled and Aspen huffed
" Yes alpha –" Logan shot her a look and she nodded
"I'm fine with it " she mumbled and looked away from him, walking to the wall. Bruce pressed his hand in the same Fressian statue
" Does anyone find it curious that both packs use the same symbols " Emily said and Aspen nodded
" I noticed it too, found it the first time but maybe we'll see something when we actually get to the library itself "
They all entered into the wall and closed it behind them.
" This place is very quiet" Emily muttered and Bruce smiled
" Hold Logan's hand, he eats the dark for breakfast" he mumbled and they laughed.
" That's not funny" Emily hissed
They all stopped, they followed the path just like they had been led, it was long and as Emily said quiet.
" Where is that" she asked as they got to the first branch
" The morgue" Logan replied and Aspen nodded
" The library is this way" he pointed to the room ahead of them as they took the straight road into the room that was definitely not the library. But the musty smell told him there were in the right place now. They followed the rooms corridors and it was a very spacious room.
" I think we've found it " Emily muttered, she was already far ahead, unlike the other room, the library was lit within an inch of it walls.
They entered the room and he was greeted with the musty smell of books which was on par for the libraries. He wrinkled his noses
" You really hate books" Logan mumbled trying not to laugh and he frowned
" I have a sensitive nose " Bruce muttered and they laughed
" Ok fine. Can we get to the job that brought us here " he grumbled
" Go with Aspen and like we agreed, you look for what Alpha Briar wants, the scroll with werewolf history"
" Logan and I will look for more information on Finn" Emily said softly and they nodded, he hid his smile pulling on his partners arm.
" Let go of my arm" she grunted and he grinned, letting her go
"So what do you think it looks like" he asked and she sighed
" I'm not sure an old scroll" she hissed and he laughed
" At least this library is more organized" he said softly, she looked around and sighed
" That's true"
They went to work!
