The War Begins

Sleep was a relative term, Emily had been awake for hours now, Logan lay by her side and she doubted he was asleep either.
The meeting from earlier was sill playing in both their minds ,she knew that the time had come the time for battle and blood. The emptiness in the pit of her stomach though was not something she could ignore any longer. She turned to him the coarse material of her jeans rubbing against the sheets
" What do you think of Alpha Zavi and Briar " she asked they seemed there have been a history between them that she didn't understand. It had been subtle but she had noticed it
" I have no idea what you're talking about "
" You can't be serious" she huffed, typical that he had not caught that. It was almost comical really
She looked to him
" I'm talking about the disagreement they were having especially when they were clearly goading each other" she mumbled and he shrugged
" I sensed that but it wasn't something I was watching" he muttered and she hummed. Then they heard the crash loud enough to jerk them out of bed , she grabbed the knife by her bedside and gripped tightly nodding to him as they both stood striding to the door. They opened it to chaos, men running up and down corridors their voices loud and drowning out anything she would have wanted to say at the moment. They saw Aspen and Bruce at the end of the hall and he seemed to be a bit pale but his eyes shone with determination or was that just his wolf.
We joined them at the hallway and she looked to Aspen who nodded her head
" They are here "
" Then it's time. Be careful" she mumbled a little worried as they rushed outside
There was a rush of wind and they were attacked by ghouls immediately, they moved with astonishing speed far better than what was familiar,there was a crush of bodies as werewolves slashed at ghouls and they fought back with teeth and claws.
Logan twirled that knife in his hand and jabbed them with ease that was frightening, the crush of bodies, the smell of blood and magic burnt flesh filled her nostrils making me nauseous. Logan roared and there was an answering roar from the field as he threw himself into the fight
She wasn't sure what had happened here but Finn had created an army of what seemed like infallible beasts and although they slumped to their feet at every blow some werewolves fell for every two of them that was struck ,they were far resilient.
Emily slashed and stabbed them quick and steady black blood spilling from their guts, one of the creature slashed at her back and Emily twisted away falling slightly.
" Shit " Logan cursed running towards her, he reached her shoving his hand into it's gut and drawing it out immediately letting guts splatter to the floor and picking her up
" Focus" he growled, she huffed
" I am focused and you know it, now get off my back " she roared and he pulled away
The attack to the pack seemed to have started at the rear of the pack where the children and the weak would have been just as we had suspected and now it was going mostly as we thought it would go.
Finn was looking to undermine us by attacking the main population.
Emily gulped at the fear in her gut, although we had information about this man it still felt like it was not enough. He was a gods son but was that all? And if it wasn't all then what was he.
" stay by me" Logan huffed quickly she knew his heart was racing faster than a beaten drum, she could see it with each breathe.
They stood back to back trying not leave each other , the knife in her hand extended and Logan claws at max, they struck and the ghouls fell all the time though their arms were stretched out to scratch at them as well.
Then there was a scream, she turned and found a man climbing over a partly shifted wolf biting at him. The wolf growled and tried to shove it off and someone shouted
" The ghouls are bi.." his voice cut out as another ghoul jumped into him and bit him
Emily huffed struggling to regain my breathe
" They're biting people" she muttered as Bruce dropped one of the ghouls that had slipped past her, her grip tightened forming a fist over the blade
" They are infecting people" Logan snapped again and Aspen hissed
" Shit"
" How do we get them to be watchful" she
" We need to concentrate on the battle" Emily muttered. They couldn't afford to let themselves get distracted.
Emily wasn't going to let them get distracted by her either .
"We have to find where Finn is going, where he is . He has to be here somewhere watching" Emily said and Bruce frowned
Emily focused her mind and let the supposed sense, she was supposed to have work through her. She knew the scent she was looking for
She glanced around swinging to where the bodies of werewolves had fallen to the fathers, sons that were all dead for some stupid man's ambition.
Emily glanced around chaos searching for familiar face, she sniffed at it and him.
She spotted him a few feet away , dark curly hair, and for the instant of a moment a flash of blue eyes the woman who had attacked them in the first time they got here
" Did you see that " Emily asked Aspen and she winced
" Too busy darling,see what" she asked .
Emily frowned
" Finn is here and he has the woman with him" She stumbled and Logan gripped her arm
" Let's follow" Emily mumbled, they all raced past the men and the ghouls struggling not to be hit. They were joined by Beta Sia who looked breathless and a little bit tired
" What's going on" Logan asked
" We're getting overrun on the east side, but my men have the west border under control" she hissed out if breathe. Emily gulped
" We found Finn, we're going after him" she hissed and got a sharp nod
"Go we'll cover you " Sia said, growling beneath her breath,
Emily nodded and they all rushed into the fray, Logan met her gaze and she nodded to where she had seen them pass through he nodded briskly
"I'll cover you" and proceeded to do just that.
Emily just had to get close enough to wherever they were and assess the situation to know exactly what to do to put this to an end.
The more information they could find on him the better in fact.
" How close are we" Aspen asked and she shrugged
" Close" she followed behind Logan who was cutting down the ghouls his hands stained with black blood while Bruce took the rear and the sounds of war in the background had me stiffening.
We needed to find him immediately, there was a loud shout behind and when she looked she saw people rushing across the clearing, more ghouls and this time werewolves in their mix. They were going to be outrun.


" Bingo" Matilda hissed and Emily sighed
" Can you wound him " Logan asked breath heavy
" If Emily can get close enough" Emily muttered
" I'm just not sure what the plan is to even stop them" Emily replied.
He took a deep breath
" Then let's get you there"
Emily saw them first and stopped, it was a rush of bodies pushing and pullings in between them and as the ghoul, Emily slipped past the fallen ghouls that edged closer to them , Aspen and Bruce in sync cutting through them.
" Well,well,well, what do we have here" He whispered, for the first time she was seeing him this close, he looked normal, simple blond hair and fair brown eyes that shone across the distance, was he a werewolf
" It seems you have been a very naughty girl" he mumbled coming into the light and away from the trees everyone around her stiffened all defensive, the dark cloud was disappearing , Bruce swore
" We're screwed " he murmured, and she had to admit he was right. Behind Finn was a large crowd of ghouls, there was no getting close to him.
" Super screwed" Aspen muttered
" You look a lot older" he said ignoring their conversation
" I haven't been your little girl in a long time" she answered, he smiled sweetly, if it could be called that
"Of course. I saw what you did to my Tammy very grown up"
" I doubt praising me is why you're here" she said and he laughed
" Join me. It's not too late you know, your father may have made the wrong choice but you still have a chance "
" You killed innocent people" she said remembering the night that had started this moment had probably begun
" I made choices, and now it's your turn will you join me and claim this land and all others or will you put up futile resistance with the people who would rather you were dead" he mumbled and Emily looked to him
" No matter what your cause is with killing, you crossed a line and that is not a cause I can join" she muttered
" We're with you. Till the end " Logan whispered reaching for her hand, she clasped his
" What he said " Aspen grunted fingers flexing , Bruce said nothing just smiled slightly. She turned to Finn, and replied
" I don't think I will join you that is "
" Let's see how that works for you then" he muttered and flicked a finger to Tammy who walked to them a slight grin on her face
" You should have joined our Lord when he called for you" she grinned poised to attack and Emily scoffed
"We both know that he is no Lord" She roared raising her blade as she attacked, she slide away from the blade and Tammy laughed
" Nice try little one" she spat striding towards her and Emily swung at her in return her blade slashing her skin , her hand raise and she slapped her
Emily crashed to the floor heaving, as she scrambled backwards. She was not dying here today she hissed ,she kicked her in the knee, she grunted falling to her knee and she stared at her with rage.
" I'll enjoy chopping your head off your body bitch" she roared and lunged with her knife toward Emily's chest.
