Chapter 45: I WAS IN LOVE WITH IT

Ellen Evans

Sarah went up to Lydia's father and greeted him. The man greeted her with a friendly smile. It seemed like the two had a cordial relationship with each other.

"Long time no see lassie," he said to her as he offered his palm to her. She took it and then respectfully shook it.

Lydia wiped away her tears with the back of her palms behind her. As if feeling that that was not enough, she left, to the bathroom i guess, to fix her face.

"The job keeps me away, like your daughter from me," she joked. He laughed heartily at her words.

"It sure does, but it is nice to have you back," he informed her.

"Thank you sir." Then they disengaged palms and Sarah turned away, supposedly back to Lydia who was not there anymore.
Her eyes went around quickly.

"She went to clean up her face," Karen said to her. "Go after her would you," she encouraged her.

Sarah nodded and went off in the direction that Karen had given her.

Every one began to sit and so did I, with Dylan on the two seater that he had guided me to.

Lydia's father began to gossip all about the two love birds to his wife, Karen the moment that Sarah disappeared behind the silver lined curtains.

Karen smiled softly as she listened to him, taking a seat beside him.

"Lydia and her mate are always so and so," Dylan whispered to me.

"That is my sister!" Simon said to him, and then added, "though I agree with you." I have never seen such a word twist before. The both of them laughed at something that silly and I began to wonder just how old they really were.

"I knew you would."

"She is weird, and now she has a weird mate. So they both have a weird bond," he said. "But, they be the sweetest loving couple I have eve seen and I do not know if it is because they are both women and they can easily understand each other. I am like howww! How on earth do they go so well with each other?!" He complained  biyterly to the both of us. I giggled softly at the obvious frustration in his voice. "My mate gives me a headache that even aspirin can not take away!" He lamented.

"I am really sorry bro," Dylan consoled him in what i supposed was a very mucking voice. Oh! I see what he was doing there. He was rubbing salt and pepper into the already bleeding wound.

How not nice!

"Dylan!" I scolded him.

"Could be you soon," Simon taunted my mate with a pained expression.

"Never. Ellen is a sweet soul, you can tell by just looking at her," he taunted Simon back by flaunting me.

I smiled at the compliment.

"And Prisca is not?" He asked. So his mate's name was Prisca?

I wondered what she looked like.

Was she tall like him? Or talkative like him? Or funny like him?

"I did not say nothing about Prisca man. You are the one that is dragging her into this you know?" Dylan said.

"Whatever, leave me alone," he snapped and looked away. Then as if he remembered something, he turned back to my mate and told him, "And I am definitely going to tell Lydia all what you said before about her," he threatened.

"Go ahead, but I do not think she would appreciate you calling her mate weird," Dylan threatened back.

They were arguing like preschoolers on their first day of school.

"Whatever," Simon said to him in utter resignation.

"Do not mind Simon and I, that is how we always are. He likes talking," he whispered into my ears.

I noticed.

"Lydia and her mate are not back yet?" I pointed out to him. He shrugged.

"They must be somewhere kissing and making up," he whispered again. That comment had be going a different color, blood rushing to my cheeks.

Seriously?

"Or maybe she took her mate to the garden ?" I attempted to defend her. Dylan shook his head while he stared at me with an expression that said: Poor you, you do not know what you are saying.

"Lydia doe not like flowers."

Oh! Oh!

"She does not? But she wanted to take me to see the garden just earlier," I told him with a confused expression.

"Well, she does not, never had. If she ever asks you to follow her to a garden, run away from her, run far away."

I laughed so hard at that.

"Oh!"

"Yes, run, because that would mean that she has an ulterior motive towards you. Mayhap she would kill you and bury you amongst the flowers," he joked in a very small voice.

I laughed again.

Lydia did not look like she could kill am insect talk more of a human being.

But now, I knew something.

So that was why my mate had not wanted her to take me to the garden?

"Well, maybe it is a good thing then that I am allergic to flowers," I said to him. He looked at me with a surprised expression.

Then, "Really?" He asked.

I nodded a reply.

"Yes I am," I added.

"It is I guess," he said to me with a warm smile. I smiled back.

Simon hissed softly under his breath and stood to his feet.

"He is jealous," Dylan whispered into my ears at Simon's actions.

I struggled to not laugh at his words, but I did anyways.

Simon turned away from us.

"Drake, I wanted to show you my car brakes. You will see them now?" He asked Drake who was standing several feet away from us, enjoying a glass of Karen's cool home made drink.

"After this glass," Drake said.

"Come on man, the drink is not going no where. We will be back in a jiffy," he emphasized going up to Drake who looked between him and the glass of drink.

I understood his ongoing struggle.

That drink was heaven in liquid form, I would not give it up either.

"You know that place that you have been wanting to go?" Simon began. Drake nodded. "I will take you there," he bargained. Drake thought about it for a moment.

"You will take me there?" Simon nodded. "Let us go check it out." He said placing his glass on a table.

They walked out of the house.

"Is Drake always quiet?" I asked Dylan who nodded.

"My beta is not the talking kind of person. He is the perfect example of actions speak louder than words. It is just in his case he does not have any words."

I laughed again.

"Dylan!"

"I am sorry. Shall I get you another glass of drink?" He asked. I had already finished my last one.

I nodded. "Thank you." He stood and went to get me another one. Karen and her husband were chatting quietly, lost in their own little world.

Dylan returned with my drink. I took it and thanked him. He had also brought one for himself.

He took a seat.

I tasted the drink.

I was in love with it.

It was just the way I was gradually falling in love with my new life.
