Chapter 63: THE IMPERIAL WEDDING
Elena Evans
It was the imperial wedding.
My wedding day had finally arrived.
I woke up that morning feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day.
Finally, Sebastian was going to be mine, all mine.
My twin sister, that Ellen was finally out of the picture, although I admit to being the one who brought her into this and almost ruined everything I had planned.
The door to my bedroom opened without a knock and there stood my brother, Zedd. He looked cranky and tired. I understood why he looked so. He had shouldered most of the wedding preparations alongside my mate, his Beta and my father.
"Good morning, Zedd," I greeted him enthusiastically. He smiled and took that as a cue to come into the room.
"Good morning sleepy head. The wedding preparation team is here."
"Team?"
"Yeah, the alpha hired a trained team of makeup artist and stuff. Come on, get your lazy ass up and out of bed. You have a big day ahead of you."
"I know."
"Now come on," he said as he lent me a hand out of bed. "They are setting up in the spare room. Your wedding dress and other things are here too." I wore my home slippers and followed him out.
My father was in the hallway directing some workers who were moving lights and some things in packaged cartons.
"Father!" I greeted. I had not seen much of him these past few weeks. I was still amazed at how every member of my family had quickly carried on with their life as of nothing had happened, as if Ellen had not gone missing.
"Elena," he replied coming to me. He embraced me. "Everything will go well, Zedd and I made sure of that."
"Yes father."
"Now go on. You have barely three hours to get ready for the wedding." I nodded and followed as he nudged me towards Zedd who brought me I to a room full of people wearing matching Tees. I assumed that they were the team that Zedd was talking about.
"Hi!" A vibrant lady said coming up to me with a bright smile. "Here comes the bride. Come let's make you pretty!" She exclaimed.
"Okay," I drawled with a smile.
"I will leave her with you then," Zedd said to her. Then, "Be good," he said to me and squeezed my shoulders.
Then I was whirled into a chair.
The lady, her name was Tara. She was a pro with a brush. In no time, I was looking beautiful.
But she did not let me fawn over myself before the hair stylist took over from her.
When they were done, they helped me into my wedding dress and into another accessories.
Then, I was guided to the movable floor lenght mirror.
I was awed.
My reflection stared back at me and I could not believe the transformation in the mirror.
I stared at myself in the mirror. The wedding dress that Sebastian had chosen for me was indeed perfect.
"You are the most beautiful bride I have seen," my brother's voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Zedd," I said turning to him.
"May your marriage be blessed. I wish you and Sebastian a happy life," he said coming to take my hands in his.
"Thank you."
"It is time to go. Father is waiting for you. He will walk you down the aisle," he informed me.
Someone brought my bouquet. It was made of fresh roses. Zed received them and handed them over to me. I told them, avoiding the stem of the rose bouquet. But the stem had been rid of all thorns, probably Sebastian's handwork.
I smiled at such thoughtfulness.
"Come, let's go," he said and led me away.
The car with my father was waiting outside our home. Zedd helped me into the car and bid me farewell.
The drive to the palace was quiet, my father and I saying nothing at all to each other.
The wedding had begun when we got there. At the right cue, my father helped me out of the car and helped me into the hall.
The hall was filled with guests. It was the first thing that I noticed. The whole of Harné pack was there to celebrate with us.
My mate, Sebastian was waiting for me at the end of the aisle, looking so wonderfully handsome in a suit.
He smiled at me.
As the instrument started playing my favorite song, the queue to start my walk, my father proceeded to walk me down the aisle.
As we got to the altar, my father handed me over to my mate who received me.
He gently took my hand in his, a reassuring gesture that made me feel calm and secure alongside the broad smile he gave me. He was careful not to harm my bouquet.
"Elena," he said my name reassuringly. I smiled under my transparent veil.
Elena, dressed in a stunning white gown, looked radiant as she walked down the aisle towards Sebastian, who stood waiting for her with a look of pure love and adoration in his eyes.
Then, we faced the officiating priest who proceeded to direct us into taking our wedding vows.
As he made his vows to me, I felt the emotions in them. They were heartfelt, promising a future filled with love, understanding, and support. The words felt surreal yet comforting, sealing our bond in front of our loved ones.
And when it was my turn, I looked into his eyes as I exchanged my vows with him while promising to love and cherish him for eternity.
Then it was time to exchange rings.
As Sebastian took the ring from the ring bearer, a sense of unity washed over me. The shiny metal was an assurance that he was all mine, solidifying our commitment to each other.
He held my gaze as he slid the gold ring onto my finger.
"I can't believe this day is finally here," I whispered to him as I slid his ring onto his fingers.
"I've been waiting for this moment for so long," he whispered back to me with a happy grin. His voice was filled with many emotions. "I love you more than words can express."
"I love you too Sebastian."
"I now pronounce you husband and wife, “the officiating priest told us with a smile. "You may now kiss your mate."
Sebastian raised my veil and stared at me for a second or two before he leaned in and kissed me deeply, sealing our union with the promise of forever.
The cheers and applause of our guests surrounded us, creating a symphony of happiness and celebration.
Amid the festivities, I couldn't help but reflect on the journey that led us to this moment.
From the first time we had met and discovered we were mates. I remembered the raw joy in his eyes as he had asked me which twin I was.
I remembered the clashes because of Ellen. I remembered our first night together.
I was happy that everything had later worked out my way.
And when he released me from his embrace and said, "You are now mine," I was sure I blushed red."
After the first part, people came to congratulate us as we took pictures with family and friends.
