Chapter 75: WHO IS THE FATHER?
Alpha Dylan's POV
Outside the hospital room, I turned away from the door and faced Doctor Thompson. He smiled at me as he began to speak concerning her.
"I am suspecting that all these might not be accumulated stress from the wedding but rather something different. But, I will need the rest of the results to confirm it all. I would not burden you with my suspicion before that lest you be disappointed," he said to me with a smile.
"I understand," I told him. "Take your time doctor."
He nodded and then he said, "Let me go pick them up from the lab. I will be back in a jiffy."
"Alright." I watched him until he turned and disappeared down another corridor.
I wondered what was wrong with Ellen.
But most of all, I had an uneasy feeling, something that had not gone away since those three men had come looking for her.
I still wondered what on earth they wanted with my soon to be Luna?
The sound of something falling inside the room, specifically metal clanking unto the tiled floor, called me out of my train of thoughts.
I rushed into the room to see what was going on. My eyes fell unto her fragile form sprawled out in an awkward position on the floor. She must have fallen while trying to leave the bed.
"Ellen." I hurried to her side to assist her to her feet. She turned to me, her eyes clouded with fear.
"Dylan, where were you?"
"I was just outside waiting for the doctor. He took some blood samples and went to get some tests done. I did not want to disturb you with our noise."
"I am fine Dylan," she said to me. "I only just fainted maybe because I was tired from all of the stress of planning the wedding. "I am good. Let us go home, those men are waiting."
"You passed out Ellen. You were out for approximately an hour. Let the doctor take care of you my love. The three of them whosoever they may be can wait," I told her as I guided her onto the bed and adjusted her head position.
"What did they tell you?"
I heard the fear creep into her voice and saw the worried look on her face. It looked like she was scared.
She was afraid of them saying something to me.
Was Ellen hiding something from me? Like the fact that she had a brother?
Did I believe that? The words of those three men?
But what else could she be hiding from me?
"They did not say anything, refusing to speak till you were there. Who are they? Why did their presence upset you so much that you fainted?" I raised a brow at her when she hesitated to speak.
Was I right?
Was she keeping a secret?
"Dylan?" she said, calling me out of my train of thoughts. "What is the problem? My love, you can tell me anything you know?" I asked her. She nodded gently.
"I am from the Harné pack. And I have parents and siblings. I lied when I told you that I did not have one Dylan."
I was right!
So those three men were right too about that?
They weren't imposters.
"There must have been a reason for that, my love . You would not just do that, that I know. That reason, what was it?" I inquired.
She turned away from me, finding it hard to speak. I wondered what on earth the reason was that her face had quickly contorted in pain.
"Talk to me baby, tell me everything," I urged her.
"The reason I never told you was because I-" Doctor Thompson's entrance interrupted her. I turned to look at the man. He must be back with the test results.
He began to speak with Ellen while my mind wandered to a thousand possibilities that would have made Ellen lie that she did not have a family.
Did they not treat her well?
Had they disowned her and were now back for her? Begging?
I studied my mate, her eyes dilating in what was most likely fear. I turned to the doctor, catching his last sentence.
"There is something that we need to discuss."
"What is it?" Ellen whispered in fear.
"What is wrong with her doctor?" I asked as he waved an envelope.
Had he said something important concerning the envelope?
I had not been paying attention.
"You will know soon," he said. My mate's palms began to quiver.
"Ellen, I am here. You are safe,"I assured her as I planted a kiss on her palm.
"Congratulations Alpha and soon to be Luna. You are expecting a baby. Ellen here is pregnant."
"Oh my! Ellen, we are expecting!" I exclaimed happily.
My mind jubilated.
So that was the reason for the faint, exhaustion from pregnancy?
This was good news, the very best that I had received today.
It was the most perfect wedding present for me.
"How far along is she doctor?"
"Oh, she is about five weeks pregnant, over a month," he said, stretching the envelope towards me.
Five weeks?
I remembered meeting Ellen exactly three weeks ago at my aunt's home.
"Five weeks? How on earth is that possible? We have only been together for three weeks Ellen. So tell me?" I asked her as a new realization dawned on me.
Was this the secret that she could not tell me?
Was she pregnant for another man?
Had she tried to baby trap me?
Pain washed over my being perfectly cuckolded by my mate. I had trusted her. My heart broke into millions of pieces as I processed the fact that not only had she lied to me, she had tried to cheat me into marrying her while she was carrying someone else's child
"I...I do not know," was her only answer as she began to cry.
"What do you mean by you do not know? Ellen, we have been together for three weeks and you have never mentioned that you were pregnant, for another man! Look at me and speak to me!" I bellowed as my wolf roared to the surface, pained at being betrayed by his mate.
She shook with her tears and refused to look at me. I suspected it was because she was guilty as charged.
"I do not know Dylan. I swear it. I am only finding out about this pregnancy now," she lied.
So, she expected me to believe that stupid lie?
What on earth did she take me for?
"Who is the father of the bastard?" I asked angrily. Silence was her only answer to my question.
Wait, don't tell me that she did not know the father of that child that was growing in her womb?
I had not cared that she was no virgin when we first mated.
But I cared that she was that promiscuous!
"Answer me now Ellen! I asked you a question Ellen, who is that bastard's father?!" I screamed furiously. My rage was threatening to blind me.
"It is the man who came for me, Alpha Sebastian "
Her revelation left me utterly shocked and completely betrayed.
