Chapter 69: MY PAST AND PRESENT COLLIDED
Ellen Evans POV
After admiring myself in the mirror for a while and basking in the praises that Martha and the designer of the dress, Susan -who had come in sometime later had given me, I allowed Martha take photos of me in it with my phone and send them to my mate.
He texted me right back complimenting me and telling me how good the assemble was. Then he promised to take the dress off with care tomorrow night.
I thanked Susan and her team for the beautiful assemble. And after I had taken the dress off and asked for it to be sent over to the palace, I left with Martha, our next stop being the cake shop.
The cake shop was handled by a tall jovial man named Samuel. He was quite acquainted with my mate. He had given me various samples of cake slices on my first visit. I had tasted all of them and picked the mixed strawberry and almond flavour for my wedding cake.
I told him that I wanted a three step cake with two extra layers on the side and I wanted the covering half naked. He had taken on the job and sent me off with huge slices of the mixed strawberry and almond flavour to snack on.
As we got into the cake shop, the receptionist received us with a smile and sent us up to the delivery room to take a look at our order which she said was ready.
I was thrilled the moment I set eyes on the three tiered cake with two extra layers on the side. The cake was stunning, and the tiers and floral designs was mesmerizing. Samuel had really out done himself to create such a masterpiece. I praised him for a job well done and pointed out a few things I wanted to be put in place
As we wrapped up on the final details, my phone vibrated in my purse. I open it and checked the caller ID. My mate's name flashed across the screen. I grinned broadly as I took the call.
"Hey, beautiful," he said in that familiar voice that warmed my heart. I ignored the fluttering feeling in my chest and proceeded to reply to him.
"Hey, handsome," I said to him in a timid whisper. He chuckled at my voice.
"How is your day going?" he asked. "Hope you are satisfied with how everything is going?"
"Everything is just in perfect order Dylan," I said. Then I recalled something. "Oh! I haven't shown you the cake yet. Let me quickly take a picture." I took a few and sent them to him.
"Oh! Samuel did great. The cake design is marvelous," he drawled. I guessed that he was impressed. "Are you done at the cake shop?" He asked.
"No, not yet. I just need to finalize some of the details with Samuel. I would like more flowers on this left part and a few other things," was my reply.
"Oh, I see. But is this your last stop? I miss you," he confessed. It was my turn to laugh at his words.
"No it is not. I still need to make a quick stop at the catering establishment. But it will not take long, I promise you." It was said in assurance. "And I can't wait to get hone and tell you about everything.
"I can't wait to make you mine," he promised in a soft seductive whisper. His voice butterflies fluttering rapidly inside of my stomach.
I was sure that I blushed scarlet, my cheeks flushing. "I can't wait either," I added in a shy whisper. He made a sound of amusement at my voice.
"Come home soon," he told me.
"I will. And I love you, Dylan." There was a pause and I knew that he was smiling foolishly like a teenage boy who had just gotten accepted by his crush.
"I love you," he said to me and then he kept call, our sweet conversation ending with the subtle promises of forever, leaving me quite breathless at the moment.
We were soon finished with Samuel and soon left his cake shop. As we walked, my stomach growled softly. I realized then that more than half of the day had gone by and I had eaten nothing at all.
I had been too full with excitement to have breakfast in the morning. So I had forfeited what seemed like a feat that time and headed out with Martha. But now after the activities of the day, my body was tired and demanded energy from my stomach which was requesting for food.
I dragged Martha to a nearby coffee shop for a break. Our stop at the catering establishment would have to wait. As we took a break at a cozy coffee shop, the heavenly aroma of coffee and cream filled the air. We ordered a cup of coffee latte each and sat to enjoy it
As we sipped our lattes peacefully, my phone rang again, vibrating in my purse which was on top of the table. I brought the mobile out of my purse and took the call as the caller was none other than my clingy mate. He must want to ask me to quickly come home again.
"Baby, come home," he said to me the moment I took the call. "Everything should wait. I need you here this instant."
I smiled, my heart skipping a beat. "Do not worry. I am on my way." He kept the call instantly. I returned the phone into my purse and instantly abandoned my latte, dragging Martha who wanted to at least finish her own latte to the car.
We headed home.
Upon our arrival at the palace, my heart skipped another beat in anticipation of seeing my mate. As i rushed into the throne room, the three unexpected visitors sitting calmly brought me to a halt as a choking feeling rose inside of me.
My chest tightened as I stared at the last that I had so wanted to leave behind.
Those three visitors, it was Alpha Sebastian, his Beta and my brother, Zedd and the Gamma, Miller.
My heart constricted as my vision blurred. I held my chest with my hands as oxygen eluded me. I struggled to breath just as I felt myself, falling, slowly to the ground.
"Ellen!" I heard someone, maybe Martha scream my name.
My world was shattering. I could not help it, even as my past and present collided.
Memories flooded my mind – the pain, the fear, the betrayal.
My mate caught me though before I could hit the floor, holding me in his arms.
"Ellen," he said my name. I did not actually hear him, I couldn't but I saw him mouth my name through me blurred vision. His worried face flashed before my eyes, his eyes filled with accusation.
And then, everything went black and I temporarily seized to exist.
