Chapter 77: HE WANTED ELLEN.
Alpha Dylan's POV
At my words, surprise flickered through their eyes as they all stared at each other.
Alpha Sebastian looked the most surprised as he took a step closer to me, probably to look at me with scrutiny for that.
"You didn't know? And you were going to marry her?" Alpha Sebastian asked me with raised brows.
"I just found out. And it is definitely none of your business if I did or did not do so! I would have married her anyway!" I snapped at the inconsiderate man.
Would I?
It was nice to deceive myself and to pretend that everything had not gone wrong in the first place. But Ellen was still my mate and I had to defend her where necessary.
I had to do that no matter her crime.
She was mine now, under my protection. No one could disdain her except for me.
"I asked you why my mate was pregnant for you. And nothing else."
"You should have asked her," he said to me with a voice that dripped dangerously with nonchalant sarcasm. I flew into a rage as I stepped closer to him, reaching for him.
"You bastard! Tell me!" I screamed at him, grabbing him by the neck in a total death grip. The gamma growled at my action, ready to pounce.
Zedd was immediately beside the both of us, panicking, trying to get us back on track, the track of peace and not of violence.
I did not think I wanted to get back on the pack of peace with this stupid scoundrel who had impregnated my mate!
What if he had raped her? A certain realization dawned on me.
I held him all the more tighter with all the anger and fury.
"It was a mistake!" Zedd said to me as he attempted to loosen my hands in Sebastian. I let it go as I turned to him to find out what had happened. But the Alpha beat him to it.
"It was no mistake!" I turned to stare at him. "Your conniving evil mate sedated her twin sister and appeared at our date in her place!" He snapped at me in anger.
"And?" I demanded, more curious than I had ever been in my entire twenty-nine years of life.
"Well, take note that she went through extra time for this, and took the extra mile to look just like her twin. And then she had the audacity to drug me and then climb into my bed like the calculating slut that she is!"
My hands had a mind of its own. They moved on their own accord, across his left cheek in a powerful slap.
No one dared to call my mate a slut, even if she was one.
Alpha Sebastian's eyes blazed in surprise and then fury as he looked like he wanted to retaliate.
"This is my pack Mr. Condescending Arrogance. Ellen in question is my mate and you will treat her with all of the respect that she deserves because of that!" I bellowed furiously as my eyes went through the three of them, daring any to follow in his footsteps and be the receiver of my wrath. "And remember that this is my pack," I added as a warning or maybe even a threat to them.
"Oh!" Alpha Sebastian said with an evil smirk. "Look who is in denial. I bet she did not tell you about her pregnancy and tried to pin it on you. That is just how she is! Open your eyes to that fact!"
His words hurt me, more than even Ellen's has because I knew that he was telling the truth.
My mate was a bad person.
"You will not speak of her in that manner!" I defended her when my inner will was failing me.
"Oh, I definitely will because she deceived the crown of the Harné pack and she is now a wanted imperial prisoner who is carrying an imperial child! And before you say any other thing, mind you that she escaped from prison about a month ago during a jailbreak!" He lashed out at me.
My mate had been an imperial prisoner!
I had nearly married a fugitive.
"And what do you want now? To take her back to your pack and imprison her to satiate your anger?" I asked him in a sarcastic voice of my own.
"Well, believe me, I would very much like to do it because I am aware of what a manipulative person she is. I do not want her going around and deceiving other people."
"Well," I began with an evil smirk. I was going to stop him.
He wanted Ellen, despite all these accusations. I knew that he did. I had seen it on his face when she had fainted in my arms.
Who knew what he would do to her when she was back in the palace? Who knew what they would do together if I give them that chance because from all they were saying my mate was in love with this man and she had gone to the extent of drugging him to get him to fuck her. Or wait, had the imperial child been her goal? To obstruct her twin sister's path?
"Ellen is my mate. She is my soon-to-be wife and we will wed tomorrow," I said to them. "So, you can take your mind off anything like that. She would remain in this pack forever, by my side."
Alpha Sebastian vividly flared at my provocating words.
"Oh no, you would not dare! She is an imperial prisoner and she is with my child! I will take her back to the Harné pack whether you like it or not," he threatened me.
"Oh, we will see about that Alpha Sebastian. So, shall we start planning the big war between the clans? Shall we begin to count on our palms the number of people that would die when we clash?"
"Are you implying that we go to war over a woman? And not any other but one like Ellen? Nonsense!" He roared.
"Well, I will be willing to go to war anytime for that."
"We will take the imperial prisoner back to the pack," he ordered me through gritted teeth. But I was not one of his subordinates or his peace-making Beta, or his sidelined gamma.
"Ellen may be a prisoner in your pack, but here she is my mate, my queen, the Luna of my pack. She will go nowhere Mr. Alpha!" I said with a really confident smile.
We had a state down, our eyes clashing fiercely, going over each other in a swift intake, sizing up the other while taking deep and controlled breaths, prepared for anything, including the worst.
"Alpha," Drake's voice broke our stare down. I turned to him with a questioning brow. He had better not behave like Zedd. "The soon-to-be Luna has arrived."
"What?" I asked. "I thought she was in the hospital?"
"She ran away from the hospital I am told. She came here barefooted in a taxi. Martha is tending to her."
I rushed outside, leaving the other guests to follow or not follow.
It was as they wished.
