Aria

I couldn't do this anymore, always hiding, always being afraid that someone would see us together. I love Caleb but we weren't meant to be together. As I stood there listening to Catherine Rave and rant , I realized this wouldn't end , Catherine would never stop unless she had Caleb or His wife was dead. It hurt me to say that but I had to. It was better this way,he would go back to his life and I would go back to mine and try to pick up the pieces of what was left.

I left him in the room we shared and walked over to the guest room. I locked the door and sat on the bed. I called Holly.

“ Hey are you okay?”.

“ It's Over, Holly. Can you please come and get me?”.

“ Okay, I'll be there soon ”.

“ Thank you ”.

He was knocking on the door, But I didn't answer or open it . I couldn't help but cry, I knew I loved him, I loved and cared for him more than I did for Anthony. I Sat and cried for I don't know how long , I heard the knocking again.

“ Ari., I'm here “.

I stood up and opened the door. The minute she saw me she just walked in and held me as I cried.

“ It's going to be okay, I promise”.

“ It won't ”, I said through tears.

Caleb

I felt like I lost the Will to leave. She wouldn't open the door. I sat right outside the door unable to do anything. I wasn't going to force her, that's for sure. She was quiet, I know for a fact she was crying.I was still sitting there when Holly came up the stairs, she stopped short when she saw me sitting by the door.

“ What Happened?”.

“ She wants a divorce, She doesn't want to be with me anymore. She doesn't want me nor does she want me here”.

“ Give her some time Caleb but don't sign the divorce papers. I think you should leave for a while, give her some space. This problem with Catherine probably made her understand what her life will be like if this marriage continues”.

“ I can't let her go Holly,I love her”.

“ I know you do. And I know that she loves you too Caleb and she's probably in there crying her eyes out. When she broke up with anything she left for three months. She went to Phoenix, Just find a way to deal with Catherine. Give her some time and she'll come back to you “.

I looked at Holly,and I knew if there was anyone that could make her see reasoning it was Holly, Mrs Winston and Chief Mathew.

“ Okay”.

I stood up and went to my office. I called Chief Mathew.

“ Chief it's Cross”

“ What is happening now?”.

“ Aria wants a divorce. Please tell Arch or whoever you have to tell. Try and get them to stall her please “.

“ Boy “

“ Please Chief. I love her and I can't let her go. I need to fix this , I need some time to settle this”.

“ Okay fine “.

I ended the call and sat there. I texted Max to come get me. I saw her leave with Holly,she didn't look at me or say anything,she just walked into the garage and they left. I went upstairs and got my stuff and left it in the hallway. When Ryan walked in he found me sitting on the sofa with my head in my hands.

“ Give her some time ”.

“ Yes. You can stay here and look over the resort for me. I'll handle everything in New York “.

“ Caleb?”.

“ It's okay Ryan. If I need you I'll let you know. Let Nathan keep being her shadow. I'll let you know when I land , I'll be fine Ryan , don't worry about it “.

I left before he could say anything else.I got into the car and we left. Max didn't say anything on the drive to the airfield. When I got to New York it was Midnight. I could tell I scared my family. One look at my face and they knew something was wrong. I didn't know how to feel at that moment.

“ Caleb what's wrong?”.

“ She wants to leave,she wants a divorce. Because of Catherine “. I didn't say anything else, I just headed up to my side of the house. I left them all standing there looking at each other.

Once in my room, I just sat on the balcony. What was I going to do? How do I make Catherine understand?. The only thing was killing her and I wasn't going to become a murderer. When I went down the next around ten. Jason was in our living room.

“ Why are you here and where is She?”.

“ Well after that little stunt that demented fucking Bitch Catherine Pulled yesterday, it's safe to say She won't be my wife longer. As long as Arch and Matthew stall her from filing the divorce papers”.

“ What ?. And you're Just going to let her go?”.

“ No”.

Jason

I knew Cross was back but didn't know why. When he came down and said she wanted a divorce,I saw the look on his face. After he left I just kept looking at his parents.

“ Mr and Mrs Cross , I'm sorry about this“

“ Amanda is fine”.

“ You knew Cassandra. Don't worry, I'm not here to cause trouble. I just need to get to the bottom of this situation so my mother can understand and put this nonsense behind us”.

“ Of course. We knew your mother, It was for a long time either. Cassandra and I weren't childhood friends either. We both moved to Texas at the same time, Cassandra was brilliant in science and she would tutor me. That's how we became friends and became inseparable".

“ And my mother?”.

“ We met your mother When we Both entered College. She was the popular girl. Everyone knew Her as D. Cass and I kept to ourselves. So we were surprised when she started speaking to us”.

“ She would hang out with us during lunch and would invite us over to her place but cas and I rarely went over”.

“ Mr Cross, how do you know my mother?”.

“ I don't,at least back then I didn't know her personally, just of her“.

Wait, his wife knew my mother but he didn't?.

“ I don't understand”.

“ When Caleb mentioned your mother's name that's when it clicked. You're mother and I were Sophomores in college and back then I wasn't interested in anyone. I remembered her because I had seen her hanging out with Amanda and Cassandra,but before that I never paid any attention to her or any other female “.

“ I see “.

“ I remember Cassandra because like my wife said she was brilliant in science,so she tutored me also and Amanda would always talk about her. When Amanda came into college she was the first person I was ever interested in ,no one before that. I'm sorry but I was never not in the slightest bit interested in Diane,as a matter of fact she didn't exist to me”.

“ It was almost one year in when ,Your mother dropped out of college. There were a whole host of rumors as to why she dropped out. It wasn't until later the next year we found out she had gotten married. Cass and I were working at the bakery. And one weekend our boss took us on a trip to DC”.

“ That's When she met my father?”.

She looked at me and nodded.

“ I think so , because after that Trip she would always be on her phone, smiling and laughing. I didn't question her or ask her because she always did the same thing. I mean no matter what it was she would always relent and confide in me so I wasn't worried. I was happy that she had found someone because Michael and I were dating”.

“ How long did that happen for Mrs Cross?”.

“ Let's see, it was February, about eight months until that day. She left the cafe smiling , but when she turned up at my place early that October morning Crying, I knew something bad had happened. I didn't want to push her on it. However I didn't know that when she left that morning it would have been the last time I would ever see her”.

I Sat back in the chair. Jesus this was a headache.

“ Have you met her ?”. she asked, looking at me. I assume she was talking about my step sister.

“ Yes I have. The people around her in Payson knew about Cassandra. Now I've heard my father's side of the story, I've heard your side now I need to know Why Cassandra went all the way there and changed her entire life. Also I need to speak with her about this divorce situation”.

“ Okay. She's a smart girl and I've come to care about her. Do you know she and her friend are the owners of a software developing Company?”.

“ No I did. Thank you Mr and Mrs Cross”.

I saw the girl walking in and she stopped short.

“ I am sorry, for everything that has happened. As a child you usually do whatever your parents want you to do and I only did what my mother asked me to do. It won't happen again, Aira won't get hurt and she won't divorce Caleb either, I'll speak to her”.

I stood up and looked at them.

“ Thank you Mr Campbell?.”

“ It's fine, I'll take your leave now “.
