12. Special Someone
Brianna woke up in an unfamiliar room. It was a bright, well-ventilated room. The fresh air coming in from the windows makes the refined sheer curtains dance in soft wave movements. She rubbed her eyes. She was trying to analyze what situation she is in now. She looked around.
"It's definitely not a hospital." She murmured. "Not my room either." She tried to check if she was bound or restrained. Her instincts were usually like this. Being in constant danger due to her profession, she always prepares her mind for any possibilities of being caught off guard and captured by her enemies. She realized she wasn't. "Just what the hell is going on?"
Just then, the door opened, and Lucien Michaelson came in with a glass of fresh juice.
"Hey, how do you feel?" He asked very nicely. So kindly that Brianna cannot even believe it.
"Thirsty...?" She slowly sat up and answered his question like she wasn't sure what to really say. She was confused. He could see that. Her reactions were also quite alarming. She is acting a bit strange in his comprehension of her. He handed her the glass he was holding.
"Here, have some fresh juice."
She took a sip. Very little that Lucien can tell she did not even drink. Her actions were just perfunctory, he noticed. He was sure she just moisten her lips with the juice.
"Where am I?" She asked, holding the glass above her lap with both hands.
"This is my villa." He answered, eyeing her every reaction.
"Why am I here?" She asked again.
"You fainted on the side of the road, so I brought you here?" He said, frowning. "Don't you remember?"
She gave him an examining look. She was trying to see if any of his facial expressions would betray his words in any way. She tried to think about the answer to his question. What does she remember? She frowned. She suddenly felt her head splitting in pain. Her hands flew to grab her head while her body was curling down on the bed.
"Ahhhhhhhh!!!!" She screamed.
"Brianna! What's going on?!" Lucien was shocked to see her in such a state of intense agony. He was panicking. He dialed a number and commanded the person on the other line. "Get Doctor Jacobs over here right now!" He thrashed the phone somewhere on the bed and hugged Brianna tightly. He didn't know what to do to comfort her, but he could see she was in terrible pain, and his heart seemed to twitch in equal suffering.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!
"Brianna, hey, hey... Shhhhh, help is on the way." Lucien had never run across such a situation that he was so clueless on what to do. He rubbed her arms with his warm, huge palms to let her know he was just right there beside her, but her pain seemed to intensify. She was pulling her hair from its roots. Her complexions had turned awfully red, and her breathing almost stopped, then she fainted again.
She was sweating so much that her shirt was almost like her second skin. He can see the beige color of her brassier. The doctor will be here any moment, so he quickly went out to call out for his nanny. She dedicated her life to taking care of him, that she neglected to get herself a family of her own. Now Lucien wants to keep her with him until she says she is leaving, and even by then. He will support the old lady for being such a good servant to his family, to him specially. He came out of the door with Nanna Betty already anxiously waiting for him.
"Nanna," he called out.
"What happened? I heard her scream so loud and painfully." The old lady was almost teary-eyed, asking softly towards a worry-filled Lucien.
"I have no idea, but I already called for Doctor Jacobs. He will be here soon." Answered Lucien. He held the old lady's hand to comfort her and to calm his freaking self as well. "We need her to get changed. She sweats a lot. I don't want the doctor to see her in such a state, please, Nanna?" Lucien would have barked with such order had it been another person in front of him, but since it's his Nanna, he could hold his reins and ask nicely.
"Alright, I will take care of that. Wait here by the door, else the doctor arrives and barges in." She turned around to get into Lucien's wardrobe to get a fresh and cool shirt and half pants to change Brianna. There were other servants in the villa, but she didn't want to ask for help. She knew this lady is someone important to Lucien, judging by how worried he is for her. And she is the only girl Lucien has brought here. This villa holds a dear spot in his heart. He was raised here. He grew up here. Not even his friends can come here anytime they wish to, but he brought this girl. Although she wasn't conscious when they arrived, his expressions beheld concern and affections towards the lady. And because of that, she has a wild intuition that this lady might be her beloved Lucien's wife someday. She wants to serve her the way she serves Lucien and, hopefully, the kids who would become their romance fruits.
Lucien was pacing outside the door. His worried mind cannot ignore the strange behavior he saw in Brianna when she woke up. He dialed Vicky's number.
"Did you send someone to investigate?" He asked without further ado. He was in urgency. He wanted to know if Brianna was hit in any way. Was she hurt in any way? He might have been too busy to notice during that time.
"Yes, boss. Shall I get the information and report to you, or do you want to talk to the man directly?" Vicky was cautious. She had heard about the accident, so he was sure her boss wasn't in a good mood right now.
"I might as well talk to the mean directly. I have some things to clarify, too. Please send me the contact number right away. Right away, please." He was still polite, knowing Vicky was also worried about what happened to him and Brianna. These two older ladies in his life had been his honest and effective, and efficient companion in life. One was at home while the other was in the office. They are like two people in one. They seem to have the same goals. To serve Lucien with all dedication. Both have neglected to have their own family because they were busy assisting him. In return, he never neglected them. He would always remember their birthdays and send presents to them— such as bonuses and some lady items he assumed they would like. And because of his expressive gratitude, the two ladies cannot regret serving him and even doing more. What Lucien liked more about them is that they never cross the line between employee-employer relationships. They lend him services according to their post. One is to assist him in his everyday needs at home, while the other assists him in his needs at work. They are work-related people, but deep in Lucien's mind, they are his family as well. He may not be vocal to say it, but he makes sure they don't feel neglected or disregarded.
"Ping," with the sound of his message alert, Lucien got the contact number Vicky sent him right after their phone conversation.
