23. Untraceable
They arrived at the table in a gleeful mood as the grandpa keeps bugging the grandson to tell more about this girl he was talking about.
"She is feisty," Lucien chuckled, discouraging his grandpa from asking more.
"Ohh, interesting," to his dismay, the elderly turned to be more eager to hear him tell more about the girl. "Come on, tell me more."
"I told you, I just saw her on the road. I still have to know more about her, and then I will tell you whatever I find out," Lucien did not tell that the secretary and the girl he is talking about are the same people.
"Do you want me to check her background for you?"
"No, no. Please, do not do that, grandpa," Lucien quickly and firmly disagree. "Promise me you won't do that if I am going to know more about her, definitely not in a stealthy way or manner."
"Okay, I give you my word," the old man promised, but deep in his heart, he already apologized to his grandson because as soon as he leaves, the old man was planning to dig everything there is about this girl. He needs to know she is not a spy or assassin in disguise.
"Let's eat first. You said you didn't get to eat your breakfast earlier," Leandro spooned some of Lucien's favorite food into the young man's plate and commanded him to eat a lot.
"Enough, enough," Lucien stopped his grandpa, piling food on his plate as he seemed to think he had never had breakfast for a whole week with the amount he wanted Lucien to eat in this meal alone.
"Don't leave a single grain," the grandpa threatened. Looking ferociously, but when he saw Lucien's eyes as wide as the saucers on the table, he couldn't stop laughing.
The grandpa and grandson started to enjoy their meal.
All this while, Jack was in a chaotic state of worrying about Brianna. He heard what happened to her. His dad gave told him the news about the accident that happened on the road. And when he checked the footage of the surveillance cameras surrounding the area, he confirmed Brianna was together with Lucien Michaelson. He was sure he saw Brianna fainted on the roadside after jumping with Lucien on her hold. He was amazed that even in such a very concise timing, she was able to save the man she hated from a death she did not cause. He had been too worried about her losing her wits and snapping the young Michaelson's head without warning, but she surpassed his expectations when instead of letting the grandson of the enemy die in death, not from her hands, she even risked her life to snatch him from the reaper of death.
But his problem now is he cannot find her. He had been trying to trace where the young Michaelson had brought her after the road accident but with intentional and purposely disturbing cars to deceive anyone watching where the CEO and the girl he was with got into among the cars that came to pick him up and drove into different directions, Jack got lost as he followed to trace the wrong car.
Now he has no way to find and grab her out of Lucien's hands. He was worried the Michaelson would find out Brianna's identity, and she blows up her cover. She will be in great danger if that happens. He had to conceal and replace every data that can be traced about Brianna to keep her safe, or at least if she denies her identity, the enemy will not find anything that would lead her to get harmed.
Jack tried everything he could and kept trying to monitor Lucien Michaelson's every move to get a chance to snatch her little sister out of Lucien's grasp. The biggest problem he cannot solve is tracing her, even with his ability in Information Technology. Even with his advanced techniques, Jack Fraser could not find her.
"Brei! Where are you?" Jack desperately grabbed his hair as he looked at his screen monitor. "Please show me a sign."
Brianna would usually leave crumbs for Jack to follow as her trails whenever she would be in trouble. She knew where he would look and makes sure her hints are obvious for him to catch up and find her. That had been their way of getting in and out of trouble and traps of the enemies. She used to have a tracker attached to her, but when her enemies found out about it and ruthlessly cut a length thousand times longer than needed to pull the tracker out of her inner arm, Jack declined her request to place another one on her other arm for replacement. He had been the one to nurse her to heal that wound that he swore to himself she will never have to endure such an ugly experience ever again.
"Scars will heal. Besides, it's not somewhere open for everyone to see," Brianna argued then as she kept bugging Jack to put another tracker for his convenience, and right then he would be mad and angrily reply to her with unbending words of "Never!" Now he wants to break his head for not agreeing to her requests. He is suffering so much from worry and trouble not being able to find her.
Brianna made sure she was not wearing any tracker before she went to meet Lucien. She was not going to compromise her plans by being detected with anything suspicious for her enemies to find. And along with her enemies being clueless of where to trace and find her, her side party, Jack, also won't be able to track her. She was not in a mission to be paid by a client where Jack would be liable and allowed to access and help her in case she would be in danger.
This time, her mission was personal. She won't earn a dime. Brianna didn't have to drag Jack Fraser with her if she ever fails. If she succeeds, she can return alive and meet jack again. If she fails, Jack will never be mentioned, and he won't be in danger because of her. That was Brianna's plan. She had it all planned well.
But among her plans, saving Lucien Michaelson was never one of them.
