19. Irrefutable Favor

"Luci, honey, we can only tell that after a set of thorough medical tests," Sandra explained apologetically. "The results will be the reference of what we can tell you professionally."
Lucien helplessly nodded again. His mom and his friend Clark Jacobs had the same answer to his question. He smiled awkwardly. He was not sure why he came to ask such obvious questions. 
He looked up. Not realizing he was looking at them blankly. The couple was even more startled. 
"Son, something seems to be bothering you, am I right?" Levi asked cautiously. He can feel his wife pinching his arm under the table, but he could no longer bite his tongue. His curiosity won over him, and the question slipped out of his mouth. 
Sandra was scared her husband Levi would make their son's lips even more tightly closed, voicing his curiosity. But she was actually feeling the same with her husband. Levi just made it to say it out loud before she could. To her utter relief, he did not react the way she was afraid he would.
"I am not sure why I am even here," Lucien sighed in honest frustration. "Clark already told me the same answer mom just gave me," she laughed lowly. 
Lucien must have wanted his parents to attend Brianna's tests personally, subconsciously, but realizing the situation is not clear yet, he was also afraid to drag them into danger. Clark is younger, he is also aware of possible scenarios as he had witnessed some before, but his parents are different. They did not know that Lucien, their one and only son, who they have tried their very best, especially Levi Michaelson, to pull out from the shadows of the underworld where Lucien's grandfather is a big personality, has also been into numerous incidents of almost losing his life. Ambush, trapped, some are failed assassination attempts. They did not know about any of them, and Lucien prefers it that way. Or the father Leonardo and son Levi Michaelson will be in constant bickering and misunderstanding. Lucien understands both parties. As a result, the youngest generation of the Michaelson decided not to let his parents know anything about the dangers he had all the years. But today, he was somehow bothered. So he just made his version of the story sound like what happened earlier was just a pure accident on the road. A thing that can happen to anyone at any time.
"Do you want your mom to check on your friend personally?" Asked the father. His teasing gesture of raising both hands in the air to quote the word friend made the mother and son laugh.
"I already have Clark to do the task. Maybe if he fails to do his job properly, I will take mom with me," Lucien teased his dad back. They all knew too well that his dad is a very selfish person when it comes to his dear wife. He is always greedy for her attention and affections. 
"Don't worry, honey. We don't have to let him know," Sandra answered Lucien. She was playing along. She was actually teasing her husband as for when there are only the two of them, Levi would always tease her with private jokes that she is so bashful about. So to get her sweet revenge, she would rather escape him with her son. But when she thinks of his possible come around with her mischievousness, Sandra doesn't want to think how she might end up from his sweet torturing techniques. She shivered inwardly. 
"Lucien Michaelson!" His dad suddenly called his name out so loud.
"What?" Lucien answered in an offended mien. His dad started the teasing thing, but he doesn't want to be teased back? This pathetic old man is so funny. But he couldn't voice his thoughts, or his dad will transform into something.
"Don't you dare take my wife without telling me, ever!" He was seriously warning his son. It's not every day that he can spend time leisurely with his wife, so he cherishes every moment he can. And even if it's his son, he won't allow his wife to be taken away without him knowing about it.
"Well, it will be her choice if she wants to tell you or not," their serious conversations earlier became lively again as the wife and son were teaming up against the poor Levi Michaelson. 
"Yeah, it will be my choice, right, Luci?" Sandra winked at her son. 
"You two...?" Levi was beyond gobsmacked at the complacency of the two very important people in his life in front of him. 
"I got to get going," Lucien was feeling better now. He realized he just needed to feel their love around him at that very moment. Seeking professional advice was a reason but not what weighed heavier in his heart. The joy of knowing they are around and he can reach out to them when he needs them was beyond any medical advice that can help him right now. 
"Thanks for dropping by. We know you're too busy, and so we're so glad we got to see you today," Levi was back to his usual self. Seeing his son about to go, he did not want to send him away with playfully showed anger. So he hugged Lucien as they always do when they part their ways. Home or out, they always give each other a tight embrace. As well as Sandra. It had been their family routine. A sweet one that many other well-off families with wayward kids envy Levi and Sandra. 
"And tell Clark to send me the files of all the test results he will get for you," the caring mother reminded Lucien. 
The family knew Clark Jacobs as the two boys had been friends for a very long time. And they actually assisted him in his medical career endeavor, even during his studies. The Michaelson couple had been Clark Jacobs' mentors and guides to the best roads to take in the world of Medicine. The couple was happy that despite not having their own son follow their footsteps in Medicine, his very good friend Clark did. They did all the favor and helped he needed. Even the ones he did not know would be on his way one day. They prepared for him. They give him the full support they could give him. And so Clark is more than grateful. He is even more expressive of his gratitude to Lucien's parents as they supported him while his family of lawyers disagreed and tried to suppress him. He will never say no to any request from the lady Michaelson, no matter how hard or what it may cost him.
