17. His Ideal Love Story

Along the way to Michaelson's mansions, Lucien received the email from his secretary, Vicky Reed. He found out she was already an orphan. She lives alone and has no one to inform of her situation. He took it as he is responsible for being her guardian for the moment as the medical procedures might require one. He tried to check keenly if any medical records could inform him of her allergies if she has any. He has to be her spokesperson while she cannot speak for herself, so he must be very thorough. He finished reading even before they arrived at their destination because nothing much that her impressive credentials were in her files of information.
He called his dad. And as if his old man was waiting and expecting his call, the phone was answered right after the first ring.
"My son finally missed me?" asked Levi, who was now having a coffee. His voice was calm as always.
He must not have known about what happened to Lucien in the morning yet. Lucien wanted to praise his men for doing a job well done. The last thing he wants to happen is to worry his parents, too. He can handle these things, if not, he can ask his grandad, but his dad is totally clueless about the reality and cruelness of the underworld.
"Dad, do you have time to spare for me?" Lucien asked carefully. His dad is a heart surgeon, while his mom is a neurosurgeon. They are both experts in the world of medicine and with Brianna's case, he wanted the best medical assistance they can get. Although he really hoped nothing too serious as needing a neuro and heart surgeon-like case, he still wanted to ask for their professional advice.
"Of course. I am having my coffee with your mom on the balcony, we have to enjoy the moment of availability while it lasts, and it would be more fun if we have you with us. Are you coming over alone again?" Levi's voice cannot hide the teasing tone it came along with.
"Well, maybe not for long..." Lucien smiled. He knew his words had piqued his nosy dad. But he is not going to reveal anything just yet. And not on the phone if they are going to be talking face to face in a few minutes.
"I'm dying to hear more. Come over quickly but safely, okay?" Levi excitedly replied. He knew his son too well. He knew he wouldn't say anything as important as about a lady over the phone. So he was too eager to cut the call and make him arrive safely if he is driving by himself. Either way, he cannot ask more on the phone, they might as well end the conversation, and he is going to tell his dear wife about what Lucine just said. He knew she would love to hear of it, too.
"Okay, see you soon," Lucien chuckled. As the father knew his son, the son also knows his dad will gossip to his mom right after their phone call was cut. He shook his head. His dad is totally head over heels when it comes to his mom. They have been married for ages, but their romance never seemed to fade. It gets even stronger, as he noticed. A reason why he is too picky when it comes to women, he had his standards. He wants to meet a girl who would at least have the slightest resemblance to his mom's personality. Soft and feminine. She is very lady-like. She speaks soft but firm. He had never seen his parents fight with loud voices. But his mom's silence is even more feared by his dad. And he can sometimes hear his dad plead to his mom to just yell at him than ignoring him when she is mad. He found it funny, but his mom never did as his dad requests. Still, the two would be back to their sweetness the next day. It was as if what happened yesterday was gone with the day. He asked his mom about it one time when he was just a teen, and she said,
"Anger is like an acid. If you keep it for too long in you, you won't notice your anger will eat you up. It will be more difficult to recover and bring back the old loving feeling you feel for that person you fell out with. My husband is someone I have to wake up with every morning. If I choose not to forgive, it will be my loss not to gain back peace and unity again. That would be stupid, don't you think so?"
And ever since then, he understood his mom, and he noticed his dad became even more cautious not to anger her. He even spoilt his wife more than ever. And the two became even more loving and sweet towards each other. How he wished he can have the same love story.
"Boss, we're here." Tatum had to remind the young Michaelson as he seemed not to notice they were already parked at the Mansions yard. He checked if his boss was still reading his emails as he had heard him ordering Vicky to send him some files, but he saw him looking blankly out the window.
Lucien, who was unaware they had been sitting in the car for almost five minutes, simply got off the car. He walked towards the front door and saw his mom and dad waiting for his arrival.
"I thought you weren't coming out of your car. I was about to barge in there hadn't you come out sooner." His mom, Sandra Shepherd-Michaelson, squinted her eyes as she held her arms open to welcome Lucien with a warm hug.
"I did?" Lucien was oblivious of what his mom was talking about.
"Yeah, we saw your car arrived from our seats on the balcony, but you weren't coming out of it, so we came down to get you," Levi explained. "What took you so long to get off?" He asked, smiling. They both know he is a busy man, being a businessman. But they were too excited to hear anything from him that they couldn't wait until he comes up on his own, which only heaven knows when. And so they ran down the stairs like young kids to drag him out of his car if needed.
Lucien smiled when he realized he must have been lost in thoughts as he was thinking about this couple's love story. He shook his head in disbelief. They said his car was parked for about five minutes already?
