46. A Clear Warning
Everyone in the room did not dare chase her. The men surrounding Charles checked on him where he got shot.
The team leader was frightened to realize that the bullet hit the man only an inch to his heart! He knew because that is one of their skills. As mercenaries, they are to know the fatal points of their targets. And he was sure that shot was an unequivocal warning. She said her piece and made a clear proof she wasn't just kidding around. Had she wanted to kill Charles, there was no stopping her from shooting the old man right into his heart, but she still left an inch to keep him alive.
They are almost convinced she was the Big B, Boss B, that they knew. They have never seen her face clearly as she would always wear a cap covering almost half her face whenever they are all together. She would cover her face with black paint when they are on a mission that even without a cap, she is unrecognizable. But today, they saw a face with her hair neatly tied up in a tight high ponytail, her face, a beautiful face so visible, they were caught off guard of who she was at first.
She looked so confident. Her every move, stand, and aura were all precise and smart, literally "deadly smart," and it all added to her impressive beauty.
They were confident their safehouse was "safe," so they didn't carry any weapon around when they were in their dwelling place. They never thought anyone would dare to invade this place. But that was when Brianna was with them. No one will dare to step into their territory. It's different when Brianna herself is the one invading their spot. Had it been anyone else than Brianna, Jack would have already warned them when he saw the monitor.
She was holding a high-caliber gun with a suppressor in one hand while a bomb detonator in the other. Someone must have tried to make a move that she waved the detonator for every one of them to see and give her warning without blowing them all off. She was close to the door. She was close to the fire exit door. She could sprint while they were not sure where the bombs were located. They do not know where to run to escape as they might end up running to embrace the blast instead. Bluffing or not, they have to stay rooted in their spot.
Every one of them had the common question in their mind, unsaid, but their faces showed it all.
"Who is she?"
When Charles called her Brianna Peters, they realized it was the Boss B they were talking about. But they were puzzled with how she made her entrance. If she was Big B and she had heard the order Charles was giving them, why would she react the way she did? She should have been furious and asked Charles Anderson anything, or at least explained herself why she was working for the other party. Something just doesn't add up! But she shot Charles, close to deadly.
The mercenary team was all in mixed reactions. One thing was common among them. They were all puzzled while Charles was cursing Brianna to the deepest hell until he fainted. They cannot bring him to the hospital because there will be an investigation about a gunshot wound, and Charles would not like to be in such a predicament, so they called for a private doctor.
Jack was relieved to see Brianna walk out of the building alive. She literally walked out. She did not even run her way down. Brianna used the stairs as there were only two floors down before she reached the front door going out of the building. Then she walked to her car like nothing had even happened. She walked like she was just another passerby with an oversized hooded t-shirt and a big bag on her shoulder. She grabbed a man's clothes on her way down as she was still wearing the fitted bodysuit. It would attract attention if she walked on the streets with only that piece of clothing covering her body but showing off her drop-dead gorgeous body curves.
Jack was not surprised to see her glorious grand exit march. But many were watching her in person and on the monitor with their mouth gaping in shock and amazement. They could not believe she was like a walking God of confidence herself.
"Grandpa, please let me replay what we just saw again," Lucien was feeling like he was floating in limbo with how everything was happening so unbelievably fast and impossible.
He saw Anna jump off from one rooftop to another, standing in a very narrow space of a railing wall surface. Then he saw her standing in front of a few men with a gun and a detonator in her hand. None of them saw where and when she set the bombs. There was no way for them to know if she was bluffing or not. But her targets were cornered and unable to make any move to defend themselves and attack her. Then she gave her warning. Like she was just there to deliver her message personally, but before she left, she shot the eldest man among those that were at the table, then she just walked out of there like nothing even happened.
Lucien quickly ordered his men to cover for her for any possibilities of the enemies chasing her. But none of the guys on the third floor even tried to check where she went out of the building. It was like they knew chasing her was chasing their death.
"Sure," Leandro smiled as he responded. "I wanna see it again myself," he added with amusement.
Lucien was taken aback by his grandfather's reaction. He wasn't shocked at all.
"I always thought you underestimate women's abilities," Lucien playfully mocked his grandpa.
Leandro cleared his throat, but he did not deny his honesty to Lucien. They were alone, with Enzo close to the door.
"Well, I should admit," Leandro sheepishly answered. "She is the first that impressed me when it comes to this field."
Lucien felt proud of Anna. Leandro Michaelson is not easy to impress, but Anna did not even have to do anything to purposely get his old man's respect for her as a fearless woman.
"Should I also be scared of her?" Lucien shook his head as he watched how her enemies reacted when she showed up.
"I guess stepping to her bad side will be fatal for you. I suggest you make sure you are on the bright side with her," Leandro laughed loudly when Lucien spoke his mindless thoughts.
"I don't know how to do that..." Lucien sighed helplessly.
"You can ask her how she wants things her way, so you know what to do and not," Leandro suggested.
The young Michaelson nodded his head. His grandpa has a point. Since Anna is direct and frank, she would clearly say what she likes and doesn't.
Soon, the two Michaelson received a report that Anna was heading to where Lucien was.
"She must be hungry," Leandro casually said.
"Grandpa, she must be tired. I will take her home first. We will have dinner with you next time," Lucien apologetically uttered. "And we can't be sure of what mood she is in right now."
"Alright, alright," Leandro snorted at Lucien's worried mien. His grandson is obviously worried about the girl. Leandro would really love to meet her in person, but he will have to give his grandson a leeway to have the girl for himself. "But make sure to bring her to me next time," he feigned a firm face and looked as he squinted his eyes to Lucien.
"I promise! I will bring her to you on the weekend if nothing happens out of the plans. As you know, we seem to be having a lot of surprises almost every day!" Lucien exhaled loudly.
"Don't worry, I am confident your bodyguard can protect you more than a hundred percent," the old man stated.
Leandro slowly stood from his seat, and Lucien quickly assisted his grandpa.
"I will save the first meeting when we can more time than just exchange hi and hello. You go wait for her downstairs. She might be tired and hungry, too, do not dally. Feed her and let her rest, do you understand," Leandro lovingly nagged at Lucien.
Lucien could not help hooting in merry laughter, hearing his grandpa sound so concerned about Anna.
"Yes, sir," he playfully raised his right head to his temple for a salute.
"I won't see you out. Enzo, send this boy to the door for me," Leandro ordered to his assistant.
The old man chose to sit next to the window so he would see when Lucien leaves along with Anna.
"Bye, grandpa, thanks for everything," Lucien embraced his old man before he left.
