The trip to the hospital was peaceful. Lucien was able to give his full attention to Brianna alone. He stayed by her side all throughout every procedure. She was checked for any internal injury. Using a digital full-body scanner, they can see the colored picture of her internal body parts. Veins and organs and everything they had to check for possible injuries was thoroughly checked. They also had a check on a 3D MRI to focus checking on her neurological condition, but everything seemed to have appeared normal.
“Except for this part,” Clark Jacobs pointed at a dark shaded area on a part of her brain on a screen they were looking into.
“What is it?” Asked a worried Lucien.
“This is a memory circuit area. She seemed to be suppressing herself to remember a harrowing part of her memory.” Explained the young doctor.
“Do we have a way to know what is that memory exactly?”
“I am afraid the answer to that is none, only she can help herself. It is actually our body’s response to forgetting a painful memory for the rest of the body cells and organs to operate like normal.
“What do I do then?” Lucien was at a loss.
“What do you mean?” Clark got confused.
“What if she doesn’t remember me?” Lucien looked at a peacefully asleep form of Brianna.
“She doesn’t remember herself. You should help her remember.” Answered Clark. “Make her feel comfortable with you so she can open up herself and build trust in you.”
Lucien mindlessly nodded.
“We do not know anyone else to send her to. She lives alone. Her parents died when she was just a kid,” Lucien blabbered.
“Then she needs you more,” Clark was hoping Lucien would take full responsibility for taking care of her. Stay close with a girl and see how a smitten Lucien Michaelson would look like.
“I will take her home, guide her to work and like you said, make her feel familiar with my presence and let trust build within us.
“She’s okay to head back home now,” Clark declared.
“Mom wants to see the results of her medical tests. You better send her before she accused me of not telling you about it. You’re dead meat to me if that happens.” Lucien ruthlessly warned Clark. He knew too well the young doctor would even do his ways to send that file if he could personally. He is a big fan of the huge personalities in the world of Medicine couple Michaelson.
“Really?” Clark’s eyes bulged in excitement, just as Lucien expected.
“Yeah, not sure until when they can have their leisure time, I went to visit them at the mansion today.” Lucien casually replied. But Clark knew he was dropping hints of the couple’s schedule and whereabouts.
“I will. I will!” Clark cheerfully uttered.
Lucien nodded his reply and spoke to Enzo beside him.
“We’re heading home now, Enzo.”
“Yes, Young Master.” He quickly moved around to give orders and inform everyone involved about their next move.
“Remember, do not let her feel alone or sad,” Clark advises as they walk down the hospital aisle. They will need the elevator to move her on the stretcher so she could peacefully and comfortably lay down as they took the twenty minutes to ride from the hospital to his Villa.
They left the hospital and arrived home without any trouble. Or if there were any, Lucien did not notice them. His grandpa must have dealt them well.
Nana Freya was waiting by the door when she heard the sound of car engines taking their halt in the yard.
“She’s still asleep, Nana,” Lucien informed the worried old lady.
“How is she?” The nanny could no longer keep her curiosity unsaid while they were making her comfortable on the bed after Lucien lifted her from the stretcher.
“She might have a memory loss, but it will only be cured by her accepting such a painful memory. Clark said never to let her feel sad to avoid more triggers. But we do not know what specific memory it is she is trying so hard to hurry in her memory.” Lucien answered with so much pity as he stroked Brianna’s hair that had stubbornly dangling on her face.
The old nanny felt the heartache in Lucien’s voice as he was feeling so helpless that he could not help Brianna with such a problem.
“Don’t worry so much, she may have lost her memory, but we can make new and happier ones that she would want to remember,” Nana Freya consoled the young Michaelson.
“Thanks, Nana,” Lucien smiled faintly. “I will watch over her tonight. I want to be here by her side when she wakes up, in the wee hours or in the morning,” Lucien declared.
“Okay, let me know when you need me, okay?” Freya reminded him firmly. “I mean anytime, I can sleep anytime in the morning or a nap in the afternoon, so don’t worry about me, you should sleep more,” the old lady could not keep her worried mien hidden from Lucien.
“I am okay, Nana. I just really wanna be with her until she wakes up,” Lucien assured the old lady.
The nanny gave up persuading him and quietly left to have her rest as well.
Lucien was left alone with Brianna. He fell asleep with his head leaning on the left side to her while sitting on a soft cushion-covered single sofa chair. With all the worries and preparations he had to attend to in the previous day, Lucien’s exhaustion swamped him that he fell into a deep and peaceful sleep even in his sitting position.
He must have felt relieved that the trip to the hospital was safe, and he did not bring any more harm to this enchanting woman on his guest room’s bed. His subconscious mind felt relieved that there was no serious problem with her health, and he could keep her beside him as she recovered.
His body must have wanted to collect from the tiredness he had all day yesterday, body and mind, and maybe heart and soul, too, worrying about her condition and the trouble he may have caused and created to endanger her had all been dealt with somehow, and his inner mind found solace and drifted in the sea of serene slumber. He did not even notice the patient he was watching over already woke up before sunrise.
